Intro to Art Syllabus

Class Description: This is a year long course that will provide you with an understanding and appreciation of art through the creative
process of art making. Students will have the ability to develop and apply their creative abilities using originality, technique, and imagination.
Most emphasis in this course will be based on basic art skills and techniques. We will be exploring different mediums and the elements and
principles of design and how they are used to make meaningful art making.A passing grade in intro to art is a prerequisite for all other art
classes at FZE. In class students will be required to keep a sketchbook and maintain their digital portfolio on their created Adobe Spark Page.

Classroom Rules:
1. RESPECT!!! If you remember anything always remember RESPECT! Respect each other, myself, our materials, peoples space, our school!
2. Use School Appropriate language and actions
3. NO PHONES! They should be put away at all times! If you want to listen to music you can do so on your chromebook with headphones
4. Sit in your assigned seat! And no ROaming the room! This is a Fort Zumwalt Rule used for tracing in case someone tests positive for
COVID19
5. No food, but you can have your own drink that’s fine. Another COVID rule :/

Supply List: Because of new social distancing guidelines and rules, put in place by the CDC and the Fort Zumwalt School District, projects
will be done a little differently this year. In order to reduce the amount of shared materials we ask that each student bring to class the
following supplies for their personal use only! Not to be touched or used by any other student. This will hopefully help significantly reduce the
risk of spreading COVID19.
You will need to bring with you to class the following items:
● #2 Pencil
● Big Eraser
● Small hand held Pencil Sharpener
● 12 or 24 set Crayola Colored Pencils
● 8 or 10 color set Markers
● Sketchbook (doesn’t have to be fancy) Just a book of blank paper at least 11.5 x 8 or close to that (virtual
class required, in class optional)
● 2 Pocket Folder
● Fine Point Black Sharpie
● Ultra Fine Point Sharpie
● Ruler
● Small scissors
● Glue
● Watercolor set with paintbrush
● Your School issued Chromebook
● And most IMPORTANT a great attitude!

Websites: I have listed below the online websites and programs we will be using this year to help communicate information in a paperless
environment. This will help keep everyone safe and organized and reduce the amount of passing around paper in class.

Our Weebly Page: Our classroom website is where you will find all information for each project we will complete including; videos,
demos, supplies needed, learning objectives/goals, rubrics, examples, etc. This is the same website for both Face 2 Face and Virtual classrooms.

Adobe Spark Page: Each student will be creating and using an Adobe Spark Page (SP) to virtually submit their work, so myself or any
other student does not have to touch your work for discussions and grading.
