Course Description:
This course ‘Advance decision analytics’ (ADA) focuses on advance techniques and quantitative
modeling in optimization and analytics. The course provides students with the understanding of
analytical techniques necessary to meet the needs of business and the real-world decision-making
problems with special focus to prescriptive analytics. The course provide students with an
understanding of the decision making acumen .

Learning Objectives:

(a) To develop analytical thinking in complex business situation :

(b) Understand and apply Non linear optimization techniques, their application in different
fields of business, Benchmarking DMU’s , Multicriteria decision making methods &
optimization techniques
(c) Interpretation of quantitative based solution in managerial interpretation

Pedagogy:

The course is primarily focusses on hands on exercise, case discussions, live data sets and
projects. “Doing things” is taught with real business project, and all students in the groups will
try to identify some real field situation and prepare a business model to propose an end-to-end
solution. Learning will be ensured through solution of real scenario and steps a consultant goes
through while finding solution. Case studies and exercises will also be extensively used in the
class to illustrate concepts and practices and to help students develop the necessary skills required
for a manager. A lot of emphasis will be on source of data and types of data required for any
particular problem of industry. An extensive use of the different software will be done in order to
formulate quantitative business model and to find solution.

Course Requirements:
 You do need to have a good understanding & strong understanding of Linear
programming

You do need to have an understanding & experience of working with Excel Solver

You do need to have a strong understanding of basic probability & Basic Matrix operations

You should have a willingness to work on the computer assignments (completion required for
credit).

Group Project/Assessment:

The group project will be an important learning tool of the course. It is essentially an application
of the classroom learning. The faculty shall assign the project at the end of session 2. The project
will be evaluated at each stage of synopsis, analysis, presentation & final report. The project will
require some deep thinking by the students before forming a conclusion.
