SETTING UP PEER TO PEER NETWORKING (Transferring Files from one Computer to

Another Computer) with Crossover Ethernet Cable

PC 1
1. Connect the Ethernet Cable to both the devices
2. In the Taskbar, Right click the Network Icon and choose Open Network and Internet
Settings
3. Click Sharing Options and turn on Internet Directory and Turn on File and Printer Sharing
and Click Allow Windows to manage homegroup connections
4. Click the DropDowm of All Networks, Turn on Sharing and Use 128-bit encryption to
help others. But turn off password protected sharing and press Save Changes to take
effect
5. Then Go to Change Adapter Settings, double click Ethernet. Then select Properties
6. Choose 4 (TCP/IPV4) then key in the IP Address as 192.168.1.10 Click Subnet mask but
do not change the values that will pop-out.Click OK to execute the changes you made.
7. Close everything and create SERVER PC FOLDER. Right Click the folder then go to Give
access to then go to Specific People.
8. Click Dropdown arrow and choose Everyone. Click Add and click the Dropdown under
Everyone and choose Read/Write and then click Share. This will take a minute to share.

PC 2
Repeat steps 1-5
6. Choose 4 (TCP/IPV4) then key in the IP Address as 192.168.1.20. Click Subnet mask but do
not change the values that will pop-out.Click OK to execute the changes you made.
7. Be sure to Disconnect your Firewall before accessing files from the other computer.
8. Press Windows Key + R then type \\\192.168.1.10
