Chapter 1 - Outline

Chapter 1 - Outline
1.1 Purpose of use
This Digital Video Archiving Software captures real-time clips displayed on ultrasound
diagnostic scanner.

1.2 Cautions
1.2.1 General·····································································································
z Hitachi bears no responsibility for data loss due to unexpected accidents, malfunction, or
incorrect operation. Be sure to make backups of important data.
z When capturing important data, be sure to perform a test capture in advance to confirm
that capturing works correctly.
z Clips that are compressed and captured with the digital video archiving software will
show degradation in image quality. Use this software only to the extent that degradation
will not affect diagnoses.
z Do not turn off the breaker switches while capturing clips.
Turning off the breaker switches while capturing clips might result in damage to drives,
disks, and the content of disks.

While capturing clips, the scanner will not shut down even if you press the
ON/STANDBY key .
To shut down the scanner, first make sure that the capturing of clips is complete, and
then set the ON/STANDBY key to OFF.

z Any changes made to DGA or BSA while playing back clips will not change the DGA or
BSA that appear in the recorded scene.
When taking measurements that are affected by values such as DGA and BSA, check the
values that are displayed in the dialog box for entering patient menu or the Measurement
Report, as necessary.
z The scene where image popup and a dialog box were displayed on ultrasound image is
recorded, but please do not measure it in what become the false measurement.
z Make sure that the drive access lamp is off before performing the following operations.
Performing the following operations while the access lamp is on or flashing might result
in damage to drives, disks, and the content of disks.
ƒ Pressing the ON/STANDBY key
ƒ Pressing the EJECT key EJECT

Q1E-EZ1204 1
Chapter 1 - Outline

ƒ Pressing the eject button for the DVD MULTI drive

Ultrasound diagnostic scanners are other modes (For example EUB Series, HI
VISION 900) cannot play back the clips captured with this software or manipulate the
record files. And the clips captured by other model Ultrasound Diagnostic Scanner
(For example EUB Series, HI VISION 900) cannot be played back and operated on
HI VISION Avius.

1.2.2 Long time recording mode ········································································

z You can use DVD-RAM or USB HDD (external media for recording) when you perform
recording in long time recording mode. Be sure to use the recommended media.
z For capturing, the save destination storage device to be used needs to have at least 300
MB of space available.
Use the storage device that has sufficient available space.

y For details about DVD-RAM Media, see the chapter Recommended media/Drive
and Handling of a DVD-RAM/DVD-R Media in the separate INSTRUCTION
MANUAL HI VISION Avius Preparation.
y Recording errors are more likely to occur if you partition the capture region on
DVD-RAM media. Therefore, do not use DVD-RAM media that you have
repeatedly used to save and delete images for recording.
However, if you do use DVD-RAM media that you have repeatedly used to save
and delete images, be sure to first delete all images from the DVD-RAM media
before performing recording in long time recording mode.
