ESSAY. Explain in 100 words or less why you want to run for the position and the key points of your platform.

I am running because I want to serve the cluster where I grew as a leader. I want to serve not only the
seven organizations that make up SBC but more importantly, their causes. My aim is to further push the
culture and idea of volunteerism in the cluster.

I plan to continue the externalization projects which have been started this year in SBC. However, I also
plan to create new projects and systems that would make the externalization efforts of SBC more
effective. Furthermore, I will continue the cluster efforts to inculcate volunteerism among Ateneans.

III. PLATFORM

1) Main Point: Stronger SBC Community

Details:
Given the fact that the members of the different SBC organizations share the same passion and culture, my goal is
for them to be more bonded with each other. I will continue some of the projects implemented this year (i.e. BACON
Sessions and Friendship Hours). In order for it to have maximum impact, modules will be crafted for the BACON
Sessions and Friendship Hours. I will also be scheduling these events in such a way that it won’t come in conflict with
any other activity of the SBC orgs. Depending on the approval of the new presidents, we will also be making projects
that would promote inter-org competition in a friendly way (i.e. Minor tasks for each month like parol-making and
Sports Fest).

2) Main Point: Cluster Identity Building

Details:
Efforts will be made to further strengthen the cluster identity among members and non-members. This is primarily in
the form of the re-launching of the PasaHero series. However, supplementary events will be made such as cluster
exhibits and open film showings. Cluster identity materials (i.e. ribbons, pins) will also be given to Ateneans so as to
introduce SBC to the Ateneo. Also connected to the externalization efforts, we will be executing SBCPM (SBC Proud
Member). With the approval of the presidents, we will put the SBC logo in every promotion (i.e. e-mail blasts,
tarpaulins, posters, etc.) that will be done by the organizations for their projects. This is to show that the organizations
are part of a bigger community and to advertise SBC, as well.

3) Main Point: Externalization Efforts

Details:
I will continue the efforts for further externalization of the cluster. Next year, not only the work of the different SBC
organizations will be advertised but more so the causes that they strive for. I will re-launch the PasaHero series but
with the goal of introducing the different orgs and their causes to the Ateneo community, next to the idea of
volunteerism. Next year I hope to do it more effectively through the partnership of the different organizations outside
SBC. With the permission of the different organization presidents, I will make each PasaHero event an optional “Erya”
or organization requirement. I will also advertise the series by having possible tie-ups with the Philo and Theo
Departments.

4) Main Point: Cluster Representation

Details:
I will ensure better representation of the SBC organizations to the COA Central Board. I will make sure that all
organization concerns will be articulated to the Central Board. Also, I will ensure that I will involve the presidents in
the decision-making of the CB. This will be possible through a system of consultation with the presidents. Before
making any vote or decision concerning COA as a whole, I will first consult the presidents regarding their concerns. I
will create a system of internal communication that will make the Central Board more transparent to the presidents.

5) Main Point: Leadership Sustainability and Better Project Management

Details:
An SBC Core Team will be formed. This team will not include the presidents so as to lessen their work concerning the
cluster. There will be 15 people in this team, 7 of which will be the organization representatives from each SBC
organization. The other 8 slots will be open for application from any SBC org member. The formation of this team will
ensure better implementation of the different cluster projects as this team will be the main working arm of the cluster.
This will also ensure leadership sustainability because the core members will also serve as mentees for the CHeSTs.
They will be immersed in the COA and SBC culture so that if any of them will assume presidency of their
organizations or cluster positions the next year, they would be able to continue the work started in the cluster.

6) Main Point: Formation

Details:
I will use my experience in the COA HR Executive Team to hold trainings for SBC officers and project managers.
These trainings will be in the fields of human resources, finance, marketing, project management and OD. The
main focuses of these trainings are on marketing, creating healthy relationships with sponsors and packaging the
organizations so as to have sustainable funding. I will also be asking the help of some of the Executive Teams of
COA for the trainings. The SBC Core team will be one of the main organizers for these events. A system will also
be created that would cater to any training need of any organization. For example, if an organization X needs
training on handling finance, the SBC Core team will be the one to handle or at least, arrange the trainings.
