Here the major focus was on the Internet Of Things (IoT) and smart and
connected products. In simple terms, IOT can be defined as an ecosystem of
connected physical objects that are accessible through the internet. Internet of
Things can connect devices embedded in various systems to the internet.
When devices/objects can represent themselves digitally, they can be
controlled from anywhere. The connectivity then helps us capture more data
from more places, ensuring more ways of increasing efficiency and improving
safety and IoT security. IoT platforms can help organizations reduce costs
through improved process efficiency, asset utilization, and productivity.

For example, Smart Homes allows optimum security and convenience. With IoT
lighting of the house or air conditioning can be controlled through the internet.
That means that you can actually control the temperature of your room even
before you have reached the home.
This also means that devices like TV, Microwave, refrigerator are also
connected to the internet and can be controlled at any time.

The building blocks of IoT are

Class 3,4 and 5

These classes were focused on Robotics Process Automation(RPA), Artificial
Intelligence(AI) and Machine Learning(ML)
Robotic process automation is the use of specialized computer programs,
known as software robots, to automate and standardize repeatable business
processes. The bots work directly across application user interfaces, mimicking
the actions a person would perform, including logging in and out of
applications, copying and pasting data, opening emails and attachments, and
filling out forms. In simple terms RPA allows organizations to automate tasks
just like a human being was doing them.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is an area of computer science that emphasizes the

creation of intelligent machines that work and react like humans. Some of the
activities computers with artificial intelligence are designed for include:

Speech recognition
Learning
Planning
Problem solving

Artificial Intelligence works with large amounts of data which are first
combined with fast, iterative processing and smart algorithms that allow the
system to learn from the patterns within the data. This way, the system would
be able to deliver accurate or close to accurate outputs.
Machine Learning is the learning in which a machine can learn by its own from
examples and previous experiences. The program developed for it need not be
specific and is not static. The machine tends to change or correct its algorithm
as and when required. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are
the two most commonly misinterpreted terms. Generally, people tend to
understand that they are the same, which leads to confusion. ML is a subfield
of AI. However, both terms are recalled simultaneously and repeatedly
whenever the topics of Big Data or Data Analytics, or some other related
topics, are talked about.

Class 6
A smart city is a municipality that uses information and communication
technologies (ICT) to increase operational efficiency, share information with
the public and improve both the quality of government services and citizen
welfare.

Major characteristics are used to determine a city's smartness. These

characteristics include:
• a technology-based infrastructure;
• environmental initiatives;
• a high functioning public transportation system;
• a confident sense of urban planning and
• humans to live and work within the city and utilize its resources.

A smart city's success depends on its ability to form a strong relationship

between the government including its bureaucracy and regulations and the
private sector. This relationship is necessary because most of the work that is
done to create and maintain a digital, data-driven environment occurs outside
of the government. Smart cities use a combination of the internet of things
(IoT) devices, software solutions, user interfaces (UI) and communication
networks. However, they rely first and foremost on the IoT. Smart cities utilize
their web of connected IoT devices and other technologies to achieve their
goals of improving the quality of life and achieving economic growth.

Class No 7

This class was focused on the Blockchain technology as disruptive innovation.

Blockchain can be described as a data structure that holds transactional
records and while ensuring security, transparency, and decentralization. A
blockchain is a distributed ledger that is completely open to any and everyone
on the network. Once information is stored on a blockchain, it is extremely
difficult to change or alter it.
Each transaction on a blockchain is secured with a digital signature that proves
its authenticity. Due to the use of encryption and digital signatures, the data
stored on the blockchain is tamper-proof and cannot be changed
