Lived Experience of Working Students with Academic Challenge

Rationale
Many students are working while studying. They could improve their grades while
promoting in their job aspects that corresponds with academic success. But working while
studying is very hard to do and why other students do it? It’s because of lack of financial
support. They need to work very well for his/her study. You need a time management, time
for your work and reducing time for your study or school works. Working should be with
academic success.
Setting of the Problem
Malay National High School is one of the remarkable school in the Province of
Aklan. Every time that they join in any contest our school will won. But many students of
Malay National High School student experience less sleep and less time to study because they
work for their wants and needs for the school. They even experienced stress in occupying
school work while they are in job just to manage their school bills. Some of the working
students in Malay National High School don’t have their parents that’s why they need to
work for their school bills.
Literature Foundation
A study on the correlation between work and academic performance menu skip to
content the effect of working while in school background. One of the Disadvantage of being a
student while holding a job is that they are often short on time and commonly find themselves
with limited time to study, sleep, and maintain healthy eating habits. In a study conducted by
Gorgulho, one of the complaints among working student is that they find themselves without
enough time to eat right (Gorgulho, et al.,2012).
Seriousness of the Problem
Working while in school it’s hard to do, the full time of students tend to spend less
time of study and focus work when in home. This can cause of stress to student. A time of
being a student is limited they cannot do school activities. You must have a time manage so
that you can do your part of a student
General Objective
Many students feel that taking on a part-time job will distract from their studies at
school. Although it does take extra effort to hold down a job and still get good grades at the
same time.
General Purpose
The purpose of this study was to determine both the positive and negative aspect of
working student. How they manage their time for work and student.
 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Every single working students of Malay National High School has a lack of sleep,
nutrients, stress, and etc. These are the problems that working students face every day.
However, they even manage their time to work for their assignments and projects just to
maintain their grades.

GAP

Most of students enjoy their jobs because it offers a certain degree of financial and
personal freedom. The money they get from working while studying is used for a variety of
purposes. Some students use it to settle their rent and utility bills while others create small
business using the same funds.

PURPOSE OF THE PROBLEM

Students build their skill, professional references, and networks on the personal side,
students can make a valuable difference in our community while exploring their interests.
Questions:

1.) What is the profile of the respondents based on the following:

a.) Gender
b.) Age

2.) What common job do the Malay NHS working students have?

3.) What is the time schedule of work the Malay NHS working students?
 Karl Max’s Theory
Karl Max ideas for society, although generated from a structured society and historical
experiences and evolution of societies, is based on conflict of classes. Conflict theory may be true
during this time. Nowadays, there are no conflict between and among classes unless the classes are
cognizant, agitated and directed. There are some segments who are submissive and tolerant to their
situations may they be be lower or higher in strata. A significant stock of workers and peasants are in
harmony with their capitalist employers, government-employers. And landlord-capitalists while some
of the so called bourgeoisie are offended by poletariats, and some proletariats are offended by their
fellow proletariats, and the poor are oppressed by the poor who climbed to power.. Antonio Gramsci
described them as people with the “common sence” of the proletariat. In Gramsi’s time, 99% of the
proletariats were illiterate. Their common sence (uneducated sence)

PURPOSEFUL OR PURPOSIVE SAMPLING

Selection criteria need to be set very clearly before the beginning of the study. It is
good to explain why these selection criteria are important for the purpose of study. Involves
handpicking subjects, usually to suit very specific in intentions. This also called judgemental
sampling.
