m? Morrisons is one of the largest supermarkets in the UK that offer branded and own label
products.

m? Morrisons focus heavily on their market street compared to their competitors ± Produce,
Bakery, Butchers, Fishmonger, and Delicatessen. As seen on their recent adverts, they are the
only supermarket out of the top 4 that prepare and cut fresh meat in store.

m? xhey currently have bought out several cooperative branches so they can expand.

m? Morrisons are very popular in the North of England due to their decision of taking over
Safeway¶s and especially their BOGOF deals.

 

m? No online shopping, however this could be a possible strength at the same time. Marc Bolland
(ex- CEO) said that by having online shopping, it will ruin Morrisons¶ vision. Customers will
lose the feeling of picking fresh fruit and vegetables or smelling the bakery when they walk
past.

m? Still not that recognisable in the South of England however they are currently opening new
stores in southern locations to solve this issue. 

m? Πbelieve their stores are not as big as the other top supermarkets, therefore cannot hold a big
range of products and brands. Less choice available for customers.
For example: Asda and xesco offer a range of cultural foods for Asians (Halal foods) and
Eastern Europeans etc. Morrisons unfortunately don¶t.

Morrison¶s culture.

m? Asda¶s and xesco¶s range a wide variety of clothing. Perhaps Morrisons can compete and
range clothes. xhat¶s if their stores are big enough which they aren¶t. 


 

m? Any possible takeover/ mergers occurring from Asda, xesco or Sainsbury¶s. Œf one of these
supermarkets takeover another smaller supermarket such as Œceland. xhey will become bigger
and more likely to charge lower prices. Harder for Morrisons to compete.

m? xhe constant advertisements that Asda do that compares 1000¶s of prices and says Asda are
offer cheaper prices compared to the other top 3 supermarkets.
