Class in the 19th Century

Primary source: Anderson, J. (Aug. 7, 1865). Jourdon Anderson Writes to His Former Master

The advantages of a booming economy apparently is that there will be alternative choices, the bulk of
oppurtunities provided by industrialized economy in the 19th century helps to create competitions, with
the birth of technology in the industrial world at the time, the citizen are with open arms ready to
welcome new immigrants, not because they fester on their already scarce sources of income, but
because it means prosperity for them as the demands and continous availability of oppurtunity/work
could no longer be handled by few hands. Immigrants on the other hand, are usually set out to seek a
greener pasture, be it financially or to seek sanctuary. The wake of technology paved way for unskilled
individual that they may be part of production processes without many years of experienced but as part
of relatively simple factor of production.

The letter "Jourdon Anderson Writes His Former Master, 1865" is a typical example of alternative sources
of livelihood that became possible only in the 19th century, it does not only tell on slaves in the united
state, it affected the influx of immigrants as the achievements is thus something to write home about,
thereby encouraging the upcoming generation to follow in the same step as it may be perceived to bear
a worthy endevour.

"The great desire of my life now is to give my children an education, and have them form virtuous
habits." Jourdon as stated in his letter, could also leave a legacy and lived a free man, which is a worthy
news for new immigrants to also set out to such enviroment as it may be perceived as where they can
achieve their dreams.

The various development in the 19th century gave room for reallignment of class or other sub set of
classes, the imperial class as been carried from 17th century, the liberated slave /documented class, the
new immigrant classes, "Working men organized unions to assert themselves and win both the respect
and the resources due to a breadwinner and a citizen."

Prices had preceeded the libration of documented citizen, should a new migrant enjoin the same ? that
bring us to the article "Today’s Banned Immigrants Are No Different From Our Immigrant Ancestors", in
every decision making process, there has to be elimination methods to down size possible choices, the
ban on immigration from seven predominantly Muslim countries does have a different kind of intonation
aside from the supposed threat on the United State of America, because being a threat has never been
the primary purpose of any immigrants, the Visa lottery program has also be designed to be strict and
also contain clauses inoreder to eliminate more immigrants, it is not a matter of what trend immigration
process is taking, albeit positively, the cogent factor in that policy making process is the state of the
economy, if the economy is not already provided jobs for the people on the soil, it becomes the
responsibility of the policy makers, and they give such excuses as it maybe understandable by a layman.
