Doctor of Medicine

Program Educational Objectives


The main goal of the Doctor of Medicine program is to develop professional physicians
for the Philippine healthcare system. The graduate of the Doctor of Medicine program
is a primary care physician who can pursue general private medical practice after
passing the Physician Licensure Examination (PLE). With additional training, graduates
of the MD program may pursue any of the following careers to include:
o General Medical Practitioner
o Local Government Unit Physician
o School Physician
o Company/Corporate physician
o Community Physician
o Clinical Specialist
o Researcher/Medical Scientist/Innovator
o Health Professions Teacher
o Health Administrator
o Health Information Manager
o Health Economist
o Health Policy Maker

Graduates of this program shall be conferred with the degree of Doctor of


Medicine. Graduates may use the title 'M.D." after their names, only after they
have been issued the license to practice medicine by the Professional Regulations
Commission. The degree of Doctor of Medicine is the primary educational
qualification for the Physicians' Licensure Examination (PLE) in the Philippines
which is equivalent to Level 7 of the Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF)
and International Standard Classification of Education (ISCEd).

Nature of the Field of Study


The Doctor of Medicine Program is at least a four-year post-baccalaureate
program consisting of basic science and clinical courses. The College of Medicine
has previously been mainly problem based but has transitioned to outcome based
as recommended by the CHED.

Program Outcomes
The minimum standards for the Doctor of Medicine program are expressed in the
following set of program outcomes aligned with the mission, vision and goals of
the University of Northern Philippines.

Graduates of the Doctor of Medicine Program must be able to:

Admission Requirements
Application Process
1. Applicants to the University of Northern Philippines College of Medicine may
choose to submit requirements via courier or on line:
a. Submission via courier of application documents

b. Online submission
Scanned/photo of necessary documents and the filled out downloadable
application form should be attached as one file to the link provided
The following are the required documents
1) Properly accomplished application form of the UNP College of
Medicine.
2) National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) original and/or certified
true copy with a score of 40% or higher AND must be taken not
more than two (2) years from the time of application to the College
of Medicine (CMed).
3) ORIGINAL/OFFICIAL Transcript of Records of the Baccalaureate
Program together with Certificates of Academic / Class Ranking,
and General Weighted Average
4) Certificate of Honorable Dismissal/Permit To Transfer
5) Certificates of good moral character, addressed to the Dean of UNP
CMed, from two (2) former professors in the last school attended
stating among others that the applicant has no derogatory record.
6) Four copies of 2x2 pictures signed by the applicant on the front of
the picture.
7) Birth certificate issued by Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)
8) For naturalized Filipino citizens, an original Certificate of
Naturalization is required. ONLY original Certificates of
Naturalization and other documents issued by the Commission on
Immigration and Deportation shall be acceptable
2. Once the College has received and confirmed that all requirements have been
complied with, the applicant shall be notified by email of the interview process.
3. Deadline of Submission of Application requirements is on June 30, 2020.
