Lesson: The Three Newtonian Laws of Motion

Prepared by: Angelica C. Camilon

 Identify the underlying principles of the Law of Acceleration.

 Enumerate examples on the application of Law of Acceleration.
 Develop the emotional resiliency among students.

 Greetings
 Prayer
 Online Classroom Etiquette

Title of Activity: Balloon-Powered Car Experiment

Mechanics:
 The teacher will be showing a box to students with an apple inside it.
 The teacher will let the students ask questions which are only answerable by
YES, NO or MAYBE.
 The teacher will answer the students’ question until the students have come
up to the nearest description and finally guess the object that is inside the
box which is an apple.
 The teacher will ask the students about what do they think the lesson will be.
 The teacher will then tell the connection of the object to the Three
Newtonian Laws of Motion.

Follow up questions:
1. In which set did the balloon car travel fastest? How about the slowest?
2. Do you think that mass can influence the speed of an object?

(The teacher will then explain what specific law of motion is exemplified in doing
the activity)
 The Law of Acceleration states that an unbalance force is applied
to an object, the object accelerates in the direction of the force.
 The acceleration depends on the force applied and the mass of the
object.
 Acceleration is directly proportional to the force and inversely
proportional to the mass of the object.
 Relationship between Acceleration and Force: applying less force
will produce less acceleration, and vice versa.
 Relationship between Acceleration and Mass: When the same force
is applied to two objects, the object with more mass will accelerate
less. Therefore, we can say that acceleration is inversely
proportional to the mass of the object when the same force is
applied to the objects.
 The Law of Acceleration can also be mathematically represented as:

a=

Where:
a= acceleration
F= Force
m= mass

Let’s take this diagram as an example:

Grocery cart A Grocery cart B

Which among these grocery cart will have greater acceleration when applied with the
same amount of force?

By applying the of Law of Acceleration, we know that the relationship between

acceleration is inversely proportional, which means to say, that the lighter grocery
cart (A) will have greater acceleration as compared to the heavier grocery cart (B).

Complete the table below by supplying the correct value.

FORCE ACCELERATION MASS

1. _______ 23m/s2 4kg

10N 2. _______ 6kg

27N 33m/s2 3. _______

Moving a massive object will cause you to give much effort. This was proven by
Newton’s second law of motion, the Law of Acceleration.
This pandemic has burdened people with a lot of
challenges that has come in almost all aspect (financial,
emotional, mental, physical, etc.) that many has become
troubled and weary.
In this time of crisis, how did you carry yourself despite
the difficulties that life is throwing at you? Do you dwell on
things that burden you or move on and look on the brighter
side of things?
Dwelling on negative experiences is painful and, when
we hold on to that pain, we can’t move on to something more
positive. How we carry ourselves in this time of crisis is really
important for us to survive. If we do not let ourselves be
burdened with these problems and have a driving force to
move on in what is going on now, surely, we will be able to win
this battle.

TRUE OF FALSE

Directions: Write 😊 if the statement is TRUE and ☹ if the statement is FALSE:

😊 1. The greater the mass of an object, the more it will accelerate when a given
net
force is applied to it.
☹ 2. The acceleration of an object equals its mass times the net force applied to it.
😊 3. Acceleration occurs whenever an object is acted upon by an unbalanced
force.
☹ 4. Newton’s second law of motion shows that there is a direct relationship
between acceleration and mass.
😊 5. If you use the same force to push a 5kg and 3kg boulder, the 3kg boulder will
greater acceleration.
