The rear wheel hub (5) is mounted on the end of the rear axle with two taper roller bearings (3) and
(6). ABS (Antilock Braking System) sensor assembly (1) is mounted on the rear axle fitted with wear
ring (2). The ABS sensor is in contact with sensor wheel (4) on the hub to sense the speed of the
wheel.
The bearings are lubricated with grease. The safety washer (7) is fitted between the hexagon nut (8)
and the outer bearing (6). This is designed so that the bearing can slide against it if the bearing
brakes down. The safety washer(7) is prevented from rotating on the axle by a keyway on the end of
the spindle.
The bearing clearance is adjusted by means of an adjuster hexagon nut (8), which is kept in place by
lock washer (9) and screws (11). The sealing ring (10) seals against the drive axle shaft, which also
contributes the outer hub seal.
