“Impacts of the Covid-19 Pandemic in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry”
There are so many negative effects happened in the lodging industry due to Covid-19 pandemic
worldwide. Many hotels, entities and other industries were being shut down just to avoid the
widespread of virus. In fact because of this pandemic many workers/employers are temporarily had no
work and some of them are not even paid or the so called "no work no pay" policy. This pandemic cause
our economy become vulnerable and a miserable failure. Due to now, some businesses in lodging
industry are being less only, for example the number of accommodations nowadays are being in a less
percentage because there are no customers or visitors at all during in this kind of pandemic. On the
other hand there are some companies renting hotels and accommodation in this situations for their
workers and employees so that it won't be hard for this people to travel from home, at this point
lodging industry are somehow effective for other businesses.
Aside in lodging industry, the food and beverage industry are also having a difficulties in this
situation in pandemic for example some restaurants and bars are temporarily closing their doors as the
number of covid-19 cases arises in some places therefore employees in this industry had temporarily no
work. At some point of this pandemic some food and beverage industry tried to work even hard just to
uplift in this difficulties situation we are experiencing by means of they creates something new market
strategy for their businesses and for customers, example some restaurants are now promoting online
delivery or delivery of food for customers, they are creating a websites or Facebook pages to promote
their businesses even more. Also some of these businesses are now re-opening to retain their incomes
but with a policy of social distancing, checking of temperature for customers and no mask no entry so
that we could avoid the widespread of corona virus.
We cannot deny that this pandemic cause our economic and tourism sector at risk especially in
travel and transportation industry. Infact tourists and travelers are afraid to go outside or to book a
flight for vacation. Even the foreigner customers or visitors are not allowed to enter in many different
countries and have a travel restrictions just to avoid the widespread of virus. Even now tourist
destinations such as museums, amusement parks, pilgrimages and other destinations have been
affected due to pandemic and lead to a potential loss in tourism. There are no advantages at all in this
industry during this pandemic because it will be hard for it to be back to normal again, even in
passenger’s transportation it becomes limited for those travelers because there's a social distancing that
we must need to follow.

“Career Opportunities in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry”

I think my possible career that I would take after taking my course program of tourism
management is to be a flight attendant. Since my course program that I currently taking up will help me
to learn more about the sectors of tourism industry and other fields in this course, I become motivated
to pursue a job airlines and to travel around the world. I am aiming to learn more about in tourism
industry especially to meet the qualifications to be a flight attendant because this will be a great chance
to know the cultures, languages, communications, traditions, religions and other customs of passengers
and to give them a quality services that they need.
