CHAPTER III

RESULS AND DISCUSSION

1. The function of the Oil Pump, Components and How It Works

Oil pump (oil pump) is one important component in the car

engine lubrication system. Oil pump serves to put

pressure on engine oil so that oil can circulate

throughout the engine lubrication system. The oil pump

will suck up engine oil that has been collected in the

oil pan (oil pan / oil sump) to be pumped so that the

engine oil that is in the path of the lubrication system

has pressure.   The pressure on the oil finally makes the

engine oil move throughout the lubrication system path

and lubricate the engine parts. After lubrication occurs

the engine oil will fall and be accommodated back into

the oil pan and then circulated again

3
2. HOW TO WORK OIL PUMP

As already stated the types and components of oil pumps, oil pumps have 2 gears

(drive and driven) and a casing that has inlet (in) and outlet (out) holes. Besides the

drive gear is connected to the crankshaft (engine crankshaft), camshaft, or connected

to the timing belt as a driving shaft. Therefore, when the engine is running and

spinning, the drive gear will also spin and rotate the driven gear. The effect of

rotating the drive gear and driven gear will make the oil suction power into the pump

in the inlet hole and produce compressive power out through the outlet

hole. However, before engine oil enters the oil pump, engine oil will flow through a

filter in the oil pan called the strainer. The strainer works to prevent large-sized

impurities from getting sucked into the oil pump. That way, the engine oil that enters

the oil pump is clean from large impurities. This will prevent the oil pump from

being damaged. After that, engine oil is circulated throughout the engine lubrication

system to lubricate all working engine components.

4
CHAPTER IV

COVER

a. CONCLUSION

In the treatment of the oil pump should be careful because this will be
fatal to the engine if experiencing trouble

b. SUGGESTION

The maintenance must be optimal because this has an impact on the

engine when running the engine will quickly heat up and will even be fatal if the
oil pump does not function
