A. Recall a recent incident in your life when you had to make a decision. Narrate
the situation below. Indicate what the decision was about, the factors that were
involved and how you arrived at your decision.

My recent incident when it comes to decision making happened this morning. I woke
up at four o'clock in the morning and my eyes were opened. The first thing that goes into
my mind is that if I was going to wake up or not but I decided to wake up for me to have
an advanced study for our lessons. At that point, I wondered if I would take a bath or not
because the temperature was so cold this morning and the water was also freezing.
Then, the first thing I considered to make a decision is my health because my eyes have
a defective and I have the stigmatism so I decided to take a bath even though the water
was cold. And for me, I had made the right decision. It’s simple but meaningful.

B. What are the implications of Freud’s theory to education?

Freud’s psychoanalitic theory includes five distinct stages. It deals with the
personality that comes from inner, unconscious force, memories and conflicts on
early life experiences of a human. In this theory, there are three (3) personal
structure of personality called the id, which talks about goals of seeking pleasure, the
ego, the rational part of the mind and the superego which means the moral aspect of
a person.
Human beings, from birth, possess an instinctual libido that develops the five
stages: oral, anal, phallic, latent and genital stage. Those stages develops by the
help of parents and environment.
A comprehension of Freud’s theory may give educators understanding into the
significance of oblivious emotions and drives that motivates their students. In
addition, educators can assist students to be more aware of his or her own

A. Read the situations below then answer the questions.

1. It’s Christmas and Uncle Bob is giving “aguinaldo” to the children. Three year-old
Karen did not want to receive the one hundred peso bill and instead preferred
to receive four 20 peso bills. Her ten year-old cousins were telling her its better to
get the one hundred bill, but they failed convince her.

Why do you think did Karen prefer the 20-peso bills?

I think it’s because the thinking of a three-year-old Karen is that the value
of money is greater when the quantity of it is many like the four pieces of 20-peso
bills that she prefer to receive instead of 100-peso bill that has only one quantity.

animals or more bears?” Tria and Enzo says, “stuffed animals.” Riel says “Bears.”

Because when we relate it to Cognitive development of a person, the 4

year old Riel is in the pre-operational stage. She thought that the bear is different
from the stuffed animals that’s why she said the bear as a response to her mom.

While eating on her high chair, seventh-month old Liza accidentally dropped her
spoon on the floor. She saw mommy pick it up. Liza again her new spoon, and
she does this several times more on purpose. Mommy didn’t like it at all but Liza
appeared to enjoy dropping the spoons the whole time.

The reason why baby Liza enjoyed dropping the spoon several times it’s
because she knows in her mind that whenever she dropped the spoon, her mom
would pick it up for her.

C. Answer the following questions.

1. As a future teacher in the elementary or secondary school, how will you apply your
knowledge of the process of equilibration and Piaget's stages of development in your
classroom? How does this knowledge influence your selection of what to teach and
how to teach it?

As a future educator of secondary school, I will apply my knowledge about the

process of equilibration and Piaget’s stages of development in my classroom by
taking some strategies. We all know that children can create different ideas in their
mind that the environment and their parents put to them. So for me, I will teach them
through relating a new information to their existing knowledge so that they will learn
it easily. In addition, I will also create a learning environment in which it is attractive
to the student’s learning. By knowing their prior knowledge, skills and abilities, I will

depend my teaching strategies on them so that they will better understand and keep
that knowledge on their mind.

Why does a teacher prefer the use of more concrete instructional methods in
teaching to encourage students to think more formally?

Because I believe that by using more concrete instructional methods of teaching,

students will learn more and understand the lesson of what their teacher teaches.
Through the use of different fun activities, they will easily recall what did their
teacher thought to them. It helps their brain function well and develop.
