Overview of the construction industry

The world of construction can be seen as an important part of the world economy due to the high
demand that it has, which can be seen reflected in the growth of populations, bringing with it various
needs that must be met, it is necessary to keep this on mind, since this definition allows us to
understand the magnitude of the field in which one is or wants to enter, at the same time you can
understand the responsibility of a person who decides to be part of the various processes that the
construction brings.

Any person who makes the decision to enter or become part of this system must be clear about their
obligations or tasks and know that the way which they are executed will directly affect the perception
of each of the entities that are part of the environment. It depends on each person to forge a good
image, for this to happen the obligations must be fulfilled in a way that is considered correct.
Currently the world of construction is consumed in corruption due to the different arbitrary processes
that some entities have been carrying out in order to cover a high percentage of construction
processes and thus obtain high financial benefits. The only ones that have the opportunity to change
this event are the students, who can promote a favorable vision in the reputation of the industry,
through the application of a practical code of ethics. The areas of work in construction are very
extensive, so they have been categorized in some branches as: residential constructions, these include
small works such as homes and apartments; commercial constructions, in this category reference is
made to the constructions of buildings, libraries, shops, schools, among others; industrial
constructions, within which we can find factories, refineries, hospitals, among other large
constructions, finally there are heavy constructions (bridges and dams) and roads. These categories
are defined by the social interest, however, there is another way to categorize the constructions that
depends on the direction of the same, so there are horizontal constructions (roads, bridges, dams and
other constructions that are perpendicular to the direction of gravity) and vertical constructions
(shopping centers, residential or industrial buildings, that is, they have different levels of height from
the ground)
The realization of the constructions is linked to the fund that finances them. There are two major
types of fund currently marked, which are: the private fund, where the money comes from companies
or independent people and can be used in the way that they they consider appropriate, and the public
or state fund, here the money must be used in the best possible way complying with the requirements
and needs that the population has, due to it is a resource that is obtained from them. There are
different ways to participate in construction and all are interrelated, for example, in a building are:
the owner, engineers (different areas), architects, skilled labor for construction (masonry,
construction masters), contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, among others. This is where the main
failure in the construction is evidenced by the little or no participation of the administrative
management, who is in charge of supervising all the parties involved in the process and optimizing
resources for a good profitability. All the phases of the Construction can be controlled from the
implementation of different codes and standards established by engineering associations or institutes
worldwide, this allows quality standards to be set and there is equity in construction regardless of its
purpose.
In conclusion it is important to understand the construction as the relationship of different processes,
in which there must be a good management governed by technical standards and an ethical code to
get the success in the project and thus get the collective benefit.
