CBCS Structure, Subject Combination and


Examination Pattern Guideline

A meeting on CBCS was held on 12.07.2017 in the chamber of the Controller of


Examinations, CBPBU at 12.00 noon.

 The following members were present in the meeting:

1) Dr. Pradip Kr. Kar, Controller of Examinations (Offg.), CBPBU

2) Dr. Sadhan Ch. Kar, Principal, Dinhata College

3) Dr. Tarun Bandyopadhyay, Principal, Netaji Subhas Mahavidyalaya

4) Dr. Pankaj Debnath, Principal, Cooch Behar College

5) Dr. Afzal Hossain, Principal, Sitalkuchi College

6) Dr. Shasanka Kr. Gayen, Associate Professor, Department of Geography, CBPBU

6) Mr. Soumyajit Sen, Assistant Controller of Examinations (Offg.), CBPBU

 The agenda of the meeting were:

1) To discuss issues related to CBCS for undergraduate courses.

2) Misc.

 The resolutions taken in the meeting were as following:

1) Practical Examinations (UG) should be completed before the commencement of the


theoretical examinations.

2) Prescribed proforma with registration no. to be served by the Controller of
Examinations, CBPBU fixing the date of the Internal Examinations.

3) Question Pattern and Marks Distribution for the CBCS will be as followed:

For Arts Subjects (Hons. & Program):

15 Marks – 1 Question = 15

10 Marks – 1 Question = 10

5 Marks – 1 Question = 5

1 Mark – 10 Questions = 10

Internal = 10 (Attendance 4 + Continuing Evaluation 6)

For Science Subjects (Hons. & Program):

10 Marks – 1 Question = 10

5 Marks – 1 Question = 5

1 Mark – 10 Question = 10

4) Distribution of Examination Hours:

a. 2 Hours for 40 Marks

b. 1.30 Hours for 25 Marks

c. 2 Hours for 15 Marks (For Practical Examinations)

5) Combination of Subjects:

 Discipline I will be the Program Course.

For Arts: Students have to select any 2 discipline courses (DSC) from 3 following
groups for Program:

Group – 1 Group – 2 Group – 3

Bengali History Political Science

English Philosophy Geography

Sanskrit Education Physical Education

Arabic Economics Sociology

For Science: Students have to select any 3 discipline courses (DSC) from 3
following groups taking 1 from each group:

 Discipline I will be the Program Course.

Group – 1 Group – 2 Group – 3

Chemistry Mathematics Physics

Computer Science Botany Zoology

Physiology

Generic Elective Groups (Hons. Courses):

 A student will have to select 2 Generic subjects from following 2 groups.
Each subject will comprise of 2 papers.

For Semester: I & II For Semester: III & IV

English Economics

Sanskrit Political Science

Arabic Education

Philosophy Geography

Sociology

Generic Elective Groups (Program Courses):

 A student will have to select 2 Generic subjects taking 1 from each group.
Each subject will comprise of 1 paper.

For Semester: V For Semester: VI

6) For regular program in Commerce, combination of subjects is fixed both in


Hons. and Program.

7) ENVS and MIL/English will be distributed as under:

Semester – I (Program) – MIL/English

Semester – II (Hons.) – MIL/ English

Semester – II (Program) – ENVS

8) AECC – ENVS question papers will be in MCQ pattern and computerized OMR sheet
will be provided.

9) Selection of Generic subjects by the students depends on the guided by the college
authority (both for Hons. & Program).

10) Regulations regarding academic calendar, examinations and evaluation etc will be
prepared by the Controller of Examinations in consultation with the existing
committee.

11) Controller of Examinations is requested to place the resolutions to the appropriate


authority for necessary approval.

The meeting ends here with vote of thanks to and from the Chair.
