Using the NetWorker Software Distribution Functionality (NSRPUSH):

Note:

All the below steps created for networker installed on windows & it is the same steps for other
OS (only some syntax changes)

1. Create, Add & Remove software to the repository.


2. Query the current state of repository software.
3. Inventory the existing software install state of clients.
4. Update client software.
5. Inventory the existing software install state of clients.

1. Create, Add & Remove software to the repository.


a. Create a directory and extract the networker binary on it
b. nsrpush -a -p NetWorker -v 8.1.1.3 -P win_x64 -W -m C:\NW -R C:\NW

2. Query the current state of repository software:


a. Nsrpush –l

3. Inventory the existing software install state of clients
a. Nsrpush –I –all

b. Nsrpush –s –all

a. nsrpush -u -p product -v version client/s

5. Inventory the existing software install state of clients.


a. nsrpush -i –all …… {inventory all clients}

b. nsrpush -s –all ……….. {show inventory for all clients }

Notes:

1.2 Tips& tricks:


1- can be used on windows or Linux
2- please make sure you create the repository in a good naming and correct versions
3- make sure of the communications between servers and client
4- DON’T UPGRADE ALL CLIENTS AT THE SAME TIME, MAX 5 AT A TIME WILL BE GOOD
5- Test backup and restore after each upgrade before proceeding
6- Please always make sure to inventory before upgrade
