MOTIVATION LETTER
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am very glad to apply for Master’s study in Brandenburg University of Technology, Cottbus-Senftenberg. I
am from Bangladesh and I graduated from American International University-Bangladesh, one of the top-
ranked universities in the country, in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with a Bachelor of Science
degree program. I awarded a distinction honour’s degree with a CGPA of 3.60/4.00.

Several reasons motivate me to apply for a Master’s degree study in Power Engineering. Firstly, when I
attended my undergraduate study I came across the adventures of researchers, engineers and technologists to
generate vast of power effectively in my country where the power available does not meet the demand of
power. I often spend most of my work time on reading and assimilating different journals, articles, papers
and research topics about power generation, transmission and distribution of electrical power. Considering
the current advancements, power related technologies impressed me a lot and thereby motivates me to
pursue my postgraduate study in power engineering and related study area. I demonstrated good
understanding and grade in subjects related to electrical power engineering during my B.Sc. study. Besides,
I used to spend time in the laboratory to learn the practical aspects. During practical courses I learned the
software MATLAB, Simulink, Porteous, HOMER, Microwind, and Power World Simulator, Circuit Maker,
PSIM, P-Spice which help me to be motivated in power engineering. My B.Sc study is in schools and
universities where English is the medium of instruction. Besides, I scored six in IELTS academic module
which clears my English language proficiency. I am also keen to learn German language, and I passed A1-
level of German as well. Therefore, I strongly believe that my educational qualification and motive towards
the subject matter make me a suitable candidate for this program in this German university.

It is well-known that Germany is one of the best countries in Europe where there are a number of best
universities especially for engineering. My desire to pursue my postgraduate study emanates not only from
this but also from the similarities in academic organization between my country and Germany since most of
educational curriculums in my country are created from the experience of German’s curriculum. Besides,
from my early age, I am highly interested to know the culture and norms of German people.

The concrete reason for my choice to take part specifically in Brandenburg University of Technology is the
in-depth trainings in the fundamentals of electrical power engineering and the chance to get a high
interdisciplinary program which brings together experts and knowledge from different related fields of
Engineering, Physics, Computer Science and management, unlike other universities in power engineering.
After pursuing my master’s program in BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, I wish to build my carrier in power sector
in my country. I will work for enhancing the supply of power considering the demand delivering the
knowledge to power engineering.

Generally, I believe that I fulfill all the criteria for your program, and I am highly motivated on the field of
Power Engineering. So, I will be glad to take part in your program, and I hope I will join your academy in
this winter session to achieve my educational and future career goals.
