General objectives:
1.1 Removing the global meaning of a message clearly articulated, delivered
by a normal speed
1.2 Identify specific information in a short message heard clearly and slowly
articulated
1.3 Identify essential information in a standard speech on familiar topics

Aims:-to check attendance


-to check homework
-to discover the title of the new lesson
-to familiarise Ss with means of transport
-to familiarise Ss with road signs
-to read and listen for specific information
-to match the road signs with their meanings
-to write sentences using must/ mustn't
-to find the odd word out
-to circle the correct answer
-to complete the sentences
-to choose: true or false
-to create the knowledge tree

Development of the lesson

Activity 1: Checking attendance


Aims:-to check attendance
Skills: speaking
Type of interaction: T-SS, SS-T
Timing: 2 min
Procedure:-T greets SS and checks if all students are present:
“Who is absent today?”
-SS answer

Activity 2: Checking Homework


Aims:-to check homework
Skills: speaking
Timing: 2 min
Type of interaction: T-SS, SS-T
Procedure:-T. asks SS if they had any homework
-T. asks SS if there have been any problems in solving
it
-SS read their homework( unit 9e)
-T. corrects them if it’s necessary

Activity 3: Warm-up activity


Aims:-to discover the title of the new lesson
Skills: speaking, writing
Timing: 7 min
Type of interaction: T-SS, SS-T
Individual work
Procedure:-T. asks SS to complete the puzzle and discover the
title of the new lesson
-SS complete the puzzle with previous
knowledge(supermarket, bookshop, fast food, music shop, cinema,
bank, toy shop) and discover the new title: Road signs
-T writes the title and the date on the blackboard
-SS write the title and the date in their notebooks
Activity 4
Aims: -to familiarise Ss with means of transport
Skills: speaking
Timing: 3 min
Type of interaction: T-SS, SS-T
Individual work

Procedure:-T tells Ss to look at th pictures in ex.1


-T goes through the different means of transport
-Ss repeat, either chorally or individually
-T invites a S to read out the example and asks Ss to
make sentences, as in the example

Activity 5
Aims:-to familiarise Ss with road signs
-to read and listen for specific information
Skills: speaking, reading, listening
Timing: 10 min
Type of interaction-SS, SS-T
Individual work
Procedure:-T asks Ss to look at the road signs on p.95
-T explains that there are signs at the side of roads to
give information to road users
- Ss read the questions aloud
-T plays the recording
-T allows Ss some time to read the text again and
answer the questions
-T corrects them if it’s necessary

Activity 6
Aims: -to match the road signs with their meanings
-to write sentences using must/ mustn't
-to find the odd word out
-to circle the correct answer
-to complete the sentences
Skills: speaking, writing, reading, listening
Timing: 20 min
Type of interaction: T-SS, SS-T, SS-SS
Team work
Procedure:
-T asks the leaders to choose a number from 1 to 5
-T gives the exercises to the teams
-Ss solve the exercises
-T asks Ss to give their paper to the team near them.
-Ss solve all 5 exercises
-T asks Ss to come to the flipchart and write the
answers
- T corrects them if it’s necessary
Activity 7 Feed-back
Aims: - -to choose: true or false
-to create the knowledge tree
Skills: speaking, writing, listening, reading
Timing: 4 min
Type of interaction T-SS, SS-T
Individual work
Procedure:-T gives SS a worksheet and asks them to complete
with true or false
-SS write the worksheet
-SS write the answers on the flipchart
-T corrects them if it’s necessary
-T asks SS to draw a smiling face on the leaf if the
answer is right and a sad one if the answer is wrong
-T asks SS to come to the blackboard and put the leaf
with the smiling face in the tree and the sad one near the tree

Activity 8: Homework
Timing: 2 min
Procedure: T rewards the best answer given today
T asks SS to solve Self Check, p.96
