What is the Beaverton School's Bond Issue?

The Beaverton Beavers Bond Proposal will focus on our aging and older facilities,
transportation, safety and instruction of our students, eventually benefiting every
student in our district. The bond will not only provide a better learning environ-
ment; it will provide facilities and transportation that are safe and secure.

As the Superintendent of Schools, I am excited to improve the SAFETY, SECURITY

AND ACADEMICS OF OUR STUDENTS IN BEAVERTON! -Greg Paxton AI( ^

Why Now?
The district has fallen behind on capital improvements due to reduced funding by
the State of Michjgaaand the district cutting over 5 million dollars in expenditures
over the past/TO year^. The district's aging bus fleet, roofs, and buildings are in
need to be reptacetTor repaired for the next generation of kids. The district has
no sinking fund to cover expenses to meet the needs of our maintenance costs.
We are obligated to prepare our students for the 21st century. So let's keep our
dollars for the instruction of kids and let the bond maintain our capital improve-
ments.

Why not use the district's operating budget?

—Our Bond Proposal will help maintain our general operating budget, so that it can
be used for instructional purposes within the districtrlf we can free revenue from
the bond, which can be used for maintenance and facilities, it will allow the gen-
eral operating fund to focus on needs in the
classroom that directly affect kids in their
daily instruction.

/ was extremely proud of our community, school staff, and board members as
we went through this bond process. At all times, the focus was on what would
best serve the children of this school district. Many of you have lived here
because of the excellent schools that we are blessed with, and I hope that the
brochure answered some of your questions and concerns. I know that every
school board member would welcome any questions that you might have re-
garding the details of this school bond election. My personal email is gpax-
ton@brs.cgresd.net if I can help answer any questions. Thank you!
