Executive Summary:

Being a student of Master's in Defense and Diplomatic studies department, it was a

demand of my mam to complete two months community work in any government

organization. It was a wonderful experience of my life; I learned lot of things there

because it was practical work not just theoretical. It developed skills and

techniques directly applicable to the field. Moreover, help to analyze the eye and

related health issues among common people. I also gained the information about

the prevalence and treatment strategies of various eye diseases as well as how to

deal with it. I did counseling to the patients who were anxious about their

operations. I also worked in pharmacy department and in laboratory. It was

awesome experience of learning and it helped me to be more compassionate and

kinder towards the people of our community because they really need us.

The objectives of my community work:

My objectives of community work were to serve the community as much as I can

along this to explore the problems of my community so that I can take some

positive steps to solve their problems.

 it has developed facility with arrange of skill including interview,

counseling and therapy

 It has developed skills and techniques directly applicable to the field

  To develop the positive attitude towards the needy people

 To analyze the social issues which our community is suffering from

 To enhance my communication skills and confidence along with other

expertise

 Increased my passion about the eradication of eye and related issues

Overview of Organization:

Al-Shifa hospital is the famous hospital and this hospital is working for the

betterment of our society. Primary and secondary health care facilities are to be

provided to the patient in this hospital. These hospitals provide better and valuable

treatment for ordinary as well as for all the people of the country.

Aim of Organization:

This hospital is working with the aim of prevention and control of blindness

regardless of gender, race, color, and religion. It is maintaining good health and

prevent people, which plays an important role in health promotion.

Work Schedule

My two months of working in the abovementioned hospital was divided into four

days. All the four days were spent in different departments of the hospital. The

duty timings of the community work were from 8:00 a.m. in the morning till 2:00
p.m. in the evening. The work done and duties performed in these four days are

listed below :

Before introducing me to the medical processes and the patients, my

supervisor gave me some paper work to handle. On this day, I filled the forms

of the patients including their names, their addresses and contact numbers. I

also guided them to different rooms of the hospitals and introduced them to

their required doctor. This task was very easy and interesting.. The purpose of

this task was to make me familiar with the hospital environment.

Dr. Madiha took me to the female medicine ward with her. She introduced me

to the patients who were admitted in the ward. I spent five hours with those

patients and asked about their diseases painful condition. I tried my level best

to relieve and calm those patients of their critical condition at hospital. The

patients shared their feelings and painful condition with me. The purpose of

this exercise was to make them feel relaxed. I enjoyed this activity so much.

Then, I went to pharmacy department. My task was to enter the MRI number and

then after selecting the recommended medicines I have to save that data. After
doing this, I gave them medicines with the proper instruction and recommended

dosage. Firstly, it was bit difficult for me because it was not related to my field but

with the help of supervisor, I have done that successfully. She appreciated my

computer skills. This task was most interesting for me

My last day in the hospital was a jam-packed one as it brought lots of duties and

tasks for me. As it was my last day, so I had become familiar with the hospital’s

environment and its rules and regulations. On the fourth day, my supervisor

assigned me the task of dressing the patients. As I was not the doctor myself, so I

just had to assist the nurse in the work I also went to laboratory in which I took

information about the blood test/sample. It was really informative and interesting.

Conclusion

My two months spent in the hospital were advantageous and in erudition

environment. It was experience of awesomeness because it gave me inner

satisfaction; I observed that almost 40% population of our country is suffering

from serious kind of eye diseases. However, it was my subject requirement but I

have taught professional as well other skills. It was very new experience and it

provided me a good exposure towards new and interesting things. After doing this

I become more compassionate and kinder towards needy and deserving people. We

should aware people to take good care of this great vision blessing of ALLAH.
