Application Menu – The main menu that allows you to save, print, load and create new projects
Quick Access Tool Bar – Shortcut symbols that allow you to do actions quickly
Tabs – Allow you to access the different options available in the program. They are categorized by their
actions.
Tools – Each icon in a tab has tools. Each tool will do a different action.
Info Center – This area allows you access to help or specific knowledge you are looking for.
Properties Menu – Allows you to change the details of an object. Ex. Height of walls, and size of windows
Elevation Tags – Allows you to see what the project looks like from each of the four sides.

For this project we will designate the following North (top), South (bottom), East (right), and West (left).

Big Tip: When you are stuck in an action, something you don’t want to do or created something
you didn’t want, here is how to get out of it or fix it!
Project Browser:
When moving from 3-D view to floor plan views use the Project Browser.
ZOOM OPTIONS
Right Click for your options;
Zoom in Region (click and drag around the area you want to see.)
Zoom Out 2x – zooms out a little at a time.
Zoom to Fit – will fit everything you have drawn on one screen
You can also use the roller on the mouse to zoom in and out.

Note: The closer in you are to an item, the smaller the amount you can move it.
Note: The Properties Menu changes to the Properties Menu for a Wall
1. Choose the type of wall you would like to construct.
Click on the Wall Type in the Properties Menu
In the pull down menu you can choose any type of wall that matches
the construction of your school.
(Most are Brick on Metal Stud)
Continue to make your walls by dragging your cursor downward vertically until the number reads
35’-0” and click once.
Then continue around until you have a square making the four walls of a room.
(Do not worry if you are not exact we will fix it in the next step.)
Use the measurements of the classroom you found during the previous Area and Perimeter
Lesson.
Adding a Door Style: (Choose a door that is the same or similar to the door in your classroom.)
To insert a door, hover the cursor over the wall and click when you have found the correct position.
Repeat as needed.
Adding a Window Style: (Choose a window that is the same or similar to the windows in your classroom.)
To insert a window, hover the cursor over the wall and click when you have found the correct position.
Repeat as needed.
The new piece of furniture will now be in the Properties window as a choice.
Big Tips:
You only have to load a component once and it will remain in your component/element
list along with its different sizes.
Search for the best furniture to match your room. It may not be exact.
Once you have gotten the routine on how to find the different items of furniture you
can load anything using the same process.
Chairs, Computers, Windows, Doors, Appliances, Sinks, Toilets, etc.

Click Modify
Click on item you want to rotate (It should now be highlighted in blue)
Click Rotate
Note: You may need to practice with this tool to get more accurate with it.

Rotating in 3-D
>Use the new movement tool in the right hand corner to spin and see the elevations.
>By clicking on the individual sides of the box you can look at the elevations.
An elevation is a view of only one side.
If you edit within the 3-D view it will also be changed in the Floor Plan Views.
Chair

Click once on the East, South, and West Walls until the four Walls are highlighted Pink.
Roof
Click on the North Wall (Be sure to click on the outside of the wall so that it looks like below)
Click once on the East, South, and West Walls until the four walls are highlighted pink.
The line will be outside of the actual walls to allow for an overhang.
When asked if you want to attach the highlighted walls to the roof?
Reply (Yes)
The walls will stop being pink. To check that you completed the roof, go to the 3-D view.
Visual Style in 3-D: The automatic option is (Hidden Line), Black and White
Wireframe – You can see through the building and every line that makes up the drawing.
Hidden Line – Shows the building in a black and white, solid form
Shaded – Puts color and shading into the picture without defining edges.
Shaded with Edges – Shows the building in the standard colors with all shadows and edges.
(Best for frequent switching of drawings.)
Consistent Color – Shows the coloring of materials without shadows.
Realistic – Allows the most detailed view of the building. Shows the details in materials,
color and shadow. The most realistic of all the options.
• Do not over click, wait for the computer to finish its task.
• If something doesn’t work the first time, try again.
• READ, READ, READ the directions carefully.
• Use the tutorial as a reference if you forget how to do something.
