Read the following text. Then, answer questions (a) – (j).

During his schooldays, Hafiz was always considered a dreamer. Teachers often hauled him
up in class because he seemed to be idling and not paying attention. He would always be jotting
down strange notes and drawing strange pictures during class.

When the teacher asked him about the topic being taught, most often his answers were
generalised. Most students would repeat what the teacher had said. But Hafiz was different. His
answers were not wrong. They fit the topic of study. But they never fitted with what the teacher was
saying. The teachers were mystified about this, because when it came to the exams, Hafiz always
scored good marks.

Once, the education department came up with a movie-making project for students. The
whole class and all the teachers saw Hafiz become a totally transformed person. Hafiz was the first
to sign up for the project. At the beginning itself, when the visiting instructors were explaining about
scripts and screenplays to the students, Hafiz provided sets of completed screenplays and scripts. He
even detailed the locations for the movie. He took everybody by surprise.

Only then did his teachers realize Hafiz’s character. He was always ahead in his studies.
When teachers were teaching a particular topic in class, Hafiz would have already studied the
lessons himself much earlier. Hafiz was very passionate about the cinema. He always quickly finished
his studies his studies so that he could spend time researching about movies. The truth was that
Hafiz was learning at a faster pace than the school timetable.

It came as no surprise when Hafiz, now a full-time movie director, won the best movie, best
direction and best screenplay awards at last year’s National Film Awards. His next project is in
Hollywood.
