Courteney McClutchy

FIVE YEAR PLAN

YEAR 1
I would like to get a traveling gig before or right around showcase and then after that has
completed make my way back to NYC and settle/start to reconnect with agencies but the
following are the different avenues depending on what happens
*Not only is a major desire of mine to travel after school but I’m trying to go to NYC with
money and have if not all, most of my student debt paid off because of that

❖ Follow an avenue of theatre that travels/gets me out of U.S. for a moment

o Cruise (Auditions in Tampa and Orlando; so I would go home for a couple days for
Disney and Holland; Royal Caribbean and RWS coming next semester)
o national tour (receive auditions from showcase or go into any auditions that I can the
week of showcase to be seen)
o children’s theatre tour (Baby shark, traveling lantern, theatreworks, reduced
Shakespeare company (goes to UK and Ireland), National Theatre for children)
o West End (I have family in London and right outside of London so this is a feasible
option for me, I would end up getting a 1 year work visa if I chose this path right out
of school)
o finding Nemo in Orlando
❖ IF I GET AN AGENT FROM SHOWCASE I will consider moving to NYC right away if
the agent thinks that’s what’s best and if that’s what I determine will be most productive
❖ If I don’t get an agent and I book nothing that travels I will find a summer gig and
continue making money; I will most likely head back to FL in this case being that my
Pittsburgh lease ends June 1st; I will stay and sublet in Pitt only if I get some theatre gig
during the summer months because I can also work at my restaurant job if that is what
ends up happening and then move to NY by August/September
o if I’m in NY look for a casting agency internship or assistant gig, be a Servers
assistant at a high end restaurant, nanny on week nights I’m available
❖ Things I just want to do year 1 if I can
o 5 day intensive at Second City; this summer if I am able
https://www.secondcity.com/courses/chicago/conservatory-program/
o send in audition for big brother/survivor
o raise my range, specially get a stronger mix and soprano (D4 to B5 range)
o subletting around in NYC determining where I would want to live, unless I can’t
because of the traveling gig, otherwise I do plan to “live” in NYC, I just want to
figure out where I’m happiest
o going to any and all auditions if the traveling allows me to do so
❖ Run a 35 min 10 k
❖ Actually pick up my guitar and make it a hobby because it is something I enjoy but I
always find a reason to be too busy and I want to make learning how to play a priority as
much as I can
❖ Continue building my Instagram slowly but surely, I don’t know what this will do for my
future as far as influencer work is concerned but I want to make a thriving social media
presence for myself
❖ Have my round off back hand spring stage ready
❖ Steaming every morning with a glass of water

YEAR 2
❖ Have an agent, if I didn’t get one last year I need one now
❖ Leased in NYC, no longer subletting
❖ Consider the possibility of loving one of the traveling gigs I hopefully got and would
maybe consider doing a second contract, which would push a lease/full time living in NY
a little longer
❖ book A Christmas Carol at CLO; this could be how I get my card if I haven’t gotten it yet
❖ find a voice teacher I really like
❖ consider the pros and cons of my equity card, if I’m living full time in NYC by now I
would like to have it, if I’m still subletting and moving around a lot then maybe not but
definitely try and have it by the end of year two
o My thinking is, by now I will have an idea if living in NYC without my card is
something I want to do or not and go from there
❖ Find a church that I love and join their worship team
❖ If I am living in NYC fully for year two, I want to get a casting agency internship as I
know that is something I will be successful at and getting to work under the greats, even
if its unpaid is something I am interested in
o If I did the internship life in year one than getting some kind of paid gig with the
same agency would be ideal, being a full time reader for auditions would be the
dream
❖ Hoping to have found a good counselor that I like by now, even if its online through
facetime or something like that, but if I’m going to be living full time in NYC, putting
my mental health as priority is very important to me
❖ Living in NYC scenario, I want to make meal prepping a continued habit for me, I will
have done it all throughout senior year of college and I know it really works for me;
especially if I’m as busy as I’m hoping to be, this will be the perfect solution
❖ I want to get really good at musescore and be able to start transcribing music for myself
❖ Hopefully my social media presence is doing well because getting involved in real
influencer work is something I would be super interested in at this point, an especially
incredible way to make extra money
❖ Continue my tumbling, even if that means in central park because I know its expensive
for tumbling space
❖ Steaming every morning with a glass of water
❖ Once I’m living full time in NYC, creating a YouTube channel of daily life vlogs and
how to tackle NYC as a performer is something I’ve always wanted to do
❖ Living in NYC, I want to be so involved in New works that someone wants to write
something specific FOR ME
YEAR 3
❖ The last two years I will have hoped to be dabbling in film and getting extra work and
featured parts on shows but I would love to have a recurring role on a Tv show by year
three, if it happens sooner than great
❖ I would love to have a theatre agent for sure but if possible to get a film agent I would
love to have one as well for reasons of truly wanting to be involved in the TV/Film
industry
❖ If I chose to do another traveling gig last year, this is definitely the year I want to settle
and start making an NYC name for myself, getting the people behind the table used to
swing my face and knowing who I am
❖ I know I want to do non-profit work with children involving theatre
❖ At this point I assume I’ll be living full time in NYC but over the summers I would love
to make it a goal of mine to get out of the city and do fun summer stocks that of course
pay well and boost my resume but are in nature filled/refreshing locations that I can
regroup before heading back to the city
❖ Still singing with my churches worship team
❖ I am happy working with an agency that I love and that loves me back
❖ Running different 10k’s all over, if this can be my way of travel, just go somewhere to
run and then head back to the city
❖ Have my way in a Broadway theatre, especially last year if I was full time in NYC
getting seen for auditions constantly, I want to make absolutely sure of the fact that, the
shows I want to be apart of, at least some person on that casting team knows who I am
and that I am pushing for the big time
❖ Steaming every morning with a glass of water
❖ Picking up the guitar and playing the piano is something I continue to make a habit of
❖ Did I do the youtube thing last year? Is it something that still interests me, if so, keep it
up court!
❖ New works, New works, New works, I want to create my own roles, I don’t see myself
fitting the Broadway gal mode, maybe Broadway will shift into something more feasible
for me but even if that is the case, how cool to be a part of originating something

YEAR 4
❖ My ultimate dream with television would to have a show in which I have a supporting or
leading role and I get to sing; I also am into the whole Disney channel, camp rock vibe,
so something along the lines of that would be incredible; this would be information my
film agent would know and I would also want my theatre agent in on this as it would be
something that I would hope takes up my time
❖ I’m sure there are youth Christian groups all over, if I could be involved in something in
addition to the church I’ve chosen, maybe they are one in the same, but consciously suing
my voice through church, this will be priority, can easily get caught up in the craziness of
NYC and I want to avoid that as much as possible
❖ Depending on which route takes off I am willing to make the major decisions based off
that, if theatre seems to be developing in my direction, meaning Broadway is for me, then
staying in NYC and booking the big wig seems viable, but if tv/film starts to pick up in
any way for me, I want to run to where the opportunities are at
❖ Steaming every morning with a glass of water
❖ I wonder if casting internships and/or positions were at all present last year and if they
still are to keep that interest alive and flourished as this is something I could see myself
doing for just as long as I perform and then be a main job when performing may no
longer be a focus
❖ Write my own skits
YEAR 5
❖ I’ll be 26 years old and happy and I WANT MY OWN CAT
❖ Run the New York City Marathon, 26.2 miles
❖ Have some kind of connection with SNL, I want either be involved in the process or an
actor myself; hopefully I continue with the intensives from year 1 and I choose to do
more work like that, especially if I love it
o I think I have all these ideas for skits and I like doing silly skits in daily life, I
want to put pen to paper and see what I could come up with
❖ Steaming every morning with a glass of water
❖ In a Broadway show, in any role or position
❖ So involved in the New Work process that I’m in positions for the festivals (New York
New Works, new work series)
❖ Still in a recurring role for a TV show, unless it was big last year, then I want another
season
