My Philosophy of Education

My Classroom Environment

I want my students to feel safe and comfortable when they come into my classroom. I want them to be able to
interact with myself and their classmates without feeling like they’re gonna be judged or made fun of for what
they say. I want to be able to joke around and have fun in my class, but I also want my students to get serious
when it comes time to get work done. I will try to create this environment by being warm, welcoming, and open
to my class, so they know that it’s ok to be open to each other because I do it already. I will also try to do a
circle time or something where the students can share something about themselves to their classmates
everyday.

My Ideal Classroom

I want my classroom to resemble the class environment. I want there to be tables of 4-5 desks so students can
collaborate with each other. I plan on putting photos of my friends and family all around the room. I also want to
have a station filled with paper, pencils, glue, scissors etc that my students can use whenever they need it. I
also like classrooms that have cute lights and decorations around the room so I’d probably do that too. Lastly, I
think i’d have a little section filled with bean bags or something as a reward for students to sit on if they earn it.

Student/Teacher Relationship

For me personally, I learned the best with a class and a teacher that I was comfortable with and that I knew I
could ask questions and not feel judge about looking stupid. Having a good relationship with a student is
critical to get the best learning out of them. I don’t want a student to worry about being lost or judged in my
class. They should feel like they can come to me for anything and know that i’m there to help them not just with
school but life in general. I will make sure I know each student personally by making an effort to ask them
questions about themselves everyday.

Motivating My Students

I plan on motivating my students by giving them incentives to work hard. For example, if I see a student
working hard I can let them sit on the bean bags or use my chair to sit in. Or even giving them a jolly rancher or
something, because quite honestly i loved going to classes that I had the opportunity to earn candy. I also plan
to change it up and not do the same thing everyday because I know that gets very boring. I think it’s a good
idea to try to use games and review games to help the students learn and to mix it up and make it fun.

My Primary Goal
(at least 4 sentences)

My main goal as a teacher is to positively impact these students lives, so that when the look back on all their
teachers, they’ll remember me and how they could be open and honest with me and have fun. I want my
students to remember me as a fun, kind, and open teacher who had their best interest at heart. I also want my
students to obviously grow as a person and a learner in my class. I want them to leave as a more educated
and well rounded person than they came in as.
