Weebly Formatting Practice - 3 pages

Use the features of Weebly to complete the following steps

1. Create a page on your Weebly site called "Practice"
and make this page a subpage of the 'Home' page.
● To create a subpage, create the page and
then drag it up under the ‘Home’ page. Next,
click and drag the page bar to the right.

2. Make sure you are on the 'Practice' page of your site by

clicking on it on the menu

3. Click on the picture area at the top of the page.

▪ Select 'Edit Background' and then 'Image' and 'Add Image'.
▪ Select 'Upload Image' (bottom left) and add an image of a dog to the header/banner
area.

4. Drag a text box onto the picture in the banner.

● Type "Dogs rule".
● Make the font red.

5. Under the banner image: Click on the white area that says 'Drag Elements Here'.
*** If you do not see 'Drag Elements Here' then you need to scroll down to the STRUCTURE
ICONS and drag over a ‘section’ icon and then click on it***

▪ Select 'Add layout'.

▪ Select 'Gallery' and choose one of the gallery options. Some are slideshows and
some are photo galleries. Click Save.
▪ Change one of the photos to a dog picture.

6. Click on the coloured background behind the images.

▪ Select 'Edit Background', then ‘Colour’ and then 'Change Colour'. Make the
background colour red. When you drag icons onto the page, a blue line will appear
showing you where the icon will drop. The blue line may appear horizontally across all or
part of the page OR it may appear on the left or the right. If you are inside a text box, a blue
box will appear instead of a line.
7. Under the image gallery section, drag a title icon onto page. Make sure the blue line
goes all the way across screen. Use the Title icon to do the following:
▪ Create a title that says 'Choosing a Dog'. Make the title:
▪ Maximum font size
▪ Bold and underlined
▪ Green
▪ Centered
8. Drag a text box under the 'Choosing a Dog' title. Copy and paste the following
paragraph into the box.
With an amazing 200+ breeds of dog in the world you might be wondering how to find the right dog for
you. They say that dogs resemble their owners but it's probably not a good idea to start working out
which breed of dog you look like when trying to select which breed to go for. Some breeds are very
good with children, others are bred for protection. Many breeds are great all round family dogs and
some breeds may be best suited for older owners. There is also a wide range of dog breeds that best
suit allergy sufferers and a variety of different sized dogs that will be best suited for different sized
homes, flats, and apartments. Information is from the following website:
https://www.omlet.co.uk/guide/dogs/choosing_the_right_dog_for_you

9. Hyperlink the website address in the paragraph above.
● Highlight the website address and then use the black text formatting bar that
pops up

10. Drag an image icon inside the text box and add an image of a dog.
▪ A blue box will appear when the image is inside the text box (rather than the
usual blue line).
▪ Drag the corner of the image until it is small enough that a few lines of the text
wrap around the bottom of the image.

11. Caption the image with the word Dog.

▪ Click on the image and scroll down to the Caption option.

12. Add a divider and spacer under the paragraph and image.

13. Add a new text box under the spacer and divider.

14. Copy the paragraph (from step 8) into the text box.
15. Drag a gallery icon to the left of the paragraph.
▪ Make sure the image is outside of the textbox. (You will see a blue line to the left
of the paragraph, not a blue box).
▪ Add 3 images of dogs to your gallery.
▪ Note that when the image is outside of the text box, the words do not wrap the
image. When you want the text to wrap around the image, you must put the
image inside the text box.

16. Add a divider under the paragraph/image.

17. Below the divider, drag a Section icon onto the page.
▪ Click on the white area of the section and select 'Edit Background'.
▪ Make the background blue.

18. Drag a textbox onto the blue section. Copy and paste the paragraph (from step 8) into
the box. Change the font to white.

19. Drag a Youtube icon onto the screen below the paragraph. Upload a video about dogs.
▪ Note: To upload your own video (rather than a Youtube video) you would use
the HD Video icon.
20. Drag a section icon below the Youtube video.
▪ Click on the white area of the section and select 'Edit Background', then select
'Gradient'.
▪ Set the angle to 300 and choose two colours for the background.
21. Drag a Slideshow icon onto your coloured section and add two images of a dog to the
slideshow.

22. Under the slideshow, insert a text box and add the following text:
▪ Please visit my Home page.
Drag a Button icon beside the text. Label the button Home Page and link it to your
Home page.
● Click on the button, select ‘Link’, then ‘Standard Page’, then Home page.

23. Insert these instructions as a SCRIBD document and put at the bottom of the page.
● On the google doc, click File, then Download, then PDF Document. Upload to the
Scribd document from your downloads folder

Once you have completed all steps, refer to the submission instructions in the ‘Weebly Set-up
and Practice’ assignment.
