DAILY DATE October 5, 2018-Friday DATE
LESSON SECTIONS Curie, Copernicus, Bell, SECTIONS
LOG Archimedes and Pasteur

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of:
The different regions of the electromagnetic spectrum.
B. Performance Standards

S10FE-IIa-b-47
Compare the relative wavelengths of different forms of electromagnetic
waves.
C. Learning Competencies/ Specifically:
Objectives LC code for each 1. Determine the different properties of the radio waves like
wavelength and frequency.
2. Simulate radio waves production, transmission and reception.
3. Recognize the relevance of radio waves during calamities.
II. CONTENT RADIO WAVES
III. LEARNING RESOURCES

IV. PROCEDURES
Post 7 strips of cartolina on the board with the following labels. (The label
should not be in order).
Gamma-Ray Visible light Radiowaves Microwaves

A. Reviewing previous lesson or x-ray infrared ultraviolet

presenting the new lesson
Ask the student to arrange the strips in order of increasing frequency?
Radio, Microwave, Infrared, Visible, UV, X-Ray, Gamma-ray.

Increasing Wavelength? Gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, Visible, Infrared,

Microwave, Radio.
One of the examples of electromagnetic waves is radio waves. Radio wave
has been discovered by Heinrich Hertz and if we are going to trace the
B. Establishing a purpose for the
history, it can be said that its discovery is very important because it has
lesson
been used into a wide array especially to transmit sound and picture
information over a wide coverage.
C. Presenting examples/instances To introduce Radio waves, do the game titled “NAME THAT STATION”
of the new lesson
The tag lines of the radio stations and students will guess the name of the
station: (A video/mp4 file can be shown for the taglines of the radio
stations)
1. DZMM (Radyo Patrol) (Una sa Balita, Una sa Public Service)
2. DZBB (Super Radyo)
3. WRR 101.9 For life
The teacher will do the demonstration of the “Sound Check” activity and
instruct students to process guide questions.
After that, use the ff. guide questions in processing the concepts of the
D. Discussing new concepts and day.
practicing new skills #1 1. What happens when you stroke the prongs with the wire?
2. How does changing the position affect the result?
3. What might be the cause when you sometimes hear static sound
in your radio? What can be done to resolve it?
The students will do the activity “Then there was Sound” After that, use
the ff. guide question in processing the concepts of the day.
E. Discussing new concepts and What common problems could arise during transmission and reception of
practicing new skills #2 radio waves? Explain the possible causes of those problems?
F. Developing mastery (Leads to Facilitate discussion during the teacher demonstration:
Assessment 3) Ask questions that will elicit answers to the ff. guide questions:
1. What happens when you stroke the prongs with the wire?
(You are creating static, random noise or the specks and cracking
sounds in a radio receiver when an electrical activity or
interference such as the battery generated fork’s prongs with a
wire, the stroking creates a disturbance in signal reception).
2. How does changing the position affect the results? (By changing
the position of the radio through moving away from the
electrically charge fork’s prongs or the fork away from the radio,
you reduce the amount of static sound produced & or detected by
the radio. Furthering the distances of the radio & fork away from
each other lessens or reduces the static interference or sound
signal received by the radio receiver).
3. What might be the cause when you sometimes hear static sound
in your radio? What can be done to resolve it? (Move or take away
from any atmospheric or electrical activity or interference).
4. What common problems could arise during transmission and
reception of radio waves? Explain the possible causes of those
problems. (Radio waves are electromagnetic waves and they tend
to travel in straight lines long distances from their sources.
However they can still be blocked by objects in their path,
especially if the objects are massive like building and other
skyscrapers. To avoid such problems, transmit and receive radio
signals without any interference.
During the survival kit presentation in First Quarter, one of the suggested items to
be included in a survival kit by Philippine Red Cross is a portable radio. Why do
you think it is important? Can you cite some of the importance of radio waves
especially during unplanned events like disasters/calamities?

G. Finding practical applications of (So that every household will be informed during calamities and other geologic
concepts and skills in daily living events).
Radio waves are electromagnetic waves of the highest frequency and
longest wavelength. They are produced by making electrons vibrate in an
H. Making generalizations and antenna and used to transmit sound and picture information over long
abstraction about the lesson distances.
For objective no. 1 use formative assessment:
Complete the ff. statements. Choose from the keywords below.

Radio waves have _________ wavelength and _____________ frequency.

Longer shorter highest lowest

For objective no. 2 use the following rubrics.

VI. REMARKS

VII. REFLECTION Reflect on your teaching and assess yourself as a teacher. Think about your
students' progress this day. What works? What else needs to be done to
help the students learn? Identify what help your instructional supervisors
can provide for you so when you meet them, you can ask them relevant
questions.
