5. Objectives
Main objectives

• To establish instrumentation, calibration and testing procedure of model Francis turbine at Turbine
Testing Laboratory.

Specific objectives

1) To select the sensor for the test rig

2) To review the discharge measurement in hydropower system.

3) To study and develop the calibration procedure of the pressure sensors

4) To develop the wiring diagram for the sensors connected in Turbine Testing Lab.

5) To develop program to be used for the data acquisition in LabVIEW

6) To study the testing procedure and develop procedure for hill chart generation.

7. Works Accomplished

1) Studied and selected different sensor for the test rig.

2) Developed the Instrumentation, calibration and testing procedure.

3) Developed Wiring procedure and diagram.

4) Studied different discharge measurement techniques relevant to hydropower.

5) Developed LabVIEW program for Data-acquisition, pressure calibration and speed measurement.

6) Error Analysis.

7) Developed the hill chart generation procedure at Turbine Testing Laboratory

9. Technical Problems Encountered & Remarks

Due to the COVID-19 situation, the pressure calibration is not feasible. Therefore, a general calibration procedure will be
developed based on the review instead of performing the actual calibration. If the situation gets somehow in normal
condition, the calibration can be done and a procedure based on the actual calibration can be performed.
