The Alagad ni Rizal, Free masons and the Knights of Rizal are in favor with the
passing of the bill about Rizal Law while Catholic Action of the Philippines, Congregation of the
Mission, Knights of Columbus and the Catholic teacher's guild were opposed to the passing of
the bill for some reasons like it will violate freedom of conscience and religion. According to
them, what happened in the past are different in todays situation.

I understand the reasons of the church about not passing the bill but for me, it is
important to fully understand the life and works of rizal. The rizal law is a way to awaken the
sense of patriotism and nationalism of every Filipino specially the youth. We can learn many
principles and truths about his life that can help us to cope up in different situations nowadays.
Without this, we will be unaware of what happenend in the past and we will also be unable to
make wise decisions in the future.

2. In what way you can show nationalism?

" Nationalism is a devotion of love for one’s country. A country’s identity is seen
through its culture, traditions, religions, beliefs, and even the unity or togetherness of the
people in it."

In this modern world, it is hard to show our love for our country. It is easy to say that
we love our country but action speaks louder than words. We can be easily get inflence by the
cultures and styles of different countries around the world and forget our own. It is important to
know our own cultures and traditions, appreciate the creativity of our fellow Filipinos by buying
local products, being a responsible citizen and showing love for our fellow Filipino by helping
them specially in times of need.

By being a student, the willingness to study and understand our history and the life
of our heroes also shows nationalism. By showing respect to our national flag and proudly
singing our national anthem can helps us to remember the essence of being a Filipino. By
obeying the laws and other rules and regulations in our country can make us a role model to
others. By preserving our own cultures like saying "po" and "opo" to the elders shows that we
are polite and have a great respect to the elders. It is also important to treat everyone with
kindness and respect. And those are the simple ways to show nationalism and I know that by
small and simple things, are great things brought to pass.
