Dear Altran Colleague,

Altran believes in the general welfare of all its employees, and, therefore, strives hard to make relevant
facilities and statutory benefits available to you. To that extent, we want to make our female employees
aware of the Maternity Benefits Act 1961 (the “1961 Act”), the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act 2017
(the “2017 Act), and of the benefits available under these Acts. We would like to highlight the following,
for your ready reference and awareness:

• Maternity Leave: Every woman is entitled to twenty-six (26) weeks of Maternity Leave
irrespective of the numbers of Childbirth. Maternity Leave can only be availed from eight (8)
weeks prior to the expected delivery date or in case of premature delivery, from the actual
delivery date (whichever is earlier). The maternity leave is awarded with full pay on completion
of at least 80 days in an establishment in the twelve (12) months prior to her expected date of
delivery.
• Additional Maternity Leave (Leave for Illness): Employees are also entitled to one (1) additional
month of leave with wages at the rate of maternity benefit in case of illness arising out of
pregnancy.
• Leave for Miscarriage or Medical Termination of Pregnancy: In case of miscarriage or medical
termination of pregnancy, a woman shall, on production of medical certificate from the treating
doctor, be entitled to leave with wages at the rate of maternity benefit for a period of six (6)
weeks immediately following the day of her miscarriage or medical termination of pregnancy.
(Please note that “miscarriage” does not include any miscarriage, the “causing” of which is
punishable under the Indian Penal Code.)
• Leave for Tubectomy Operations: In case of Tubectomy operations, a woman shall, on production
of medical certificate from the treating doctor, be entitled to leave with wages at the rate of
maternity benefit for a period of two (2) weeks immediately following the day of the operation.
• Adoption Leave: Paid adoption leave of twelve (12) weeks from the date when the child is handed
over upto the age of 18 years.
• Surrogacy Leave: Paid surrogacy leave of twelve (12) weeks from the date the child is handed
over. The leave can only be availed by the commissioning mother who uses her egg to create an
embryo to be implanted in another woman.
• Work from Home Option: Applicable after the maternity leave, on such terms as may be mutually
agreed to between Altran and the beneficiary.
• Medical Bonus: Employees are entitled to a maternity benefit (in the form of medical bonus) of
INR 3,500.
• Employee awareness: Employees can visit for the detailed features of the Altran Maternity
Benefits Policy (the “Policy”) on the intranet with the prescribed link:
