What´s the impact the internet has in our lives and especially during this

pandemic? Does the internet become a very important tool and part of our
lives or is it just an optional tool? Does everyone have access to the internet,
is it free, cheap or expensive to have it?

Stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic, with movie theaters closed, no restaurants, no
more outgoing time with friends or family, no face-to-face school and university classes, etc.;
people have been spending more of their lives online. We know that basically the internet is an
important and very necessary tool to carry out many activities, among them good and others
somewhat harmful. Internet is free and everyone have access to it, but what’s happening now that
we can’t go outside for some long time. Are we using correctly the internet?

During this pandemic, the internet has become an indispensable tool, especially for people who
carry out their work in the office or young people and children who carry out their classes online.
This point is important in our country since virtual classes have been seen as something very
favorable and complicated at the same time. This is because not all the population has a good
computer or mobile phone and even a good internet to take classes. Although this is a small
percentage of the population, our government chose to provide these services to those who need
it most, which was an action of great importance. But unfortunately in the case of universities the
situation is not so simple since here the level of education in certain degrees and certain courses
requires mandatory face-to-face classes which does not allow the internet to help in these cases.
Talking about another topic, many famous companies and business such as Walt Disney, Netflix,
among others, have made several launches through the internet to entertain their clients without
needing their physical presence. Likewise, zoos, gyms, clinics, sports, cooking, etc. of activities,
have used the internet as a good tool to provide their services and allow the population to have
these activities, among others, during quarantine. So far and among other things, the internet has
proven to be a high-need tool today, but just as it is a very favorable tool, it can become a harmful
and misleading tool. A psychologist and researcher Ana Estévez through an investigation ensures
that the risk of Internet abuse by Covid-19 grows among those who live alone or when an
authority that differentiates the good use and misuse of the Internet does not appear. Most young
people and children, not having the option to go out and spend more time at home, tend to
sweeten themselves with the games and activities that the internet offers us, which is not bad if
they are used at the right times and without exaggeration. Unfortunately, most of these young
people end up addicted to this section of the internet, omitting their main responsibilities and
hurting themselves by becoming dependent from them. By the way, we include here a large
percentage of young people who many times do not distinguish distraction from dependency on
the subject of social networks, since now many walk within social networks such as Instagram,
Facebook, WhatsApp, etc., without noticing excess time that happen in them, hurting themselves.
Finally, in conclusion, the internet during this pandemic has become indispensable for all of us. It is
an accessible tool for all the public that offers us many facilities and support for certain activities
that we need to carry out, but just as it can be an effective and useful tool it can also be misleading
and harmful for those who do not use it with control and in excess while carrying out vicious
activities. It is not bad to use the internet to be distracted or have fun for a while, the problem is
not having time control over them and ending up being dependent in a way that hurts us. In
conclusion internet is not bad, what is bad is the way we use it for, so let’s start using internet the
right way letting us make our activities and works better, distracting and having fun sometimes but
not allowing ourselves to be vicious or dependent in a bad way of it.
