Dear Ansonia Pre-K Families:

We have been made aware today that an individual tested positive for COVID-19 and was last inside our childcare
facility on September 21, 2020. We have isolated this to a single cohort (classroom). Under the advisement of our
local health department this cohort will return on Tuesday, October 6th, 2020.

Ansonia Public Schools is working closely with the Naugatuck Valley Health District to perform contact tracing. If your child was
determined to have been in close contact with the positive individual, you will be contacted by the school and/or health district
with instructions on quarantining your child for 14-days from the exposure to the known case. If any staff or student needs to
get tested, contact Griffin’s Occupational Medicine Center at (203) 944-3718 and tell them that you are calling from
Ansonia Public Schools. This will route you to the appropriate person at Griffin. The order for the test will be
generated by their providers and a phone number will be given for you to call and schedule your drive-thru test.
Griffin participates with all insurance companies, including Anthem and Husky. Anyone going for testing should
provide their insurance information so that the claim can be billed through your health insurance. As it stands now, all
indications from insurance companies are that this testing is being covered at no charge, so you should not
experience any out-of-pocket expenses.
Certainly not everyone will need to be tested, but we feel this program will help our staff and students who are in
need get their required testing in the timeliest manner possible. Please continue to adhere to the latest guidance
provided by the CDC and Public Health. And please continue to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms:
 Fever
 Cough
 Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
 Chills
 Repeated shaking with chills
 Muscle pain
 Headache
 Sore throat
 New loss of taste or smell

Please contact your healthcare provider for guidance, and in addition to your healthcare provider you may call the
Griffin Health COVID-19 Information Hotline at (203) 204-1053. Also available is the State of Connecticut Information
& Help Line by dialing 211, which includes current information on the Coronavirus and frequently asked questions. In
addition, you can continue to stay informed about coronavirus (COVID-19) at the State of Connecticut’s designated
web site: ct.gov/coronavirus

Sincerely,

Joseph DiBacco, Ed. D.
