1. A human being is a rational being.
 Rationality is the quality or state of being rational, that is, being based on or agreeable to
reason. Rationality implies the conformity of one's beliefs with one's reasons to believe, and of one's
actions with one's reasons for action. Human beings have a natural desire and capacity to know and
understand the truth, to pursue moral excellence, and to instantiate their ideals in the world through
action.
2. A human person is born free.
 All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and
conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. It's the state of being equal in
status, rights, or opportunities. It's about fairness, justice, and non-discrimination.
3. A human person is unique.
 Humans may be called "naked apes," but most of us wear clothing, a fact that makes us unique in the
animal kingdom, save for the clothing we make for other animals. The development of clothing has even
influenced the evolution of other species the body louse, unlike all other kinds, clings to clothing, not
hair
4. Every person is intrinsically a social being.
 Human beings are a social species that relies on cooperation to survive and thrive. ... Understanding
cooperation what motivates it, how it develops, how it happens and when it fails to happen is therefore
an important part of understanding all kinds of human behaviour. Social being- Every person is
intrinsically a social being. He cannot detach his being from others and all other creatures in the
universe. Human nature is characterized by his togetherness and relationship towards other creatures;
be it a thing, object or his fellowman.
5. Read and make comments of Genesis 1:26-27.
 Gen 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the
fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals
that scurry along the ground.” Gen 1:27 So God created human beings in his own image. That means
that we human being was made through His image and likeness of God. Human being is different from
Gods creation, which is why we are the most special creation made by God.
6. Conservatism
 Conservatism is a political and social philosophy promoting traditional social institutions in the context
of culture and civilization. The central tenets of conservatism include tradition, organic
society, hierarchy, authority, and property rights. Conservatives seek to preserve a range of institutions
such as religion, parliamentary government, and property rights, with the aim of emphasizing social
stability and continuity. The more traditional elements reactionaries oppose modernism and seek a
return to the way things were.
7. Liberalism
 Liberalism is a political and moral philosophy based on liberty, consent of the governed and equality
before the law. Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these
principles, but they generally support free markets, free trade, limited government, individual
rights (including civil rights and human rights), capitalism, democracy, secularism, gender equality, racial
equality, internationalism, freedom of speech, freedom of the press and freedom of religion. Yellow is
the political colour most commonly associated with liberalism.
8. Socialism
 Socialism is an economic and political system. It is an economic theory of social organization. It believes
that the means of making, moving, and trading wealth should be owned or controlled by the workers.
Socialists believe that everything in society is made by the cooperative efforts of the people and citizens.
9. Fascism
 Fascism is a form of far-right government that is ruled by an authoritarian leader. They work for a
totalitarian one-party state. This aim is to prepare the nation for armed conflict, and to respond to
economic difficulties.

1. Read : Matthew 5:13, 14. What two illustrations did Jesus use to describe His followers? Why do you think He
use those specific illustrations? See also John 1:9, John 12:46, Philippians 2: 15
 These images in Matthew 5:13, 14 immediately follow the Beatitudes and are often interpreted as
referring to Jesus' expectations of his disciples. The general theme of Matthew 5:13–14 is promises and
expectations, and these expectations follow the promises of the first part. He use those illustrations to
define the role of the church in society as that of salt and light. Salt preserves and seasons. When
the church compromises and becomes more like the world, it loses its flavour and, as Jesus said, "is good
for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men

2. After considering Jesus words in John 17: 15-18, how are we to understand the idea of separation from the
world and avoidance of the world? Are they the same thing? What did Jesus mean when He prayed that His
followers would be in the world but not of the world? How do we do that?
 Though they were going into trials and persecutions, yet Jesus did not pray that they might be removed
soon from them. It was better that they should endure them, and thus spread abroad the knowledge of
his name. It would be easy for God to remove his people at once to heaven, but it is better for them to
remain, and show the power of religion in supporting the soul in the midst of trial, and to spread his
gospel among men. This may mean either from the evil one that is, the devil, or from evil in general that
is, from apostasy, from sinking in temptation. Preserve them from that evil, or give them such grace that
they may endure all trials and be sustained amid them. They are the same things that we need to
separate and avoidance of sins.

3. Read Mathew 8:5- 10 and Mark 2:34. What hope filled words did Jesus speak to two unlikely people a Roman
centurion and a Jewish scribe?
 There are several discernible character traits in the centurion as described by Matthew and Luke.
First, he cares for and is concerned about his servant. Although the servant is a slave, he does not treat
him as one. In fact, he is dear to the centurion, and so his suffering moves the centurion to compassion.
Second, he is humble and sees himself as unworthy as a Gentile to approach the Jew Jesus, whether
personally or through the intercession of others. Third, he has obvious faith in Christ's ability to heal. He
knows not to expect a "magical" cure rubbing an idol or touching a charm. Nor does he ask for a sign
that a miracle would be performed. The centurion's humility is also unusual due to his ethnicity. Roman
soldiers were trained to think of themselves as superior to those whom they conquered and presided
over, especially in regard to the Jews, whom they scorned. However, the centurion humbles himself
significantly before the Jewish rabbi, Jesus, giving Him great honor by abasing himself to the point that
he says he is not worthy even of being in His presence.

4. Compare Isiah 42:3; Colossians 4:5,6; and Ephesians 4:15. What vital principles do these text teach us about
sharing our faith with others and about our relationship with them?
   In Isiah 42: 3 says ‘’A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench, he shall
bring forth judgment unto truth. In Colossians 4:5.6 says ‘’Walk in wisdom toward them that are
without, redeeming the time. And in Ephesians 4: 15 says ‘’But speaking the truth in love, may grow up
into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ. The vital principle did these text teach us about
sharing our faith with others and our relationship with them is to love one another, as the
commandment of God says.

5. Why is how we say something as important as, or even more important than, what we say? How do you react to
this statement: Truth is truth, and people need to make it or leave it’’? what’s wrong with this statement?
 Any saying should have some context, reason or meaning. Context is the set of circumstances or facts
pertaining to any event or situation, over which your curiosity or necessity arises to question or
communicate with somebody. What we say should be free from grammatical mistakes & should contain
appropriate words, free from spelling mistakes, phrases & sentence to make the listener understand
clearly, what you intend to say. Yes, it is true that truth is truth not matter what is that. We need to take
it because being truthful to yourself matter because you cannot live in line with your values if you are
pretending to yourself that you are something else. Truthfulness allows you to be honest about yourself
to yourself, and to others, and to live a life which reflects that. The wrong statement of that is if we
leave it or not accepting our mistakes.
