III- MazaCAM CAD/CAM & CAD files

• If the customer supplies a CAD file,
you can simply import it instead of
spending all the time re-entering
every dimension on the blueprint.
This saves considerable time (as
most of the time of CNC
programming is entering the
geometry) and error (as it is easy to
mis-read some blue-prints, aside
from just the regular type of
problem).

• Some customers (e.g. car manufacturers, etc.) are requiring machine shops
to take the information electronically -- i.e. no more paper blueprint. If you
cannot read their CAD file electronically, they will not do business with you.

• Able to take on jobs you would not even consider due to the complexity.

• Reading in a CAD file is as easy as opening a file in the regular way (not a
separate program that you have to run as with most other systems, then you
have to figure out where the file went, and re-enter the file name, and figure
out what is really going on, etc.)

• Splines are useless in the other systems. MazaCAM can convert splines to
arcs and lines. And guess what: Most CAD files these days from big
manufacturers contain splines!

IV- MazaCAM CAD/CAM & using a network

• If you have several NC programmers or operators on the shop floor, files can •
be shared via a server. This means the NC programmer can make an NC
program, then others can access that file (such as to download it to the CNC
machine) without disturbing the workflow.

• If you have engineers designing the parts in CAD, the NC programmer can
simply access that CAD file after it is created.

• You can do your own in-house
engraving of part-numbers or labeling:
save the cost, time, and trouble of
sending the work out to be done by an
engraving shop.

• We read in AutoCAD fonts, so you

have a wide variety of fonts available
on the market (from 3rd-party
vendors), and/or you can take fonts
that your customer wants (if it is an
AutoCAD font).

• MazaCAM outputs Lettering / Engraving to either Mazatrol or G-Code.
