New city, new experiences

1. Read the following text about Jenna's experiences in a new city.

Well, I've been here in Seattle exactly three months. It's hard to believe because so much has
happened. I was quite nervous before we left the UK, but it has been good since my first day. I
think I'm lucky: I became friends with a girl at school named Polly. We take many of the same
classes and have gotten along very well since we met.

It feels like I've known her for years! She also introduced me to other people, and that makes a big
difference.

Last week four of us decided to go to the Pike Place Market - there are many interesting shops and
stalls there. Then we took a tour on a duck - it's a bus and a boat!

It's cool here, but there's one thing I really miss. I haven't heard football news in a long time. Can
you do me a favor and tell me the ranking?

Okay, I have to stop and do my science homework. My books have been in my bag since Friday
and I haven't done anything for my test tomorrow. (Pearson, undated, p. 40)

new place you've moved to and new people you've met.

I've been living in the capital of Nariño for 3 years, to be honest at first, I was very afraid to leave
my family, but since I got here I have only had new experiences that have contributed to my
academic training.

With my stay in the pasture, I have met people who have made my stay more pleasant, I have also
known places in the city that have attracted my attention for their tanning and artistic wealth.

The most important thing about being in this city is that I have always had the love and support of
my family, especially my grandmother Aura, she was the one who took care of me and was aware
of my well-being in this city. Since she died a week ago I have felt very sad but always
remembering the good times I shared with her.
