teacher to achieve your goals.

Once again, welcome to the family!

2. ABOUT PRAGMATIC LEADERS
Pragmatic Leaders was founded with the objective of building a new generation of product
managers and to train them for the jobs of the future. We firmly believe that in between
traditional schooling and Massive Open Online Learning (MOOCs), holistic learning has
been lost somewhere.

We strongly believe that 3 elements- knowledge, application skills, and experience together
builds the foundation for pragmatism, essential to excel in any sphere in life. With this in
mind, our programs are geared towards providing our students a holistic educational
experience that combines the rigor of traditional and the ease and flexibility of online
schooling. To this end, we devoted ourselves to developing a futuristic, comprehensive and
scientifically backed pedagogy.

With our efforts, we hope to build a “modern workforce” equipped to imagine, build &
govern cutting-edge technology by bringing premium education to the doorstep of every
individual aspiring to up-skill and out-do competition.

This new age, modern workforce could be built through active support provided on our
platform by collaborative & global community of PMs who benefit by connecting &
mentoring one another to solve all the product related queries.
3. OUR PEDAGOGY
Before starting up in 2018, for 6 months, we interviewed 100+ product managers who
were at different stages of their career to identify what separates good from great. We
interacted with 3000 plus students via webinars and offline sessions on product
management which helped us nail down the issues and friction that a learner faces.

In our numerous discussions with the industry, the huge gap between employable and
trained emerged strongly. Having taken all the learning and observations, questioning
every assumption along the way, this course was built from scratch based on a futuristic
and well researched pedagogical method to learn Product Management.

Before you even move onto course overview, take a moment to understand how learning
works. Learning is a process of acquiring competencies and it goes through 4 stages. It is
important to be aware of which stage you are in.
i. 4 Stages of learning

Learning goes through 4 stages

Table 1

Stage 1 - Stage of Unconscious Incompetence

Loosely translates to, “learner is not aware of what s/he doesn't know.'' You may go about
believing that you are competent and know things well, but that competency doesn’t reflect
in the output. Sometimes you blame it on others and sometimes on the situations but you
are just not able to get things going.

Stage 2 - Stage of Conscious Incompetence

Loosely translates to “learner is aware of what s/he doesn't know. '' So, you did some
introspection or a trusted friend gave a piece of his/her mind and you realize your
shortcomings and the gaps that you need to fill. Now you are consciously working towards
removing your incompetencies.
Stage 3 - Stage of Conscious Competence

Loosely translates to “learner is aware of what s/he knows and is somewhat confident of
application”. You have worked towards fixing your gaps and have learnt and practised the
subject matter. So much so that you are aware of your competency but you have to stay
mentally alert to perform the tasks. This is like the early stages of learning maths, where
you have to remember formulas consciously.

Stage 4 - Stage of Unconscious Competence

Loosely translates to “learner is fully aware of what s/he knows, can apply and has developed
a muscle memory about the subject matter.” i.e. You know you are great and you are in the
zone! You have applied yourself, you have learnt and practiced enough that now it is no
more a conscious effort to recall the formulas or methodologies. They come naturally to
you. For instance, iIn the later stages of learning maths, where the formulas just come
naturally to you, you just have to figure out the logic to solve the problem at hand.

Now bucket yourself in one of these stages. I strongly believe that anyone from stage 1 to
stage 3 is going to benefit from the course tremendously.

ii. How to transition between stages?

(Refer to table 1)
1. To move from stage 1 of not knowing what you don't know to stage 2, you need
knowledge of your unawareness
2. Once you realize the gaps in your learning, you are on stage 2
3. To move from stage 2 to stage 3, you will have to acquire knowledge actively, then
apply the concepts on practice problems
4. Finally after gaining some confidence, you will start applying all knowledge and
application skills in your day to day life, getting better and better in the specific
domain/ topic
After due course of time, you would have internalized the learning and you would have
transitioned to stage 4 only to restart your learning in some other domain/topic.
Essentially, in every domain/topic you are building your competencies while transitioning
between stages. To acquire a competency you need to acquire (refer to table 2):

1. Knowledge about the subject matter +

2. Application skills to apply that knowledge into practice +
3. Experience of using the application skills in day to day life

Table 2
4. ABOUT THE BOOTCAMP COURSE
At Pragmatic Leaders, Product Management courses are designed especially to cater to industry
needs.

i. Course Overview

The core essence on which our PM Bootcamp course rests is to develop a mindset among
the learners to be able to solve problems that are vague or undefined with little or no info
at hand, limited data, limited stakeholder access but still produce high results. Just like
the real world.

➔ This is achieved by helping learners master the application skills by solving 15

global case studies in teams, guided by a mentor

➔ You solve cases, present to a senior mentor in a live online class every week,
get feedback and iterate

➔ To solve these case studies you lean on our huge repository of in-house material
references, quizzes

➔ Live presentation session is followed by a 360 degree evaluation of the case you
presented - qualitative feedback from mentor, peer grading and self-evaluation

➔ Last 2 weeks of mentor support for job preparation, mock interviews & resume
review with feedback, extensive work on your LinkedIn profile

Chetan Patel, Cohort 5, Senior Product Analyst at

CereCore (A division of HCA Healthcare), Greater
Nashville Area, TN

“T his course is filled with so many gems backed by logic and reasons to turn an ordinary
product person into an extraordinary pragmatic product leader. Course content is brilliant,

weekly interactive case studies and discussions are priceless.”

Atin Garg, Cohort 5, interning at Hotstar

“I’ve felt very lucky to be part of this course because it’s been providing exactly what it’s

designed for ~ enabling experienced professionals to transition to & succeed as a great

product manager. While initially sceptical of such online courses, you guys have put your
heart & soul to cover all aspects of an end to end smooth transition. And thanks to the
original content with practical case studies & team-work & support, it’s like I’m getting
something as compared to a Harvard program in the PM space (and I mean that!) Thanks

for everything.”

Utkarsh Singh, (Alumni Cohort-2) Product Manager ,

MoveInSync

“I tried a few online courses but there was no hands-on experiences. A friend of mine finally
suggested Pragmatic Leaders where I got introduced to an amazing cohort and more than
awesome mentors. After rigorous training for 4 months, I could finally crack a product
management interview@ MoveInSync where I’m currently working on electric vehicles.

The Course not only instilled the much-needed product sense (which is a must in today’s
digital world), but it also helped me understand user psychology and different business
models around a product. Highly recommend the course for any business guy out there and

would love to see Pragmatic Leaders skyrocketing careers of millions more.”

Sreejith K ( Alumni Cohort-1), Product Manager,Exotel

“Most often, people like me accidentally land into Product Management and hence it is also
called an accidental profession. If you have landed up as Product Manager or looking
forward to be one, it's a challenging & continuous learning role. There are only two ways to
learn Product Management, by building products & getting groomed by veterans for
challenges, Pragmatic Leaders course by Talvinder Singh wraps both in it! Strongly suggest

this course for all those of you involved in crafting technology products.”
