According to the Oxford English Dictionary, news item text is text that
informs readers about the events of the day (News item text is a type
of text that provides information about daily events or events. News
item is a type of text in English that is used if you want to learn
become a reliable journalis.
 UNIVERSAL DEFINITION

News item text is a text that informs readers about daily events /
events that are newsworthy or important. Newsworthy which means
newsworthy, so not all incidents / events can be reported. Only
important events or events that deserve to be reported. If the
incident / incident is not important then it is not worthy to be
reported and known to many people.
 THE PURPOSE

The purpose of news items text is to inform readers about daily news items that

The main incident deserves to be news. In the first paragraph there

 Elaboration

After knowing a glimpse of the incident that was raised, the reader
will be brought into several situations that usually provide supporting
ideas for the main event. This supporting idea is packaged in a
paragraph after the newsworthy event which is commonly known as
elaboration. Elaboration itself can also be the causes of the main
events. This is where an explanation of the main events in the
language includes time, actor, occurrence, etc.

In this last stage, a learner will see for himself the characteristics of
news item text. Because this type of text is news text so that a valid
news source is something absolute so it is necessary to have a source
listed either in the form of experts, experts' notes or research
conducted by experts.
 Language characteristics

In every English text that is News Item Text, there are language characteristics such
as the following:
– Brief information contained in the headline
– Focus on events
– Using verb actions
– Using process material
 Language Feature

Language Feature or what is known as a structure or arrangement related to grammar

or a grammar. In the preparation of news item text, there are several linguistic
elements that we must understand to make it easier for us to make and also make it
easier for listeners or readers to understand the information we want to convey,
including:
– there are headlines that are usually contained in a newspaper, bulletin, magazine
and others, where this headline only contains brief information but has been used
as a summary.

Two state-owned lenders — Bank Mandiri and Bank BNI — will build temporary houses for 400
families displaced by the recent strong earthquake that hit Sigi District, Central Sulawesi ProvincE.
Second Assistant Secretary of Sigi District Government Iskandar Nontji informed that the
temporary houses for 100 families will be constructed by Bank Mandiri in the South Sibayala area
of Dolo Sub-district. Meanwhile, Bank BNI will erect the temporary shelters for 300 families in
Jonoge Village of Sigi Biromaru Sub-district that severely suffered from soil liquefaction during the
7.4-magnitude earthquake that rocked the area on Sept 28, he noteD.
The temporary houses will be constructed on pieces of land, owned by the sub-district
government, village, and community members, he stated, adding that the Sigi district government
will facilitate all related parties to sign a letter of agreement.

The Surabaya Police have arrested a man, identified only as MN, for allegedly
buying an infant via Instagram.
MN was arrested at his house on Jl. Karah in Jambangan district in Surabaya, East
Java, on Sunday. He was found to have paid some Rp 3.8 million (US$250) for a
baby boy when he was only three days olD.
Surabaya police chief Sr. Comr. Rudi Setiawan said recently that the transaction was
conducted in Semarang, Central Java, on Sept. 23. The baby’s parents live in
Tangerang in Banten.
