GRADE 11

TITLE: CELL PARTS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS (General Biology)

SCHOOL: Jose Panganiban National High School
DATE: September 10, 2020 1:15 PM-
PERSONS INVOLVED:
Mark Paul E. Rosel - Implementer
Judeza Puse - Process Observer

GRADE/SECTION: Grade 11/STEM 1(INGENOUS)

OBSERVATION
The lesson was conducted on September 10,2020, it started at 1:15 pm.
Preliminary activities like prayer, icebreaker and online classroom rules including the
20:20:20 rules were discussed before the lesson proper in order to get the students
acquainted on the rules during the online class. It took 8 minutes to finish the
preliminary activities.

The following parts of the lesson were observed:

ELICIT: The teacher gave an activity entitled “4 PICS 1 WORD” as a review of their
prior knowledge about cell

ENGAGE: A short video clip was presented to the class as an introduction to the
lesson. Some students were called to answer questions about the video clip. The lesson
is also equipped with information to develop the student’s Numeracy skills.

EXPLORE: (Activity:CellPedia) The students were required to visit a given link where
they could access a game online that is developed for educational purposes, it help
students with the definitions and diagrams of the components of a cell.

EXPLAIN: The teacher posted an illustration of plant and animal cell. The students
were instructed to make a Ven Diagram that showed the comparison between plant and
animal cells. (During this stage of lesson, an Earthquake drill was conducted)

1
ELABORATE: A slide-deck presentation was used to further discuss the topic through
an analogy, questions pertaining to valuing has been asked. Integration to the subject
that is Physics related was also discussed as it helps on explaining about the topic on
how the cell generates its energy.

EVALUATION: Using the Google Form application, the students answered the 10-item
quiz. An online link was given to them through the chat box.

EXTEND: The students conveyed their ideas artistically about the cell structures.
Outputs were submitted through the group chat of the Facebook messenger.

Before the end of the lesson the teacher gives an assignment to be send via google
classroom and end the lesson with a closing prayer. ____ pm

The lesson ended at ___ PM. The implementation of the lesson was followed by
sharing of experiences about the online learning setup. The lesson was challenging
according to the implementer because of some technical problems such as the
familiarity with the online platform and slow internet connectivity. There is also a time
constraint because it takes time for the students to accomplish each activity. Generally,
the students were cooperative but they sometimes complain about inconsistency and
delay when it comes to their internet signals specially when sending outputs and
watching video presentations. The online learning has been given mixed reviews by the
implementer as well as the students, but the implementer is very positive that dry runs
and consistent use of these kind of learning modalities will be improved more sooner
than later.
