books sold Now celebrating thirty
worldwide! years in publication,
Lucy Cousins’s Maisy is
one of the most iconic and
endearing children’s book characters.
The books about the cheerful mouse
and her friends have introduced
generations of children to all sorts
of fun and colorful adventures, from
days on the farm to trips to the
moon.

Parents, educators, and librarians

find the Maisy books to be a bright
and playful way to establish a
solid educational foundation. Some
Maisy books feature early learning
concepts, such as colors, numbers,
sorting, and matching. Others
contain story lines that are a
safe guide to everyday universal
experiences, including making friends,
riding a bike, playing in the garden,
going shopping, getting a new pet,
and reading books.

Little ones love how the cheerful

characters—Maisy the mouse, Eddie
the elephant, Cyril the squirrel,
Tallulah the chick, Charley the
alligator, and Maisy’s toy Panda—
guide them through life’s funny,
daunting, and wonder-filled moments
with gentle messages of empathy
and kindness.

About the Creator

“I draw by heart,” says creator Lucy Cousins. “I think of what children would like
by going back to my own childlike instincts.” She is one of today’s most acclaimed
children’s book creators, and her unique titles fascinate babies, toddlers, and
preschoolers with their simplicity, bold outlines, and bright colors. After more
than three decades as an author-illustrator, Lucy Cousins continues to create new
characters and try unique book formats. She lives in Hampshire, England.

Ca n dle w ic k P r e s s
Inspired by a game she played with her own
grandchild, Lucy Cousins brings her crayon-
bright colors to a game that will have little
monsters everywhere running for a listen.
Little Gabriel loves to play monsters. And his family is happy to oblige,
from Josie the hungry beast (munch, crunch, scrunch!) to Uncle Rufus with
horns and a tail (oink oink moo!), and even Nonna the jelly monster (I’ll
gobble you up!). But what happens when Mom-the-monster comes to eat
Gabriel up when it’s time for bed? Lucy Cousins offers
an entertaining and heartwarming
celebration of family as she
follows an imaginative child
through a day of escalating
giggles to a cozy moment
before sleep.
