I feel that I have been very proactive in building a positive relationship with my mentor.
Originally we created a schedule for each day, but days never went as planned and there were
several interruptions. So instead, she lets me be a part of whatever is happening at the school.
She allows me to be her sidekick and I get exposed to different situations throughout the day.
Even though we are not coworkers, she treats me like one. I thank God for her spirit. She is very
The first week of my internship, I was part of a special education meeting over Zoom.
The meeting involved the sixth grade team, the special education teacher and my mentor. This
meeting took place because a parent noticed her son was struggling with online learning. Since
the parents spoke Spanish, I was there to translate for the principal and teachers. The special
education meeting connects with ELCC standard five. I also had the opportunity to assist the
disciplinary administrator on how to create a Zoom meeting as well as how to navigate through
the different options on Zoom. This process connects with the ELCC standard three. My mentor
also allowed me to participate in a meeting with all the principals on campus to discuss
comments and grades left on the progress reports. The administrator meeting is aligned to ELCC
standard four.
The second week I will be focusing on creating and building relationships with the staff.
The teachers are still settling into a new building and some need help setting up their classroom.
I will be assisting them with whatever they need. I will also be observing online classrooms via
