Read the story of David.
Goliath was the strongest and biggest fighter of the
Philistines. One day, he challenged the Israelites and said,
“bring me your best fighter that we may have a battle. If you
win, we, the Philistines, will leave.” The king of the
Israelites, King Saul, was worried. None of his soldiers
wanted to fight Goliath. David, a young shepherd boy, then
said, “Send me to fight Goliath.” King Saul did not like the
idea. David was small and Goliath was big. He offered
David a sword and shield but David refused.
David went to the battlefield. When Goliath saw
David, he laughed. David said that he brought God with him.
After that, David fit a pebble into his sling. He struck
Goliath in the forehead. Goliath fell and died.
