measurements, dual-channel
with simultaneous winding
magnetization (SWM)
Simultaneous winding magnetization, SWM, is a
powerful way of shortening the measurement (stabili-
zation) time when measuring large transformers with
LV delta configurations. With this method the satura-
tion of the core is created by the flux in both HV and
LV windings as the test current is connected to two or
more windings in series.
The continuous current path is created by moving the
16A return (black) current lead to the appropriate LV
current return terminal and also make a jumper/short
from the TSX 300 (black) current return terminal to the
appropriate LV terminal.
In this example we use an YNd5 configuration and

5.5 Turns ratio measurements

Switch sequences for IEC and ANSI transformer are show on subsequent pages.

Important
For YN winding the maximum applied voltage is 125 Vrms.

Note For some unusual configurations it is necessary to put a short between two colored (generator) terminals.
Terminals are named in brackets e.g. (H3H0).
It is sometimes necessary to put the ch 2 reverse switch in the 180° position. These positions are named
with “R”.
