TUBIGUARD® 30-F

Character Auxiliary combination based on fluorocarbons for producing water-

repellent and oil-repellent effects

Chemical Structure Fluorocarbon dispersion

Appearance Whitish dispersion with low viscosity

Ionic Character Non-ionic

pH-Value 4.0 – 5.0

Specific Weight
at 20 °C 1.0

Stabilities TUBIGUARD® 30-F is highly sensitive to frost; temperatures around the

freezing point cause irreversible changes.

Storage TUBIGUARD® 30-F is to be stored in closed original containers,

protected from frost, however not above 40 °C. If stored properly, the
product will hold for at least 12 months.

The above given values are product describing data. Please consult the ‘delivery specification’ for binding product
specifications. Further data about product properties, toxicological, ecological data as well as data relevant to safety can be
found in the safety data sheet.

Properties

TUBIGUARD® 30-F serves as water repellency, oil repellency and soil repellency on synthetic and natural fibres
as well as their blends. The achieved effects are fast to washing and dry cleaning.

TUBIGUARD® 30-F hardly influences the handle.

TUBIGUARD® 30-F is suited as additive to aqueous synthetic dispersions.

On basic material with a flameproof finish the flame protection is only minimally influenced by the finish with
TUBIGUARD® 30-F.

Under acid conditions TUBIGUARD® 30-F is compatible with most common cationic, non-ionic and anionic textile
auxiliaries. In any case, preliminary trials for checking the liquor stability or the flame protection are absolutely
necessary.

TUBIGUARD® 30-F is PFOA-free*.

Application Technique

Application Fields

The product can be applied in padding, foaming and spraying processes.

Application

The fabric to be finished shall be largely free from surface-active substances. Residues from previous working
processes such as finishes, dyeing auxiliaries as well as cleaning agents must be removed through an intense
rinsing process or post-scouring with anionic products such as e.g. SUBITOL ASN or SUBITOL AS 6.

The product should not be allowed to enter drains, water courses or the soil.
Waste, including liquor and rinsing baths, as well as containers must be disposed of in a secure manner (see
also SDS).**

Application Amount

The necessary application amount depends on the fabric composition as well as the desired effect and is to be
determined in preliminary trials. The following application quantities only serve as a general guideline:

Padding process
20.0 - 80.0 g/l TUBIGUARD® 30-F
0.5 - 1.0 g/l KOLLASOL CDO
1.0 g/l acetic acid 60 %

For increasing the wash fastness properties

5.0 - 10.0 g/l TUBICOAT FIX FC2 or TUBICOAT FIX H26

or TUBICOAT FIX H26A
can be added.

Foaming process
x g/l soft water
1.0 - 3.0 g/l TUBICOAT HEC
0.5 g/l ammonia solution 25 % for swelling
3.0 g/l acetic acid 60 %
40.0 - 200.0 g/l TUBIGUARD® 30-F
3.0 - 5.0 g/l TUBICOAT AOS

100.0 - 150.0 g/l foam weight

For increasing the wash fastness properties

10.0 - 30.0 g/l TUBICOAT FIX FC2 or TUBICOAT FIX H26

or TUBICOAT FIX H26A
can be added.

Spraying Process

60.0 - 150.0 g/l TUBIGUARD® 30-F

This spray treatment must be carried out in closed aggregates!

When spraying liquids aerosols may develop. Therefore, the spraying device ought to be placed in a separate
encasing to protect the environment from possible aerosols. An optimum suction or room ventilation are also of
utmost importance.

Drying / Fixation

Drying and fixation can be done in one working step provided the drying unit is long enough.

For achieving a good permanency of TUBIGUARD® 30-F to washing and dry cleaning the dry fabric must be
exposed to a minimum temperature of 150 °C for at least 1 ½ min. Higher temperatures decrease the fixation
time.
