Evidence: The time is now

This evidence is divided into two parts: A composition and an audio file. Read
the instructions below and make sure you complete both tasks.

A. Answer the questions below. Use the examples as models of the grammar
and vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why didn’t you study English before? (List at least 5 reasons in a

composition.)

Example:

One of the reasons why I didn’t study English before it is because I

thought it was too difficult. I didn’t understand my English teacher at
school and that was frustrating.
 1. One of the reasons why I didn’t study English before it is because
at a university I was studing a very difficult career, I had a lot of
subjects every semester which it's didn’t leave me time to study
English.

2. Other reason why I didn’t study English before it is because I

always had problems with my listening skills because I didn’t
understand the lyrics of the songs, I have never practice so much
because I prefer music in Spanish music to music in English.

3. Another is that English courses are very expensive, when I was

in university I didn't have enough money to pay for it or the
possibility of moving to another country to learn English abroad.

4. I didn't like the idea of learning a new language very much, I feel
that it is not one of my skills in fact it takes me a lot of work to
learn a new language because I get very confused.

5. The last one is that I wasn’t disciplined learning english, in some

ocassions I started to learn and later when I got borred I threw it.

2. How different would things be if you had learned English before? (Name
and explain at least 5 things.)

Example:

If I had learned English some years ago I would have accepted a job a
multinational company offered me five years ago. One of the requirements
was to speak English and my level back then was very low.
 1. If I had learned English some years ago, I would have won a
scholarship to study a master's degree.

2. If I had had a good pronunciation singing english music, I would

have won the X factor in Simon Cowell team´s

3. If I had been an English-speaking expert, I would have been a

youtuber that help latin americans to improve their English level.

4. I would have acted in Saturday night live If I had known English.

5. I would have read shakespeare's plays in their original language

if I had had a better level of English.

B. Record an audio file of yourself answering the following questions. Use the
examples as models of the grammar and vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why are you studying English? (List and explain at least 4 reasons.)

 I’m studing english because one of my dreams is to travel around

the world and meet anothers cultures, for doing that I need to learn
a universal language witch I could communicate with everyone.

 In our country is an advantage for the companies a worker who

knows english because teh country is creating new commercial
relations with foreign countries. A person who speak fluently
English would have a better job.

 I want to created my own Company in the future and I think it is a

need to improve my English level to export merchandise abroad.

 Sometime in my free time I watch movies, some of the lastest

movies are not in spanish so I have to watch it with subtitles, but I
really hate it, I want to improve my English skill to wacth movies in
English without using subtitles and understand at the same time.
 Example:

I’m studying English because I finally decided that if I want to improve my

professional profile becoming bilingual is essential.

2. In what ways are you going to benefit from this learning?

If I become an expert in the English language, I will be able to get many

opportunities to grow in all areas of my life, to achieve better professional
development, better interpersonal relationships, learn about new cultures
and the possibility of a better quality of life with a good job.

Example:

Being competent in English is going to increase the opportunities of landing a

more satisfying and better-paid job. We live in an international open market and
English is the most important language.
