Please describe why you want to be a part of the Academic Affairs Committee.

(Your
motivations, expectations, anticipated learnings, etc.) (200 words)
I want to be in the academic affairs committee as I could be of help to my batch mates, in
the most important thing of two years in the institute – the academics. I would like to take
up this responsibility and perform to my abilities so that it would benefit every individual in
my batch. I expect the role of a person in Academic Affairs Committee will be really
demanding. But I will be able to handle the situation and perform well in academics in well
since I have done this before while doing my diploma as well. I believe that I will be able to
learn how to manage a team or group of individuals by providing them with necessary
things to carry out their work. This would also help me in the organisation that I will be
joining in the future to manage a team of individuals by planning and facilitating necessary
things to keep the team performing at high potential.

What would you bring to the table as a part of the Academic Affairs Committee? (Your
qualities, skills, abilities, prior experience, etc.) (200 words)
I have been a consistent performer from my school days to undergrad. After class X, I did my
diploma and later did my Bachelors in technology through a part time course while working
with an organisation. Even then I managed to score a decent CGPA in the undergrads. The
key skill necessary for this role is to act as a single point of contact between the students
and the management in addressing any issues. This would require more time to be invested
in the committee activities. I believe that I have got the hard work and managing skills
necessary to multi task between the committee activities and my own academics. The
situation would be similar to the time when I did my bachelors. I managed my academics
along with my work.

Please describe your greatest strength and one trait where there is scope for
improvement. (200 Words)
Ability to multitask
I was helped by the ability to multitask when I did my bachelor’s through a part time course.
With work timings not so flexible, I had to plan my day around the 8 to 5 job and 6 to 9
college. The commute to workplace starts as early as 7 in the morning. Each day I had to
plan and prioritise things to manage work and studies. After three and a half years of hectic
schedule, I graduated with a decent CGPA and managed to perform in job as well.

Not trusting enough for delegation of jobs

I always had this fear of things going wrong whenever I delegate some work to my
subordinates. This would end up with me verifying their work for hours, eventually making
things harder in terms of meeting deadlines. I’ve been mentioned about this in two
successive yearly reviews as an improvement point. I understood how my seniors go about
this and made an action plan by deciding to keep a point of check for each job instead of
checking the entire work.
