The Core Material: Procedure Text on Tips Form
Concept:
Procedure text is a text that tells the readers how to do something. The information is presented in a
logical sequence of events, which is broken up into small sequenced steps. Sometimes, Procedure text
can be in the form of recipes, manuals, and tips. The following information contains generic structure
and language features of Procedure text in the form of tips.
Social Function :
to show how something is done through sequence of steps which enable the reader to
achieve the goal
to tell the reader how to do something through a sequence of actions or steps
Generic Structure :
Goal (or title) is title of the text./ states what is to be done
Steps (the actions that)/ state a series of steps to do the goal
Language Features:
Using imperative sentence
This sentence is used to convey a command or a prohibition. Most of the time, the
subject in this sentence remains hidden

1. Remove all frozen foods and ice cube trays. If you have a second refrigerator, use it to
temporary store these items. If not, put the food in a cardboard box and cover it with newspaper.
Dump the ice cubes.
