Install Drivers:

- Choose from Windows (XP, Vista, 7) 32bit or Windows (XP,


Vista, 7) 64bit. If you are using a different operating system
go to http://www.ids-imaging.com/drivers.php?cat=2 to select
different drivers.
- Install program.
- Suggest full install.
- Suggest Desktop Quick Launch icon.
- Once the program is installed, connect the USB cable
between the camera and the PC. Windows will then
recognize the camera.

Activate/Open the Camera:


- Under Programs, select:
o IDS folder.
o uEye folder.
o uEye Cockpit.
- From popup menu, select Live Video

o Later you can define specific profiles based on the


User.
- To activate the camera, select the GREEN Play button, or
Green Triangle: the first button/icon, upper left.

Select to Start

- The program will then open the camera and complete a test
to make sure it is operating properly.

Using the Camera:


- Mounting:
o First: make sure the SceneScope Advance RUVIS is
attached to a tripod, copy stand or some other
stationary device.
o Second: make sure the three (3) screws on the outside
of the camera are backed out far enough so the camera
will slip over the eyepiece.
o Third: Put the camera over the eyepiece of the
SceneScope Advance and tighten the screws. Only
tighten by hand until you get resistance.
The cameras resolution can be changed based on the users
needs. For scanning purposes, a low resolution (ie: 640 x 480)
will allow for higher or faster frame rates. This will give a
smooth image when scanning evidence. When an image is
located which needs to be photographed, change the
resolution of the camera to a higher resolution (5M: 2560 x
1920).
NOTE: you can scan at any resolution, however the
lower the resolution, the faster and smoother the image.

- Changing Resolution:
o Clicking on WRENCH button/icon:

o Then Select: SIZE Tab from the Properties Menu


 For SCANNING: Select lower resolution
 For PHOTOGRAPHING: Select higher resolution

- Scanning Evidence
o Select proper resolution for Scanning
o Make sure the “Start Live Video” button/icon is
activated. (This is selected when there is a black
square around the film strip icon)

o You should now see an image


 If you do not see any image:
• Make sure the camera is connected
• Make sure the SceneScope has the filter
slide in place, is ON, and the lens cap is off –
in that order.
• Make sure the aperture/iris is open on the
Camera.
- Photographing Evidence
o Select proper resolution for Photography
o Click on the “Snap Shot” button/icon
o The live video display will stop and allow you to save
the image on the screen. To start scanning again, you
must Click on “Start Live Video”

o While the Live Video is running, you can Click on the
“Save Image” button/icon to freeze the image and
immediately save the image. Once saved, the live
video will begin again.
- Saving the Image: There are two (2) ways to save an image
o Click on:
 FILE

o While the Live Video is running, you can click on the
“Save Image” button/icon to freeze the image and
immediately save the image. Once saved, the live
video will begin again.
- Adjusting Image Viewing Size: Depending on the scanning
resolution, your image size will either increase or decrease
drastically. To adjust the image size, do the following.
o Click on the Magnifier button/icon on the left side of the
frame.
o There are five (5) choices:
 Scale Display to Window Size
 1:1 (Normal Size)
 1:2 (Half Size)
 1:4 (Quarter Size)
 2:1 (Double Size)
 Full Screen Window

Viewing Size
Camera Properties:
- Gain
o This is a form of brightness.
o You can adjust the entire image or color channels.

Wrench Icon:

o Go to “Camera Properties” by clicking on the Wrench.


o Select IMAGE Tab in menu.
o Gain:
 Uncheck Auto Gain to adjust the level for the
entire image.
 Check Gain Boost for double the intensity
o Color Channel Gain:
 Adjust sliders left or right for each color, or
 Adjust the number in the box to the right of the
slider.
- Gamma is similar to Contrast:
o Check Gamma on and adjust slider to change image
Other Information:
- The entire uEye Camera Manual can be opened by going to
HELP and selecting the uEye manual from the drop down
menu.
