GOAL
-At the end of the speaking session, ss will have successfully discussed about the importance of music in daily life.
OBJECTIVES
-To determine the psychic and emotional effects of music on body, mind, and soul
-To consider the advantages and disadvantages of music in the personal and social spheres.
-To relate personal experiences with music.

1. LEAD-IN
-T is to introduce the topic by asking the following questions (15-20 mins.):
 Do you like music? Why/why not? What kind of music do you like?
 What is your definition of music?
 Why do people listen to music?
 In what ways does music affect people’s life?
2. LESSON CORE
-SS are to watch a video discussing the influence of music on the brain. They are to take notes on important aspects. Finally,
T introduces the following questions in order for ss to get involved in the conversation (20-30 mins.):
 What is the main idea of the text? Why?
 What are the chemical and physical reactions involved in the process of listening to music?
 What is the relation between music and dopamine? Is it positive/negative? Why?
 What are the benefits of playing an instrument? Do you agree? Why/why not?
3. CONSOLIDATION
-SS are to contrast the facts given in the video with the sociocultural arguments explained in a short reading passage they are
to read together. Once they are done, T will make a two-column diagram so as to find differences and similarities. Ss are to
complete it by mentioning relevant aspects. Finally, Ss and T are to draw conclusions based on this latter exercise (10-15
 mins.).
