Wise, the All-Aware. (34:1)

 5  All praise is for Allah, the Originator of the ‫ات َوال ْر ِض َجا ِع ِل‬ َ ٰ َّ
ِ ‫اط ِر السمو‬

heavens and the earth, who appoints the angels

as messengers having wings, in twos, threes and ‫ن َوثلث‬ ‫ول أج ِنح ٍة مث‬ ِ ‫الملئِك ِة رسل أ‬

‫ ِإن اهلل ع‬، ‫ يَ ِزيْ ُد ِف الـل ِق ما يشاء‬، ‫َو ُر َباع‬
fours. He adds to the creation what He wills.
Indeed, Allah is All-Powerful over every thing.

Light of the heavens and the earth and whatever
is therein. For You Alone is all praise; You are ‫ات‬ ِ ‫ ولك الَمد أنت قيوم السمو‬، ‫ومن ِفي ِهن‬
the Maintainer of the heavens and the earth and
whatever is therein. For You Alone is all praise;

‫ت َم ِلك‬ َ ْ ‫ال َ ْم ُد أَن‬
ْ َ َ َ َّ ْ ْ َ َ
‫ ولك‬، ‫َوال ْر ِض ومن ِفي ِهن‬

‫ َولك الَم ُد‬، ‫ات َوال ْر ِض َو َم ْن ِفي ِه َّن‬ َ ٰ َّ
You are the King of the heavens and the earth
and whatever is therein. And for You Alone is all ِ ‫السمو‬

، ‫ َو ِلقاؤ َك َح ٌّق‬، ‫ َو َوع ُد َك َح ٌّق‬، ‫ـق‬ ُّ َ ‫ال‬
praise; You are the Truth. Your promise is the

truth, the meeting with You is the truth, Paradise

is the truth, Hell-Fire is the truth, the Final
، ‫ والساعة حق‬، ‫ وانلار حق‬، ‫والنة حق‬
ُ ‫ك أَ ْسلَ ْم‬ َ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ٌّ َ ٌ َّ َ ُ َ ٌّ َ َ ْ ُّ َّ َ
Hour is the truth, the Prophets are the truth and
Mu ammad  is the truth. O Allah, I surrender ،‫ت‬ ‫ اللهم ل‬، ‫ وممد حق‬، ‫وانل ِبيون حق‬
myself to You Alone, I believe in You Alone, I
ُ ْ َ َ َ ْ َ َ ُ ْ َّ َ َ َ ْ َ َ َ ُ ْ َ َ َ
put my trust in You Alone, I turn to You Alone, ، ‫ وإِلك أنبت‬، ‫ وعليك توكت‬، ‫وبِك آمنت‬
I complain of my opponents to You Alone and I َ َ َ َْ َ ُ ْ َ َ َ َ
ُ ‫اك ْم‬
refer judgement to You Alone. (A mad) .‫ت‬ ‫ وإِلك ح‬، ‫وبِك خاصمت‬

َ َ َ ّٰ َ ُ ُّ ُ ْ َ َ ّٰ َ
 7  O Allah, for You Alone is all praise. O Allah,
‫ الل ُه َّم ل قابِض ل ِ َما‬، ‫ ﴾ الل ُه َّم لك ال َ ْم ُد كه‬٧ ﴿
َ َ َ ‫ َو َل بَاس َط ل َما َقبَ ْض‬، ‫ت‬
none can restrict what You expand and none
‫ َول ها ِد َي‬، ‫ت‬ َ ‫ب َ َس ْط‬
can expand what You have restricted. None can ِ ِ
guide whom You have left astray, and none can َ
‫ َول‬، ‫ت‬ َ ْ ‫ َو َل ُمض َّل ل َم ْن َه َدي‬، ‫ت‬ َ ْ‫ل َم ْن أَ ْضلَل‬
mislead whom You have guided. None can give ِ ِ ِ
what You withhold, and none can withhold what ََ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ َ ََ َ ََْ َ َ ْ ُ
You bestow. None can bring near what You have ‫ ول‬، ‫ ول مانِع لِما أعطيت‬، ‫مع ِطي لِما منعت‬
distanced and none can distance what You have
.‫ت‬َ ْ‫ َو َل ُمبَاع َد ل َما قَ َّرب‬، ‫ت‬
َ ْ َ َ َ َ َُّ
‫مق ِرب لِما باعد‬
brought near. (A mad) ِ ِ

ْ َّ ‫ ﴾ اَللّٰ ُه َّم َر َّب‬٨ ﴿
 8  O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens, Lord of the ‫السبْ ِع َو َر َّب ال َع ْر ِش‬ َّ ‫الس ٰم َوات‬

ّ َْ َ َ ْ َ ّ ُ ‫ َر َّبنَا َو َر َّب‬، ‫الْ َع ِظيْ ِم‬
Magnificent Throne, our Lord and Lord of all
things, Splitter of the seed and the date stone, the ‫ب‬ ِ ‫ فا ِلق ال‬، ‫ك ش ٍء‬ ِ
One who revealed the Torah, the Bible and the َ ْ ُ ْ َ ْ ْ ْ َ َ ْ َّ َ ْ ُ َ ٰ َ َّ َ
Criterion (Qur’ān); I seek Your protection from ، ‫ان‬ ِ ‫ني ِل والفرق‬ ِ ‫ال‬ ِ َ ‫نل اتلورا ِة و‬ ِ ‫ وم‬، ‫وانلوى‬
the evil of every thing You hold by the forehead َ َ ٌ َ ْ ْ َ ُّ ّ َ ْ َ ُْ ُ َ
(i.e. fully control). You are the First and there is ، ‫اصي ِت ِه‬ ِ ‫آخذ بِن‬ِ ‫ك ش ٍء أنت‬ ِ ‫ش‬ ِ ‫أعوذ بِك ِمن‬
nothing before You. You are the Last and there َ‫ َوأَنْت‬، ‫ش ٌء‬ ْ َ ‫ك‬َ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ َ ُ َّ َ ْ َ ْ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
‫اللهم أنت الول فليس قبل‬
َّ َ ْ َ َ ٌ ْ َ َ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ َ ُ ْ
is nothing after You. You are the Most High
and there is nothing above You. You are the ُ‫الظا ِهر‬ ‫ وأنت‬، ‫ال ِخر فليس بعدك شء‬
Most Near and there is nothing closer than You.
َ‫الاط ُن فَلَيْس‬ ْ َ َْ ْ َ ‫ك‬ َ ََْ َ ََْ
(Muslim) ِ َ ‫ َوأنت‬، ‫ش ٌء‬ ‫فليس فوق‬
ٌ.‫شء‬ْ َ ‫ك‬ َ َُْ
‫دون‬

ْ
‫ات َو ِمل َء‬ َ ٰ َّ َ ْ ُ ْ ْ َ َ َ َّ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
ِ ‫ ﴾ اللهم ربنا لك الَمد ِملء السمو‬٩ ﴿
ََْ َْ
 9  O Allah, Our Lord, to You Alone belongs all
ْ َ َ ْ‫ال ْرض َوم ْل َء َما شئ‬
praise. Praise which fills the heavens and the earth ‫ أهل‬، ‫ت ِم ْن ش ٍء َبع ُد‬ ِ ِ ِ
and which fills whatever You wish after that. You
َ َ ُّ ُ ْ َ َ َ ْ ْ
are Most worthy of praise and glory. The greatest ‫ َوكنَا لك‬- ‫ أ َح ُّق َما قال ال َعبْ ُد‬، ‫اثلَّنَا ِء َوال َمج ِد‬
truth the slave can utter is - and we are all Your ْ َ
‫ َول ُمع ِط َي ل ِ َما‬، ‫ت‬ َ ْ‫ َل َمان َع ل َما أَ ْع َطي‬- ‫َعبْ ٌد‬
slaves - there is none who can withhold what You ِ ِ
give, and none can give what You withhold; and ُّ َ ْ َ ْ ّ َ ْ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ َ َ ْ َ َ
the wealth of the wealthy does not avail him from .‫ ول ينفع ذا ال ِد ِمنك الد‬، ‫منعت‬
You. (Abū Dāwūd)

36 37
َّ ‫الر ْحٰن‬ ْ َ
َ ْ ‫ل َ ْم ُد ل َر ّب الْ َعالَم‬
All praise is for Allah, Lord of the worlds, The ‫ َمال ِ ِك‬، ‫الر ِحيْ ِم‬ َّ ، ‫ي‬

Extremely Merciful, The Especially Merciful, َ


َ ْ ‫ أن‬، ‫ت َت ْف َع ُل َما تُريْ ُد‬ َ َّ َ
َ ْ ‫ ل هلإ َ إل أن‬، ‫يَ ْومِ ا ّدليْن‬
Master of the Day of Judgement. There is no ‫ت‬ ِ ِ
َ َ ْ َ َّ َ ِ َ ُ
god worthy of worship except You, You do what
ُ.‫ن َو َنْ ُن الْ ُف َق َراء‬ َ ْ َ ْ
ُّ ‫ أنت الغ‬، ‫اهلل ل هلإ إل أنت‬
You will. You are Allah, there is no god worthy of ِ
worship except You. You are the Rich and Free of
all needs whilst we are poor and in need of You.
‫ال ْي‬
َّ ُ ْ ْ َ ْ ‫آو‬ َ ‫ان َو‬ْ ‫ال ْي َك َف‬ َّ ُ ْ ْ َ
ِ ِ ‫ الَمد‬، ‫ان‬ ِ ِ ‫﴾ الَمد‬١١﴿

    All praise is for Allah who has sufficed me and ، ‫ع فأف َضل‬ ‫الي من‬ِ ‫ل‬ ِ ِ ‫ المد‬، ‫أطعم ِن وسق ِان‬

َّ َ ْ َ ّ َ ُ ْ َ َّ َ ُ ْ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
given me refuge. All praise is for Allah who has fed َ
me and given me drink. All praise is for Allah who .‫ار‬
ِ ‫اللهم ِإ ِن أسألك بِ ِعزتِك أن تن ِجي ِن ِمن انل‬
has been gracious to me and showered favours on
me. O Allah, I ask You by Your Glory to save me
َ ُ َ ُ
‫ َم َّن َعليْنَا‬، ‫ال ْي ي ْط ِع ُم َول ي ْط َع ُم‬
َّ ُ ْ ْ َ
ِ ِ ‫﴾ الَمد‬١٢﴿
from the Hell-Fire. (Abū Dāwūd)

، ‫ َوك بَل ٍء َح َس ٍن أبْلنا‬، ‫ف َه َدانا َوأ ْط َع َمنَا َو َسقانا‬

    All praise is for Allah who feeds and is not fed.

He favoured us, and thus guided us, blessed us
َ ُ ْ َ َ َ َ َّ َ ْ َ
with food and drink, and bestowed upon us every
‫ي ُم َود ٍع َول ُمكفأ َول َمكف ْو ٍر َول‬ ‫لغ‬ِ ِ ‫الَمد‬
َّ ‫ل َ ْم ُد ل َّال ْي أَ ْط َع َم م َن‬ ْ َ َُْ ًَْ ْ ُ
favour. All praise is for Allah, a praise which we
will never bid farewell to, a never-ending praise, ، ِ‫الط َعام‬ ِ ِ ِ ِ ‫ ا‬، ‫مستغن عنه‬
ْ َ
ٰ ‫ َو َه َد‬، ‫ َوك َسا ِم َن ال ُع ْري‬، ‫الشاب‬ َ َّ ‫ق ِم َن‬ ٰ َ ‫َو َس‬
an accepted praise and an indispensable praise. All
praise is for Allah who provided food and drink; ‫ى‬ ِ ِ
who clothed us, guided us from error, removed ْ َ ٰ َ َ َ َّ َ َ ٰ َ َ ْ َ َ َّ َ َ َ َ َّ َ
our blindness and favoured us greatly over many ‫ي‬
ٍ ‫ع ك ِث‬ ‫ وفضل‬، ‫ وبص ِمن العم‬، ‫ِمن الضلل ِة‬
of His creation. All praise is for Allah, Lord of the َ ْ ‫ل َ ْم ُد ل َر ّب الْ َعالم‬
َ ْ َ ًْ َْ ْ َ ْ ّ
worlds. (Nasā’ī) .‫ي‬ ِ ِ ِ ِ ‫ ا‬، ‫ِمن خل ِق ِه تف ِضيل‬

14 Glory be to Allah as much as all He has created. ‫هلل ِمل َء‬ ِ ‫ سبحان ا‬، ‫هلل عدد ما خلق‬ ِ ‫﴾ سبحان ا‬١٤﴿

Glory be to Allah as much as what can fill His


‫هلل َع َدد َما ِف ال ْر ِض‬

creation. Glory be to Allah as much as what is in ِ ‫ سبحان ا‬، ‫ما خلق‬
َْ ْ َ َ ْ ُ
‫هلل ِمل َء َما ِف ال ْر ِض‬ ِ ‫ سبحان ا‬، ‫َوالسما ِء‬

the earth and the sky. Glory be to Allah as much
as what can fill the earth and the sky. Glory be to

، ‫ص ِكتَابُه‬ ِ ‫ سبحان ا‬، ‫َوالسما ِء‬

Allah as much as as what His Book has recorded.
‫هلل عدد ما أ‬

Glory be to Allah as much as what fills His Book.
Glory be to Allah as much as everything. Glory َ َ ْ ُ
‫هلل‬
ِ ‫ سبحان ا‬، ‫ص ِكتابه‬ ‫هلل ِملء ما أح‬ ِ ‫سبحان ا‬
be to Allah as much as what fills everything. All

praise is for Allah as much as what He has created. ‫ ال َ ْم ُد‬، ‫ش ٍء‬ ‫ك‬ِ ‫هلل ِملء‬ ِ ‫ سبحان ا‬، ‫ش ٍء‬ ‫عدد ك‬
All praise is for Allah as much as what can fill His

praise is for Allah as much as what His Book has

fills His Book. All praise is for Allah as much as

everything. All praise is for Allah as much as what

.‫هلل ال َع ِظيْم‬ َْ

    Allah is free from imperfection and all praise is
ِ ‫ سبحان ا‬، ِ‫هلل َو ِبم ِده‬
ِ ‫﴾ سبحان ا‬١٦﴿
for Him. Allah, The Magnificent, is free from
imperfection. (Bukhārī)

‫ َو ِر َضا‬، ‫ َع َدد خل ِقـ ِه‬، ِ‫هلل َو ِبَ ْم ِده‬ ِ ‫﴾ سبحان ا‬١٧﴿
Allah is free from imperfection and all praise

.‫ َو ِم َداد كِ َماتِـ ِه‬، ‫ َو ِزنـة َع ْر ِشـ ِه‬، ‫نف ِسـ ِه‬

is for Him, (in ways) as numerous as all He has


created, (as vast) as His pleasure, (as limitless) as
the weight of His Throne, and (as endless) as the
ink of His words. (Muslim)

    How free from imperfection is the Owner of

might, dominion, magnificence and greatness. .‫والعظم ِة‬

    The Supremely Perfect, the Most Pure, the Lord
of the angels and the Spirit ( Jibrīl). (Muslim)

‫ات‬ َ ٰ َّ ُّ َ ُ َّ َ ْ ُ ِ ‫اهلل ال ْ َو‬ ُ ‫ل َّإل‬ َ ٰ ‫﴾ َل إ‬٢١﴿


There is no god worthy of worship except Allah,
ِ ‫ رب السمو‬، ‫احد القهار‬
َِ ْ َ

ُ.‫ال ْر ِض َو َما بَيْنَ ُه َما الْ َعزيْ ُز الْ َغ َّفار‬


the One, the Supremely Powerful; Lord of the
heavens and the earth and whatever is in between
ِ ‫و‬
them, the All-Mighty, the Most Forgiving.
(Ibn ibbān)

ُ ْ ْ َُ َُ َ ْ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ ُ َّ َ ٰ َ

    There is no god worthy of worship except Allah. ‫ل ال ُملك‬ ، ‫شيك ل‬ ِ ‫ل‬ ‫ه‬‫د‬ ‫ح‬‫و‬ ‫اهلل‬ ‫ل‬ ِ‫﴾ ل إِل إ‬٢٢﴿
He is Alone and He has no partner whatsoever.
َ َ ْ ُ ٌ ْ َ ْ َ ّ ُ ٰ َ َ َ ُ َ ُ ْ َْ ُ َ َ
To Him Alone belong all sovereignty and all ‫ سبحان‬، ‫ك ش ٍء ق ِدير‬ ِ ‫ وهو ع‬، ‫ول ال ْمد‬
ََ َُْ َ ُ َ ُ َّ َ ٰ َ ُ ْ
ِ ِ ‫هلل َوالَمد‬
praise. He is over all things All-Powerful. Allah
is free from imperfection, and all praise is for ‫ ول‬، ‫ل ول إِل إِل اهلل واهلل أكب‬ ِ ‫ا‬
Allah. There is no god worthy of worship except ْ َ ْ َْ َّ َ َّ ُ َ َ َ ْ َ
.‫ل الع ِظي ِم‬ ّ ‫هلل الع‬
Allah and Allah is the Greatest. There is no power ِ ِ ِ ‫حول ول قوة إِل بِا‬
(in averting evil) or strength (in attaining good)
except through Allah, the Most High, the Most
Magnificent. (Ibn Mājah)

ُ ‫ل إ َّل‬
‫اهلل َر ُّب‬ َ ٰ َ ُ ْ َ ْ ُ ْ َ ْ ُ َّ َ ٰ َ
There is no god worthy of worship except Allah,
ِ ِ‫ ل إ‬، ‫﴾ ل إِل إِل اهلل الع ِظيم ال ِليم‬٢٣﴿

the Magnificent, The Forbearing. There is no


َ ٰ َّ ُّ َ ُ َّ َ ٰ َ ْ َ ْ َْْ
god worthy of worship except Allah, Lord of the ‫ات‬
ِ ‫ ل إِل إِل اهلل رب السمو‬، ‫العر ِش الع ِظي ِم‬
َ ْ ْ َْ
.‫َو َر ُّب ال ْر ِض َو َر ُّب ال َع ْر ِش الك ِريْ ِم‬
Magnificent Throne. There is no god worthy of
worship except Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord
of the earth and Lord of the Noble Throne.
(Bukhārī)

ُ ‫ل َّإل‬ َ ٰ ‫ َل إ‬، ‫كريْ ُم‬َ ْ ُ ْ َْ ُ َّ َ ٰ َ

The Forbearing, The Most Generous. There

is no god worthy of worship except Allah, The ‫ات‬
ِ ‫هلل ر ِب السمو‬ ِ ‫ سبحان ا‬، ‫ل الع ِظيم‬ ‫الع‬
Most High, The Magnificent. Allah is free from
ّ َ ُ ْ َْ َ ْ َ ْ ْ َ ْ ّ َ ْ ِ َّ
imperfection, Lord of the seven heavens and the ‫ل ر ِب‬ ِ ِ ‫ المد‬، ‫السب ِع ور ِب العر ِش الع ِظي ِم‬
Lord of the Magnificent Throne. All praise is for
.‫ي‬ َ ْ ‫الْ َعالَم‬
Allah, Lord of the worlds. (A mad) ِ

َ َ َ َ َ َ َ َ َ ُ ْ ُ َ َ ُ ْ ُ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
O Allah, I call upon You, Your angels, the bearers

‫وحلة‬ ‫ وأش ِهد ملئِكتك‬، ‫﴾ اللهم ِإ ِن أش ِهدك‬٢٥﴿
ْ َ ُ ْ َُ َ َْ
of Your Throne, and all those in the heavens
and the earth to bear witness that surely You are ‫ات َو َم ْن ِف‬ َ ٰ َّ
ِ ‫ وأش ِهد من ِف السمو‬، ‫عر ِشك‬
َ ْ َ ْ َ َّ َ ٰ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ َّ َ ْ َ ْ
‫ ل‬، ‫ت َوح َد َك‬
Allah. There is no god but You Alone. You have
no partner whatsoever, and I bear witness that ‫الر ِض أنك أنت اهلل ل ِإل ِإل أن‬
Mu ammad  is Your slave and Your Messenger. َُ ْ ُ َ َ َ ُ ْ َ ً َّ َ ُ َّ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ َ َ َ ْ َ
( ākim) .‫ وأشهد أن ممدا عبدك ورسولك‬، ‫شيك لك‬ ِ

O Allah, I seek protection in Your pleasure from َ َ
، ‫اك ِم ْن َسخ ِطك‬ َ ‫ن أَ ُع ْو ُذ بر َض‬
ْ ّ ‫﴾ اَللّٰ ُه َّم إ‬٢٦﴿

Your anger, and in Your forgiveness from Your

punishment. I seek protection from You through ، ‫ وأعوذ بِك ِمنك‬، ‫وبِمعافاتِك ِمن عقوب ِتك‬
You. I cannot enumerate Your praise. You are as
You have praised Yourself. (Abū Dāwūd) ََٰ ‫ت‬
‫ع‬ َ ْ‫ت َك َما أَثْنَي‬
َ ْ ‫ أَن‬، ‫ك‬ َ َْ َ ً ََ ْ ْ ُ َ
‫ل أح ِص ثناء علي‬
َ َْ
.‫نف ِسك‬

ُ ‫ك َم ْن ت َ َش‬ َ ْ ُْ ُْ ْ ْ َ ّٰ َ
27
    O Allah, Lord of the kingdom, You grant kingdom ، ‫اء‬ ‫ تؤ ِت المل‬، ‫﴾ الل ُه َّم َمالِك ال ُمل ِك‬٢٧﴿
to whoever you will, and You take kingdom away
ُ ‫ َوتُ ِع ُّز َم ْن ت َ َش‬، ‫اء‬ ُ ‫ك ِم َّم ْن ت َ َش‬َ ْ ُْ ُ ََْ
from whoever You will. You honour whoever ، ‫اء‬ ‫نع المل‬ ِ ‫وت‬
You will and You disgrace whoever You will. ّ ُ َ َ َ َّ ُ ْ َ ْ َ َ ُ َ َ ْ َ ُّ ُ َ
All good is in Your hands. You are All-Powerful ‫ك‬ِ ‫ع‬ ٰ ‫ ِإنك‬، ‫ ِبي ِدك الي‬، ‫وت ِذل من تشاء‬
ْ ْ ُّ َ ٰ ْ َ ٌ ْ َ ْ َ
، ‫ادلنيَا َوال ِخ َر ِة َو َر ِحيْ َمه َما‬
ُ
over everything. (O) The Extremely Merciful
and The Especially Merciful in this world and ‫ رحن‬.‫ش ٍء ق ِدير‬
the hereafter; You give from them (this world َ َ َ ُ ْ
ُ ‫ َوتمن ُع ِمنه َما م ْن تش‬، ‫اء‬ َ ْ َ ُ ‫ُت ْع ِطيْه َما َم ْن ت َ َش‬
and the hereafter) whomsoever You will and You
، ‫اء‬ ِ
َ.‫حة َم ْن س َواك‬ َ ْ ‫ن ب َها َع ْن َّر‬ ْ ْ ُْ ًََْ ْ َْْ
ِ ِ ِ ِ ‫ِارح ِن رحة تغ ِني‬
withhold from them whomsoever You will. Have
mercy on me which will leave me free of the mercy
of those other than You. ( abarānī)

48 49
َ ُ َ ْ َ َ َّ َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ ّ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
O Allah, I beg You as I bear witness that You are ‫اهلل ل‬ ‫﴾ اللهم إِ ِن أسألك بِأ ِن أشهد أنك أنت‬٢٨﴿

Allah, there is no god worthy of worship except َْ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َّ َ ُ َ َّ ُ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َّ َ ٰ


You, the One, the Self-Sufficient Master, who has ‫ ولم‬، ‫لي لم ي ِل‬ِ ‫ ا‬، ‫إِل إِل أنت الحد الصمد‬
ٌ َ ُ ُ َّ ُ َ َ
.‫ َول ْم يَك ْن ُل كف ًوا أ َحد‬، ‫يُ ْو ْل‬
not given birth and was not born, and to whom
none is equal. (Tirmidhī)

َّ َ ٰ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َّ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
29
    O Allah, I beg You as all praise only belongs to ‫ل ِإل‬ ‫ ل ِإ‬، ‫﴾ اللهم ِإ ِن أسألك بِأن لك المد‬٢٩﴿
You. There is no god worthy of worship except
َ َ َْ َ ٰ َّ ُ ْ َ ُ َّ َ ْ َ ْ َ
You, The Giver of all good, The Originator of ‫ يا ذا‬، ‫ات َوال ْر ِض‬ ِ ‫ ب ِديع السمو‬، ‫أنت المنان‬
َ ُّ َ َ ْ ْ َ َ َْ
.‫ح يَا ق ُّي ْو ُم‬
the heavens and the earth. O Lord of Majesty
and Honour, O the Ever Living, O the One who ‫ يا‬، ِ‫الك َرام‬
ِ ‫الل ِل و‬
sustains and protects all that exists. (Tirmidhī)

َ ّٰ َ
O Allah, honour and have mercy upon

‫ ك َما‬، ‫آل م َّم ٍد‬
َُ
ِ ‫ع‬ ٰ َ َ ‫ع ُمَ َّم ٍد َو‬ ٰ َ َ ‫﴾ الل ُه َّم َص ّ ِل‬٣٠﴿
َ َّ ٰ َ َ ‫ع ِإب ْ َرا ِهيْ َم َو‬
ََٰ ‫ت‬ َ ْ‫َصلَّي‬
Mu ammad and the family of Mu ammad as
ْ
You have honoured and had mercy upon Ibrāhīm ‫ ِإنك‬، ‫آل ِإب ْ َرا ِهي َم‬ ِ ‫ع‬
and the family of Ibrāhīm. Indeed, You are the
‫آل‬ ٰ َ َ ‫ع ُمَ َّم ٍد َو‬ٰ َ َ ‫ار ْك‬ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ٌ ْ َّ ‫َحيْ ٌد‬
Most Praiseworthy, the Most Glorious. O Allah, ِ ‫ع‬ ِ ‫ اللهم ب‬، ‫ميد‬ ِ ِ
bless Mu ammad and the family of Mu ammad َٰ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ ٰ َ َ َ ْ َ َ َ َ َّ َُ
as You have blessed Ibrāhīm and the family of ‫آل‬ِ ‫ كما باركت ع ِإبرا ِهيم وع‬، ‫مم ٍد‬
ٌ َّ ٌ ْ َ َ َّ َ ْ َ ْ
.‫ميْد‬
Ibrāhīm. Indeed, You are the Most Praiseworthy,
the Most Glorious. (Bukhārī) ِ ‫حيد‬ ِ ‫ ِإنك‬، ‫ِإبرا ِهيم‬

Mu ammad and His household, as You have
honoured and had mercy upon the family of ، ‫ميْد‬
ٌ َّ ٌ ْ َ َ َّ َ ْ َ ْ
ِ ‫حيد‬ ِ ‫ إِنك‬، ‫آل إِبرا ِهيم‬ ِ ‫ع‬ ََٰ ‫ت‬
َ ُ ٰ َ َ ْ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ْ ُ َ َ َ ْ َ َ ّ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
‫ع م َّم ٍد‬
Ibrāhīm. Indeed, You are the Most Praiseworthy,
the Most Glorious. O Allah, honour and have ‫ارك‬ِ ‫ اللهم ب‬، ‫اللهم ص ِل علينا معهم‬
َ ْ ْ ََٰ ‫ت‬ َ ‫ار ْك‬
َ َ‫ َك َما ب‬، ‫ع آل بَيْته‬ ََ
َ ِ ِ ِ ٰ ‫َّو‬
mercy upon us alongside them. O Allah, bless
Mu ammad and his household as You have ، ‫آل إِبرا ِهيم‬ ِ ‫ع‬
َ ْ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ٌ ْ َّ ٌ ْ َ َ َّ
، ‫ارك َعليْنَا َم َع ُه ْم‬
blessed the family of Ibrāhīm. Indeed You are
the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Glorious. O ِ ‫ اللهم ب‬، ‫ميد‬ ِ ‫حيد‬ ِ ‫إِنك‬
َّ
ّ ‫ع مم ٍد انل‬ َّ َ ُ َ َ َ ْ ْ ُ ْ ُ َ َ َ ُ ََ َ
Allah, bless us alongside them. May the blessings
‫يب‬ ٰ ‫هلل وصلة المؤ ِم ِني‬ ِ ‫ا‬ ‫ات‬ ‫صلو‬

ّ ّ ِ ‫ْال‬
of Allah and the prayers of the believers be for
Mu ammad, the unlettered Prophet. (Dāraqu nī) .‫م‬ِ

have honoured and had mercy on the family of ‫ارك ع مم ٍد‬ ِ ‫ وب‬، ‫آل إِبرا ِهيم‬ ِ ‫صليت ع‬
Ibrāhīm. Bless Mu ammad, his spouses and
َ، ‫ع آل إب ْ َرا ِهيْم‬ َٰ َ َ ْ َ َ َ َ ُ
‫ كما باركت‬، ‫اج ِه َوذ ِّر َّي ِت ِه‬ َ ْ َ َّ
his progeny as You have blessed the family of ِ ِ ِ ‫وأزو‬
Ibrāhīm. Indeed, You are the Most Praiseworthy, ٌ ْ َّ ٌ ْ َ َ َّ

Allah, The Extremely Merciful, The Especially .‫دلي ِن‬ ِ ‫ مال ِ ِك يومِ ا‬.‫ الرح ِن الر ِحي ِم‬.‫العال ِمي‬
Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgement. You
َ‫الصاط‬ َ ِّ ‫ ِا ْه ِدنَا‬.‫ي‬ ُ ْ ‫اك ن َ ْستَع‬
َ َّ‫اك َن ْعبُ ُد َوإي‬ َ َّ‫إي‬
Alone we worship, You Alone we ask for help. ِ ِ ِ
Guide us on the Straight Path, the path of those ْ‫ت َعلَيْه ْم َغي‬ َ ‫اط َّال ْي َن أَ ْن َع ْم‬َ َ َ
‫ ِص‬.‫المست ِقيم‬
ْ َ ْ ُْ
whom You have favoured, not of those who incur ِ ِ ِ
(Your) anger nor of those who have gone astray. َ.‫الضآلّ ْي‬ َّ َ َ ْ ْ َ َ ْ ُ ْ َ ْ
(1:1-7) ِ ‫المغضو ِب علي ِهم ول‬

ُ ْ‫ن ُكن‬ ّْ‫ك إ‬ َ َ َ ْ ُ َ ْ َ َّ َ ٰ َ ﴾ ٢ ﴿


 2  There is no god worthy of worship except You.
You are free from imperfection. Indeed, I have
‫ت ِم َن‬ ِِ ‫ل ِإل ِإل أنت سبحان‬
.‫ي‬ َ ْ ‫الظالم‬
َّ
been of the wrongdoers. (21:87)
ِِ
 3  My Lord, I have certainly wronged myself, so ْ َ ْ َْ ُ ْ َ َ ّْ ّ َ
ْ ‫اغ ِف ْر‬
forgive me. (28:16) .‫ل‬ِ ‫ ﴾ ر ِب إِ ِن ظلمت نف ِس ف‬٣ ﴿

َ َ َ َ ْ ْ َ ْ َّ ْ َ َ َ ُ ْ َ َ ْ َ َ َ َّ َ ﴾ ﴿
 4  Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do
‫لا َوت ْرحْنَا‬ ‫ ربنا ظلمنا أنفسنا وإِن لم تغ ِفر‬٤
َ ْ َ َّ َ ْ ُ َ َ
not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will
surely be amongst the losers. (7:23) .‫اسيْ َن‬
ِ ِ ‫لكونن ِمن ال‬
َ ْ ‫ار َحْنَا َوأَن‬
ُ ْ ‫ت َخ‬ ْ ‫اغف ْر َلَا َو‬
ْ َ َ َ َْ
ِ ‫ ﴾ أنت َو ِ ُّلنا ف‬٥ ﴿
 5  You are our Protector, so forgive us and have
‫ي‬
َْ
mercy upon us. You are the best of those who
forgive. (7:155) .‫الغافِ ِريْ َن‬
56 57
َ ‫اغف ْر َلَا ُذنُ ْو َبنَا َوقنَا َع َذ‬
‫اب‬
ْ َ َّ َ َ َّ َ َّ َ
 6  Our Lord, indeed we have believed, so forgive us
ِ ِ ‫ ﴾ ربنا إِننا آمنا ف‬٦ ﴿

our sins and protect us from the punishment of

the Fire. (3:16)

ْ َ َّ َ َ َّ َ
 7  Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have
ِ ‫ ﴾ ربنا آمنا ف‬٧ ﴿
mercy upon us: You are the Best of those who are
.‫ي‬ َ ْ ‫اح‬ َّ
merciful. (23:109) ِ ِ ‫الر‬
َ ْ ‫اح‬
.‫ي‬ َّ ‫ي‬ َ ْ ‫ار َح ْم َوأَن‬
ُ ْ ‫ت َخ‬ ْ ّ َ
ْ ‫اغف ْر َو‬
 8  My Lord, forgive and have mercy. You are the
Best of those who are merciful. (23:118)
ِ ِ ‫الر‬ ِ ‫ ﴾ ر ِب‬٨ ﴿
ْ ْ ‫ك َما لَيْ َس‬َ ََ ْ َ ْ َ َ ُ ْ ُ َ ْ ّ ّ َ ﴾ ﴿
 9  My Lord, I seek Your protection from asking You
، ‫ل بِ ِه ِعل ٌم‬ ِ ‫ ر ِب إِ ِن أعوذ بِك أن أسأل‬٩
anything about which I have no knowledge. And
َ.‫الَاسيْن‬ ْ َ ّ ْ ُ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ ْ ْ َ َّ َ
‫ن أكن ِمن‬ ْ ‫وإل تغ ِفر ِل وترح‬
unless You forgive me and have mercy upon me, I
shall be amongst the losers. (11:47)

    Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who ‫الي َن َسبَق ْونا‬ ِ ‫لخوانِنا‬ ِ ِ ‫﴾ ربنا اغ ِفر لا و‬١٠﴿
preceded us in faith. Do not put in our hearts ْ َّ ّ ًّ َ ْ ُ ُ ْ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ
‫لي َن‬ َْ ْ ‫ب‬
any hatred toward those who have believed. Our ِ ‫ ول تعل ِف قلوبِنا ِغل ِل‬، ‫ان‬ ِ ‫اليم‬
ِ ِ
Lord, indeed You are the Most Compassionate,
ٌ.‫ك َر ُؤ ْو ٌف َّرحيْم‬
َ َّ َ َّ َ ْ ُ َ
‫آمنوا ربنا إِن‬
the Ever-Merciful. (59:10) ِ
ّ ُ َ َ َ َّ َ َ ْ ْ َ َ َ ْ ُ َ َ ْ ْ َ َ َّ َ

    Our Lord, perfect for us our light and forgive us. ‫ك‬
ِ ‫ع‬ ٰ ‫﴾ ربنا أت ِمم لا نورنا واغ ِفر لا إِنك‬١١﴿
Indeed, You are All-Powerful over everything.

Our Lord, turn away from us the punishment َ َّ
‫ ِإن َعذ َاب َها‬، ‫اب َج َهن َم‬
َّ َ ‫اص ْف َع َّنا َع َذ‬ ْ َ َّ َ
ِ ‫﴾ ربنا‬١٣﴿

of Hell-fire. Indeed, its punishment is endless.


ً ‫ت ُم ْستَ َق ًّرا َّو ُم َق‬ ْ َ َ َ َّ ً َ َ َ َ
Indeed it is an evil residence and abode. (25:65-6) .‫اما‬ ‫ ِإنها سآء‬.‫كن غراما‬
َ َ َ َ ْ ُ ً َ َ ٰ َ ْ َ َ َ َ َّ َ

    Our Lord, You have not created all this (the ‫حانك ف ِقنَا‬ ‫ سب‬، ‫اطل‬ ِ ‫﴾ ربنا ما خلقت هذا ب‬١٤﴿
heavens and the earth) without purpose- You
ْ َ َ َ َّ ْ ُ ْ َ َ َّ َ َّ َ َّ َ َ َ
are free from any defects- so protect us from the ‫ ربنا ِإنك من تد ِخ ِل انلار فقد‬.‫ار‬ ِ ‫َعذاب انل‬
torment of the Fire. Our Lord, indeed whoever َ‫ َر َّبنا‬.‫ي م ْن أَن ْ َصار‬ َ ْ ‫لظالم‬ َّ َ َ ََُْ ْ
You admit to the Fire, You have disgraced him, ٍَ ِ ِ ِ ِ ‫ وما ل‬، ‫أخزيته‬
and for the wrongdoers there are no helpers. ْ
‫ان أن آ ِمنُ ْوا‬ َ ‫إ َّننَا َسم ْعنَا ُمنَاديًا ُّينَاد ْي ل ْل ْي‬
‫م‬
Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller calling ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ
to faith, [saying], ‹Believe in your Lord,› so we ّْ َ َ َ َ ْ ُ ُ َ َ ْ ْ َ َ َّ َ َّ َ َ ْ ُ ّ َ
‫ ربنا فاغ ِفر لا ذنوبنا وك ِفر‬، ‫بِربِكم فآمنا‬
have believed. Our Lord, forgive us our sins, wipe َ ْ َ َ َ َّ َ َ َ َ َ ّ َ َّ َ
out our bad deeds, and let us die with the truly
‫ َر َّبنَا َوآتِنَا َما‬.‫ار‬ ِ ‫ر‬ َ ْ ‫الب‬ ‫عنا س ِيئاتِنا وتوفنا مع‬
righteous. Our Lord, bestow upon us all that You
َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ ُ َ َ َ ُ ُ َ َ َ َّ ْ َ َ
have promised us through Your messengers and ، ‫ع رس ِلك ول ت ِزنا يوم ال ِقيام ِة‬ ٰ ‫وعدتنا‬
َ ْ ُ ْ ُ َ َ َّ
.‫ِإنك ل ت ِلف ال ِميْ َعاد‬
do not humiliate us on the Day of Resurrection.
Indeed, You never break Your promise. (3:191-4)

ْ َّ ْ ْ َ ً ْ َّ ً َ ْ َّ ْ َ َّ ُ َ ْ َ َ َّ َ

    Our Lord, You have encompassed all things
‫لي َن‬ ِ ِ ‫ فاغ ِفر ل‬، ‫﴾ ربنا و ِسعت ك ش ٍء رحة و ِعلما‬١٥﴿
in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who ْ َ َ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ ُ َ َّ َ ْ ُ َ
have repented and followed Your path, and .‫اب ال َ ِحيْ ِم‬ ‫تابوا واتبعوا س ِبيلك و ِق ِهم عذ‬
protect them from the punishment of Hell-fire.
60 61
َّ ْ ْ َّ ْ َ َّ َ ْ ُ ْ ْ َ َ َ َّ َ
Our Lord, admit them to the eternal gardens of ‫ت َو َعدت ُه ْم َو َم ْن‬ ‫ال‬ ‫ن‬
ٍ ‫د‬‫ع‬ ‫ات‬
ِ ‫ن‬ ‫ربنا وأد ِخلهم ج‬

Paradise which You have promised them, along
َ َّ ْ َّ ّ ُ َ ْ َ ْ
with whoever was righteous from their fathers, ‫ إِنك‬، ‫اج ِهم وذ ِرياتِ ِهم‬ ِ ‫َصلح ِمن آبائِ ِهم وأزو‬
َ ْ ََ َ ّ َّ ُ ُ ْ ِ َ ‫ال‬ ْ ُْ َْ َ ْ
ِ ‫ َوقِ ِهم الس ِيئ‬.‫كيم‬
their spouses and their children. Indeed, You,
and only You, are the All-Mighty and All-Wise. ‫ ومن ت ِق‬، ‫ات‬ ‫أنت الع ِزيز‬
Protect them from all evil deeds. You will have ُ‫ك ُه َو الْ َف ْوز‬ َ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ َ َ ّ َّ
bestowed Your mercy on those You protect from ِ ‫ وذل‬، ‫ات يومئِ ٍذ فقد ر ِحته‬ ِ ‫الس ِيئ‬
ْ
the evil deeds on that Day: that is the greatest
achievement indeed. (40:7-9)
.‫ال َع ِظيْ ُم‬
My Lord, truly I am in dire need of any good ٌ ْ ‫ل ِم ْن َخ ْي فَق‬ َّ َ ‫ت إ‬ َ ْ ََْ َ ّْ ّ َ
.‫ي‬ ِ ٍ ِ ‫﴾ ر ِب ِإ ِن لِما أنزل‬١٦﴿

which You may send me. (28:24)

    Our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in
the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of
‫ادلنيَا َح َسنَة َّو ِف ال ِخ َر ِة َح َسنَة‬ ‫﴾ َر َّبنَا آتِنَا ِف‬١٧﴿
.‫ار‬ َّ َ َ َ َ َّ
ِ ‫و ِقنا عذاب انل‬
the Fire. (2:201)

    Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and
provide us with guidance in our matter. (18:10)

    My Lord, put my heart at peace for me, and make
my task easy for me. (20:25)

My Lord, grant me wisdom and join me with the

. ‫ل ل ِ َسان ِصد ٍق ِف ال ِخ ِريْ َن‬
righteous. And grant that I may be spoken of with
honour amongst the later generations. And make ِ ‫و‬
me amongst those who will inherit the Garden of
ْ‫ َو َل ُتْزن‬...‫انل ِعيْ ِم‬
َّ ‫ن ِم ْن َّو َرثَ ِة َج َّن ِة‬ ْ َ
ْ ‫َواجعل‬ ْ
Bliss... And do not disgrace me on the Day they ِِ ِ
will be resurrected - the Day when neither wealth َ ْ ُ َ َ َّ ٌ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ َ َ ْ ُ َ ْ ُ َ ْ َ
. ‫ يوم ل ينفع مال ول بنون‬. ‫يو م يبعثون‬
َ َ ْ َ َّ
nor children will be of any use - except for the one
ْ َ َ
who comes to Allah with a sound heart. (26:83-89)
.‫ب َس ِليْ ٍم‬ ٍ ‫إِل من أ ت اهلل بِقل‬

ْ ‫الص َل ِة َو ِم ْن ُذ ّر َّي‬
َّ ‫ن ُمقيْ َم‬ َْ ْ ّ َ
ِ ْ ِ ‫﴾ ر ِب اجعل‬٢٢﴿
22 My Lord, make me steadfast in alāh, and my
‫ت‬ ِ ِ
   

offspring as well. Our Lord, accept my prayer. Our


ْ َ َّ َ َ ُ ْ َّ َ َ َ َّ َ
Lord, forgive me, my parents, and all the believers
‫ال َّي‬
َ ‫ل َول َو‬
ِ ِ ْ ِ ‫ ربنا اغ ِف ْر‬.ِ‫ربنا َوتقبل دعآء‬
on the Day when the Reckoning will take place. ْ ُْ َُ ََْ َْ ُْْ
ُ ‫ال َس‬
(14:40-1) .‫اب‬ ِ ‫َولِلمؤ ِم ِني يوم يقوم‬

ً ْ ‫ان َصغ‬َ َّ َ َ َ َ ُ ْ َ ْ ّ َ

    My Lord, have mercy upon them (my parents) as they
raised and nurtured me when I was young. (17:24)
.‫يا‬ ِ ْ ِ ‫﴾ ر ِب ارحهما كما ربي‬٢٣﴿
َ َّ ً ً ُ َ ْ َّ ْ َ ّ َ

    My Lord, grant me from Yourself pious offspring.
Indeed, You hear all prayers. (3:38)
‫ ِإنك َس ِميْ ُع‬، ‫ل ِم ْن ُلنك ذ ِّر َّية َط ِّيبَة‬

    My Lord, grant me (offspring) from amongst the

be a joy to our eyes, and make us leaders of those

who have taqwā. (25:74)
ِ ‫واجعلنا لِلمت ِق‬

28 My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favour


‫ت‬ َ ‫ت أَ ْن َع ْم‬ ْ َّ‫ك ال‬ َ ََْ َُ َْ َْ ْ ْ َْ ّ َ ﴾ ﴿
‫ ر ِب أو ِزع ِن أن أشكر نِعمت‬٢٨
ِ
   

which You have bestowed upon me and upon my


َ ْ َ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َّ َ ٰ َ َ َ َّ َ َ
parents, and to do good deeds that please You. ، ‫الًا ترض ُاه‬ ِ ‫ع َو ِالي َوأن أعمل ص‬ ‫عو‬
َ ْ ْ َ
َ.‫الصال ْي‬ َّ ‫ف عبَاد َك‬ ْ ‫َوأ ْد ِخل‬
And admit me by Your mercy amongst Your

righteous servants. (27:19) ِِ ِ ِ ْ ِ ‫ن بِ َرح ِتك‬ ِ
29 My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favour
‫ت‬َ ‫ت أَ ْن َع ْم‬ ْ َّ‫ك ال‬ َ ََْ َُ َْ َْ ْ ْ َْ ّ َ ﴾ ﴿
‫ ر ِب أو ِزع ِن أن أشكر نِعمت‬٢٩
ِ
   

َ ً َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َّ َ َ ٰ َ َ َ َّ َ َ
which You have bestowed upon me and upon my
ُ َ ْ
parents, and to do good deeds that please You. ، ‫الا ترضاه‬ ِ ‫ع وع و ِالي وأن أعمل ص‬
Make my offspring righteous; I truly repent to
َ‫ن ِمن‬ ّْ َ َ ْ َ ُ ْ ُ ْ ّ ْ َّ ّ ُ ْ ْ ْ ْ َ َ
you, and truly I am of those who submit to You. ِ ِ‫ إِ ِن تبت إِلك و إ‬، ‫وأص ِلح ِل ِف ذ ِري ِت‬
(46:15)
.‫ي‬َ ْ ‫ال ْ ُم ْسلم‬

ُ َ ْ َ َّ َ ‫ك ِم ْن َه َم‬ َ ُُْ َ ّ َ ﴾ ﴿

    My Lord, I seek protection with You from the
promptings of the devils; and I seek protection in
‫ َوأ ُع ْوذ‬.‫ي‬
ِ ‫اط‬
ِ ‫ي‬ ‫الش‬ ‫ات‬
ِ ‫ز‬ ِ‫ ر ِب أعو َذ ب‬٣٠

ُ ُ ْ‫ك َر ّب أ ْن ي‬ َ
You, my Lord, from their coming near me. (23:97) .‫ض ْو ِن‬ ِ ِ‫ب‬

َ‫ َر َّبنا‬، ‫خ َطأْنَا‬ ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ َّ ْ َ ْ َ ُ َ َ َّ َ ﴾ ﴿
Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have ‫اخذنا إِن ن ِسينا أو أ‬ ِ ‫ ربنا ل تؤ‬٣١

us a burden as You laid upon those before us. Our ‫الين‬ ِ ‫ول ت ِمل علينا إِصا كما حلته ع‬
َ ََ َ ْ ُ َ َ
، ‫ َر َّبنَا َول تَ ِّملنَا َما ل َطاقة لَا بِ ِه‬، ‫ِم ْن قبْ ِلنَا‬
Lord, and do not burden us with that which we
have no ability to bear. Pardon us, forgive us and
َ َ
‫ت َم ْولنا‬ َ ْ ‫ار َحْنَا أَن‬
ْ ‫اغف ْر َلَا َو‬ْ َّ َ ُ ْ
ِ ‫َواعف عنا َو‬
have mercy upon us. You are our Protector, so
help us against the disbelieving people. (2:285-6)
َ ْ َْ َ َْ ُ ْ َ
.‫صنا َع الق ْومِ الكفِ ِريْ َن‬ ‫فان‬

ْ ‫ف أَ ْمرنَا َوثَ ّب‬ َ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ ُ ُ َ َ ْ ْ َ َّ


ْ ِ ‫افنَا‬ ‫﴾ ربنا اغ ِفر لا ذنوبنا وإِس‬٣٢﴿

    Our Lord, forgive us our sins and our extravagance
‫ت‬ ِ ِ
َ ْ َْ َ َْ ُ ْ َ ََ ََْ
in our affairs. Make our feet firm, and help us
against the disbelieving people. (3:147) .‫صنا َع الق ْومِ الكفِ ِريْ َن‬ ‫أقدامنا وان‬

َ ْ ُ ْ َ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ ّ َ َّ ً ْ َ َ ْ َ َ ْ ْ َ َ َّ َ ﴾ ﴿

    Our Lord, pour upon us patience, make our steps
‫صنا‬ ‫ ربنا أف ِرغ علينا صبا وث ِبت أقدامنا وان‬٣٣
firm and grant us victory over the disbelieving
َ ْ َْ َ
people. (2:250) .‫َع الق ْومِ الكفِ ِريْ َن‬

ْ ْ ْ َْ َ ْ ْ ُ ْ ّ َ

    My Lord, support me against the people who
spread corruption. (29:30)
.‫ن َع الق ْومِ ال ُمف ِس ِدي َن‬ِ ‫﴾ ر ِب انص‬٣٤﴿

َّ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ َّ َ ﴾ ﴿
َ ْ ‫الظالم‬

    Our Lord, do not let us join the wrongdoing
people. (7:47)

.‫ح ِتك ِم َن الق ْومِ الكفِ ِريْ َن‬
oppressors. Save us, through Your mercy, from
the disbelieving people. (10:85-6) ‫بِر‬

َ ْ َ َ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ َّ َ َ َ ْ َ َ َ َّ َ ﴾ ﴿
ُ ْ ‫ك ال ْ َمص‬

    Our Lord, in You Alone we trust, and to You
.‫ي‬ ِ ‫ ربنا عليك توكنا وإِلك أنبنا وإِل‬٣٧
Alone we turn, and to You is the ultimate return.
ََ ْ ْ َ ْ ُ َ َ َ ْ َّ ّ ً َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ َّ َ
Our Lord, do not let us be persecuted by those ‫لين كفروا واغ ِفر لا‬ ِ ‫ربنا ل تعلنا فِتنة ِل‬
who disbelieve, and forgive us, our Lord. Indeed
ْ
.‫كي ُم‬
ْ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َّ َ َّ َ
You, and only You, are the All-Mighty, the All- ِ َ ‫ربنا ِإنك أنت الع ِزي ُز ال‬
Wise. (60:4-5)

38 (My Lord), indeed adversity has touched me, and َ ْ ‫اح‬


.‫ي‬ َّ ‫ت أَ ْر َح ُم‬
ِ ِ ‫الر‬
َ ْ ‫الض َوأَن‬
ُّ ُّ ‫ن‬
َ ‫ن َم َّس‬
َ َ
ْ ّ ‫(ر ّب) أ‬
ِ ِ ِ ﴾٣٨﴿
   

you are the Most Merciful of the merciful. (21:83)

َ ْ ‫ال ْرض أَن‬ َْ َ ٰ َّ َ ِ َ‫﴾ (اَللّٰ ُه َّم يَا) ف‬٣٩﴿

    (O Allah), Originator of the heavens and the
‫ت‬ ِ ‫ات َو‬ ِ ‫اطر السمو‬
earth, You are my Protector in this world and in ْ َ َّ ً ْ ُ ْ َّ َ َ َ ْ َ َ ْ ُّ
ْ ‫ل ْق‬
‫ن‬ ْ ّ ‫َو ِل‬
ِ ‫ـي ِف ادلنيا وال ِخر ِة توف ِن مس ِلما وأ‬
ِ
the Hereafter. Make me die a Muslim and join me
ِ
with the righteous. (12:101)
َ ْ ‫الصال‬
.‫ي‬ َّ ‫ب‬
ِِ ِ
Our Lord, accept from us. Indeed, You - and You
‫ب‬ ْ ُ‫ َوت‬.‫السميْ ُع الْ َعليْ ُم‬َّ ‫ت‬ َ ْ ‫ك أَن‬ َ َّ َّ ْ َّ َ َ َ َّ َ ﴾ ﴿
‫ ربنا تقبل ِمنا إِن‬٤٠
ِ ِ

َ ْ ‫ك أَن‬َ َّ َ ْ َ َ
alone - are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
And accept our repentance. Indeed, You - and ُ.‫الر ِحيْم‬
َّ ‫اب‬ ُ ‫اتل َّو‬
َّ ‫ت‬ ‫علينا إِن‬
You Alone - are the Acceptor of repentance, the
Very Merciful. (2:127-8)

best of my ability. I seek Your protection from the ، ‫ش ما صنعت‬ ِ ‫ أعوذ بِك ِمن‬، ‫ما استطعت‬
evil that I have done. I acknowledge the favours ْ‫اغ ِف ْر ل‬ ْ َ ْ ْ َ ُ ْ ُ َ َ َّ َ َ َ َ ْ َ َ ُ ْ ُ َ
ِ ‫ ف‬، ‫أبوء لك بِ ِنعم ِتك ع وأبوء بِذن ِب‬
َ ْ ‫اذلنُ ْو َب إ َّل أَن‬
that You have bestowed upon me, and I admit my
sins. Forgive me, for none forgives sins but You. ُّ ُ ْ َ َ ُ َّ َ

‫ اللهم أنت الم ِل‬٢

 2  O Allah, You are the King, there is no god worthy

ْ ‫ت بذن‬ َ ْ
ُ ‫تف‬ َ َ ‫اع‬ ْ َ
of worship except You. You are my Lord and I am
،‫ب‬ ‫ ظلمت نف ِس و‬، ‫وأنا عبدك‬
ِ ِ َ َ ْ ُُْ ْ ْ ْ َ
Your slave. I have wronged myself and I confess
ُ ُّ ْ َ ُ َّ
my sins. Forgive all of my sins; indeed no one ‫ ِإنه ل يغ ِف ُر اذلن ْو َب‬، ‫جيْ ًعا‬ ِ ‫ب‬ ِ ‫ف َّاغ َ ِفر ِل ذنو‬
ْ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ
ْ ْ ْ َ َ ْ
‫ن ِلح َس ِن الخل ِق ل يه ِد ْي‬
forgives sins except You. Guide me to the best of
character, for no one guides to the best of it except ِ ‫ واه ِد‬، ‫ِإل أنت‬
You; and turn the evil of it away from me, for no َ َ َ ّ َ ْ ّ َ ْ ْ َ َ ْ َ َّ َ َ ْ َ
one turns it away except You. Here I am at Your ‫اصف ع ِن س ِيئها ل‬ ِ ‫ و‬، ‫ِلحس ِنها ِإل أنت‬
service, seeking Your pleasure; all good is in Your َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ َّ َ َ ْ َ َّ َ َ ّ َ ْ ّ َ ُ ْ َ
، ‫ ليك وسعديك‬، ‫صف ع ِن س ِيئها ِإل أنت‬ ‫ي‬
hands and no evil is attributed to You. I am from
ََ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ ُّ َّ َ َ ْ َ َ ُ ُّ ُ ُ ْ َ ِ ْ َ
You and I am returning to You. You are Most
‫ أنا‬، ‫ والش ليس ِإلك‬، ‫ف يديك‬ ْ ِ ‫والي كه‬
Blessed and You are Most Exalted. I seek Your
ْ َ َ ْ‫ت َو َت َع َال‬ َ ‫ار ْك‬
َ َ‫ َتب‬، ‫ك‬ َ َْ َ َ
forgiveness and repent to You. (Muslim) ‫ أ ْستَغ ِف ُر َك‬، ‫ت‬ ‫بِك وإِل‬
َ َْ ُ ََُْ
.‫وأتوب ِإلك‬

ْ ِ‫س‬ َ ْ ‫ل َوإ‬ ْ ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ ْ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
‫اف‬ ِ ‫ت وج‬
‫ه‬ ِ ‫ الله َم اغ ِفر ِل َ خ ِطي َئ‬٣
 3  O Allah, forgive my mistakes, ignorance,

ِ
transgression in my matters, and what You ّٰ َ ْ ّ ‫ت أ ْعل ُم ب ِه ِم‬َ َ ْ ‫ َو َما أن‬، ‫ف أ ْمر ْي‬
are more Knowledgeable of than me. O Allah, ‫ الل ُه َّم‬، ‫ن‬ ِ ِ ِ
ْ ِ
َ ْ ‫ل َو َخ َط‬ ْ ‫ل ج ِّد ْي َو َه ْز‬ ْ
‫ئ َوع ْم ِد ْي‬ ْ ‫اغ ِف ْر‬
forgive me for what I did in earnestness and in
jest; unintentionally or intentionally; as I have ِ ِ ِ ِ
committed all of these (types of sins). O Allah, ُ‫ل َما قَ َّد ْمت‬ ْ ‫اغ ِف ْر‬ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ْ ْ َ ٰ ُّ ُ َ
ِ ‫ اللهم‬، ‫وك ذلِك ِعن ِدي‬
َْ ْ َ َ َ ُ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ ُ ْ َّ َ َ َ
forgive me for what I have already done, what I am
yet to do, what I did publicly, what I did privately, ُ
، ‫ وما أسرت وما أعلنت‬، ‫وما أخرت‬
ّ َ ْ َ َْ ْ ّ َ ْ َ َ َْ َ َ
and what You are more Knowledgeable of than
me. You are the One who brings forward and You ‫ت ال ُمق ِد ُم‬ ‫ أن‬، ‫ت أعل ُم بِ ِه ِم ِنـي‬ ‫وما أن‬
are the One who defers. You are All-Powerful
ٌ.‫ش ٍء قَ ِديْر‬ ْ َ ‫ك‬ ُّ ََ َ ََْ ُ ّ َ ُْ َ ََْ
over everything. (Muslim)
ِ ‫ع‬ ٰ ‫ وأنت‬، ‫وأنت المؤ ِخر‬

ُ ْ َ ْ ْ ُّ ُ ٌ ْ َ ٌّ ُ َ َ َّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
 4  O Allah, You are the Ever-Pardoning, the
‫ب ال َعف َو فاعف‬ ‫ت‬ِ ‫ اللهم ِإنك عفو ك ِريم‬٤
Generous; You love to pardon so pardon me.
(Tirmidhī) ْ ّ ‫َع‬
.‫ن‬ ِ
ْ ‫ َوأَ ْذه‬، ‫ب‬
ْ ْ‫ب َغيْ َظ قَل‬ ْ ْ ‫ل َذن‬ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
ْ ‫اغ ِف ْر‬
 5  O Allah, forgive my sins, remove the anger of my
، ‫ب‬ ِ ِ ِ ِ ‫ ﴾ اللهم‬٥ ﴿
heart and protect me from misleading trials.
َ ْ َّ ُ ْ ْ ْ َ َ
(Ibn al-Sunnī) .‫ت‬
ِ ِ ِ ‫وأ ِعذ ِن ِمن م ِض‬
‫ف‬ ‫ال‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ل‬

ُ َ ‫ َوأَ َّو‬، ‫ د َّق ُه َوجلَّ ُه‬، ‫ب ُكَّ ُه‬


‫ل‬ ْ ْ ‫ل َذن‬ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
ْ ‫اغ ِف ْر‬ ‫ ﴾ اللهم‬٦ ﴿
 6  O Allah, forgive for me all of my sins: the minor
ِ ِ ِ ِ
and major, the first and the last, the public and the َ
َّ ‫ َو َعلنِيَتَ ُه َو‬، ‫آخ َر ُه‬
private. (Muslim) .‫س ُه‬ ِ ِ ‫َو‬
76 77
َ ً ْ ‫س ُظلْ ًما َكث‬ ْ ِ ‫ت َن ْف‬ ْ ّ ِ ‫ ﴾ اَللّٰ ُه َّم إ‬٧ ﴿
ُ ‫ن َظلَ ْم‬
 7  O Allah, I have wronged myself greatly and no one ‫ َول‬، ‫يا‬ ِ ِ

forgives sins except You; so grant me forgiveness
ْ‫ل َم ْغف َر ًة ّمن‬ ْ ْ ْ َ َ ْ َ َّ َ ْ ُ ُّ ُ ْ َ
from You and have mercy upon me. You are the ِ ِ ِ ‫ َ فاغ ِفر‬، ‫يغ ِفر اذلنوب إِل أنت‬
Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful. (Bukhārī)
َّ ‫ت الْ َغ ُف ْو ُر‬
ُ.‫الر ِحيْم‬ َ ْ ‫ك أن‬
َ َّ ْ ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ
‫ إِن‬، ‫ وارح ِن‬، ‫ِعن ِدك‬

ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ ْ َ ْ َ ْ ْ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
ْ ‫اه ِد‬
 8  O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, grant me ‫ن‬ ِ ‫ و‬، ‫ين‬ ‫ وع ِف‬، ‫ وارح ِن‬، ‫ اللهم اغ ِفر ِل‬٨
ْ ْ‫ار ُزق‬
wellbeing, guide me and grant me sustenance.
.‫ن‬ ْ َ

ِ ‫و‬

َ ْ َ َ َ َ َ َ َ َ َ ْ َ َ ْ ْ َ ْ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ٩ ﴿
 9  O Allah, distance me from my sins as You have ‫اعدت‬ ‫اللهم با ِعد بي ِن وبي خطاياي كما ب‬
distanced the East from the West. O Allah, purify
ْ‫ن من‬ ّ َ ُ ّٰ َ ْ َْ ْ َْ ََْ
me from my sins as white cloth is purified from ِ ْ ِ ‫ الله َّم ن ِق‬، ‫ش ِق َوالمغ ِر ِب‬ ِ ‫بي الم‬
dirt. O Allah, wash away my sins with snow, water َ َّ َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ ُ ْ َّ َّ َ ُ َ َ َ َ َ َ
and ice. (Muslim) ، ‫خطاياي كما ينق اثلوب البيض ِمن ادلن ِس‬
ْ ْ ْ ْ‫اغ ِسل‬
َ َ‫ن ِم ْن َخ َطاي‬ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
‫اي بِاثلَّل ِج َوال َما ِء‬ ِ ‫اللهم‬
َ َ ْ ‫َوال‬
.‫ب ِد‬

َ ْ ُ ْ َ َ ْ ْ ُ ْ ْ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ

    O Allah, forgive the believing men and the
.‫ات‬
ِ ‫﴾ اللهم اغ ِفر لِلمؤ ِم ِني والمؤ ِمن‬١٠﴿
believing women. ( abarānī)

78 79
َّ َ ُّ َ َّ ً ْ َ ُ َ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
O Allah, I beg you for faith which does not waver, ‫ َون ِعيْ ًما ل‬، ‫إن أ ْسألك إِي َمانا ل يَ ْرتد‬ِ ‫﴾ اللهم‬١١﴿

blessings which do not cease, and the company of ْ ُ ْ َّ َ َ ْ َ ْ َّ َ ُ َ ّ َ َ َ َ َ ُ َ ُ َ ْ َ


our Prophet Mu ammad  in the loftiest abode .‫ل‬
ِ ‫ع جن ِة ال‬ ٰ ‫ ومرافقة ن ِب ِينا مم ٍد ِف أ‬، ‫ينفد‬
of the Eternal Garden. (Ibn ibbān)

َّ ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ ُ َ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
.‫ن أ ْسألك ال ِف ْرد ْو َس أع الَن ِة‬
O Allah, I beg you for al-Firdaws, the loftiest
ِ ‫ اللهم ِإ‬١٢

abode of Paradise. (Tirmidhī)

O Allah, Lord of Jibrā’īl and Mīkā’īl, and the Lord َ ْ َ ْ َّ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ َّ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ


، ‫جبا ِئيل و ِميك ِئيل ورب إِسا ِفيل‬
ِ ‫﴾ اللهم رب‬١٣﴿

ْ ‫َ ُ ْ ُ َ َ َ ّ َّ َوم ْن َع َذاب الْ َق‬


of Isrāfīl, I seek Your protection from the heat
of the Hell-fire and from the punishment of the
grave. (Nasā’ī)
.‫ب‬ِ ِ ِ ، ‫ار‬
ِ ‫أعوذ بِك ِمن ح ِر انل‬

َّ َ َ ْ َ ُ ْ ُ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
‫ َو ِم ْن‬، ‫اب َج َهن َم‬
O Allah, I seek Your protection from the
ِ ‫﴾ اللهم إِ ِن أعوذ بِك ِمن عذ‬١٤﴿

punishment of the Hell-fire, and from the


، ‫ات‬
َ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ ْ َ ْ ‫َع َذاب الْ َق‬
punishment of the grave, and from the trials of life
ِ ‫ و ِمن فِتن ِة المحيا والمم‬، ‫ب‬ ِ ِ
and death, and from the evil of the tribulation of
َّ َّ ْ َ ْ َْ ّ َ ْ َ
Dajjāl, the false Messiah. (Muslim) .‫ال‬
ِ ‫ش فِتن ِة الم ِسي ِح ادلج‬
ِ ‫و ِمن‬

ْ ْ ُّ ْ ْ َ ُ ْ ُ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
ِ‫ادلنيَا َو ِضي ِق يَ ْوم‬
O Allah, I seek Your protection from the anguish
‫﴾ اللهم ِإ ِن أعوذ بِك ِمن ِضي ِق‬١٥﴿

of the world and the anguish of the Day of


Judgement. (Abū Dāwūd) َ َ‫الْقي‬
.‫ام ِة‬ ِ

80 81
َ ََْ
‫ َو َعزائِ َم‬، ‫ح ِتك‬ ‫ات ر‬ َ ْ ُ َ ُ َ ْ َ َّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
O Allah, we beg You for all that which will
ِ ‫﴾ اللهم إنا نسألك مو ِجب‬١٦﴿

َ َْ ْ ّ ُ ْ َ َ َ َّ َ َ َ ْ َ
‫ َوالغ ِنيْ َمة ِم ْن‬، ‫ك إِث ٍم‬
necessitate Your mercy and the determination to
do all that which will necessitate Your forgiveness;
ِ ‫ والسلمة ِمن‬، ‫مغ ِفرتِك‬
for protection from every sin and accomplishment
َّ َ َ َ َّ َ َّ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ ّ ّ ُ
of every good; for attainment of Paradise and for ِ ‫ وانلجاة ِمن انل‬، ‫ والفوز بِالن ِة‬، ‫ك بِ ٍر‬
.‫ار‬ ِ
freedom from Hell-fire. ( ākim)

O Allah, grant me an easy reckoning. (A mad)


.‫يا‬ ْ ْ‫اسب‬
ً ْ ‫ن ِح َسابًا يَّس‬ َ ‫﴾ اَللّٰ ُه َّم‬١٧﴿
‫ح‬
ِ ِ

َ ََْ َ َ َََ ْ َ ْ ّٰ َ
18
    O Allah, grant us Your blessings, Your mercy,
‫ح ِتك‬ ‫﴾ الل ُه َّم اب ُس ْط َعليْنَا ِمن بركتِك ور‬١٨﴿
َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ َّٰ َ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ َ
Your grace and Your sustenance in abundance.
O Allah, I beg you for eternal blessings which do ‫انل ِعيْ َم‬َّ ‫ك‬ ‫ اللهم ِإ ِن أسأل‬، ‫وفض ِلك و ِرز ِقك‬
not change nor disappear. O Allah, I beg you for ّْ َّ ُ َّٰ َ ُ ْ ُ َ َ َ ُ ْ ُ َ َ ْ َّ َ ْ ُ ْ
blessings on the day of intense need and safety on ‫ اللهم ِإ ِن‬، ‫الي ل يول ول يزول‬ ِ ‫الم ِقيم‬
the day of fear (i.e. Day of Judgement). O Allah, ْْ َ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ َّ َ ُ َ ْ َ
I seek Your protection from the evil of what You ،‫ف‬ ِ ‫ والمن يوم الو‬، ‫أسألك انل ِعيم يوم العيل ِة‬
have granted us and the evil of what You have
‫ش‬ ّ َ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ّ َ ‫ك ِم ْن‬ َ ٌ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
withheld from us. O Allah, endear faith to us and ِ ‫ش ما ْأعطيتنا و‬ ِ ِ‫اللهم ِإ ِن عئِذ ب‬
ُْ َ ْ َ
َ ْ ْ ّ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ َ َ ْ َ َ َ
‫الي َمان َو َز ِّينه‬
beautify it in our hearts. Make disbelief, sins and
disobedience hateful to us, and make us of the ِ ‫ اللهم ح ِبب ِإلنا‬، ‫ما منعتنا‬
َ ُْ ْ ُ ْ َ َ ُُ ْ
rightly guided ones. O Allah, grant us death as
‫ َوك ِّرهْ ِإلْنَا الكف َر َوالف ُس ْوق‬، ‫ف قل ْوبِنَا‬ ِ
Muslims, make us live as Muslims and join us with
َّ‫ اَللّٰ ُهم‬، ‫الراشد ْي َن‬ َّ َ َ َْ ْ َ َ َ ْ ْ َ
the righteous without being humiliated or tested. ِ ِ ‫ واجعلنا ِمن‬، ‫وال ِعصيان‬
O Allah, fight the disbelievers who reject Your َْ ْ َ َ َ ْ ْ ُ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ ْ ُ َ َّ َ َ
Messengers and avert from Your path. Inflict ‫لقنا‬ ِ ‫ وأ‬، ‫ وأح ِينا مس ِل ِمي‬، ‫توفنا مس ِل ِمي‬
82 83
ّٰ َ َ ْ ْ ُ ْ َ َ َ َ َ َ َ ْ َ َ ْ َّ ‫ب‬
upon them your punishment and vengeance. O ‫ الل ُه َّم‬، ‫ي‬ ‫ غي خزايا ول مفتو ِن‬، ‫الصا ِل ِحي‬ ِ

Allah, fight the disbelievers of the People of the
َ َ ُ ُ َ ْ ُ ّ َ ُ َ ْ َّ َ َ َ َ ْ َ
Book, O the True God. (A mad) ، ‫الين يك ِذبون رسلك‬ ِ ‫قاتِ ِل الكفرة‬
َ‫ج َزك‬ ْ ْ ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ ُّ ُ َ َ
‫ واجعل علي ِهم ِر‬، ‫ويصدون عن س ِبي ِلك‬
ُ ْ ُ َ ْ َّ َ َ َ َ ْ َ ُ ّٰ َ َ َ َ َ
‫الين أوتوا‬ ِ ‫ الله َّم قاتِ ِل الكفرة‬، ‫َوعذابك‬
ْ َٰ َ َ ْ
.‫ل ال َ ِّق‬ ِ‫ إ‬، ‫كتاب‬ ِ ‫ال‬
O Allah, grant me the best of what You grant َ ْ ‫الصال‬ َ َ ْ ْ ُ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
َّ ‫اد َك‬
19
   

Your righteous slaves. (Ibn ibbān)


.‫ي‬ ِِ ‫ اللهم آتِ ِني أفضل ما تؤ ِت ِعب‬١٩
َ َ َ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
ْ ِ ‫اد ًة‬

    O Allah, I beg you for martyrdom in Your path.
(Muslim)
.‫ف َس ِبيْ ِلك‬ ‫ اللهم ِإ ِن أسألك شه‬٢٠
ً ً ً َّ ً َ ْ َ ُ َ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ

    O Allah, I beg you for a pure life, a good death, and
،‫ َو ِميْتَة َس ِو َّية‬، ‫ن أ ْسألك ِعيشة ن ِق َّية‬ ِ ‫﴾ اللهم ِإ‬٢١﴿
َ َ َ ْ ُ َ ْ َ ًّ َ َ َ
a return (to You) which is neither humiliating nor
disgraceful. ( abarānī) .‫اض ٍح‬
ِ ‫ومردا غي م ٍز ول ف‬
َ ُ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ َ ُ ْ ُّ َ َ َ َ
22 O The Ever-Living, The One who sustains and ْ ‫ أ ْص ِل ْح‬، ‫ث‬
‫ل‬ ‫ بِرح ِتك أست ِغي‬، ‫ح يا قيوم‬ ُّ ‫﴾ يا‬٢٢﴿
ِ
   

ْ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ ْ َ ٰ ْ ْ َ َ ُ َّ ُ ْ ْ َ
َ َ
protects all that exists; I seek assistance through
Your mercy. Rectify all of my affairs and do not
entrust me to myself for the blink of an eye. (Nasā’ī)
.‫ي‬ ٍ ‫كل ِن إِل نف ِس طرفة ع‬ ِ ‫ ول ت‬، ‫شأ ِن كه‬
O Allah, keep faith rejuvenated in my heart. ْ ْ‫ف قَل‬ َ َ ْ ْ ّ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
ْ ِ ‫ان‬

‫ اللهم‬٢٤
O Allah, safeguard me with Islam whilst I am ، ِ ِ ِ

standing. Safeguard me with Islam whilst I am

sitting. Safeguard me with Islam whilst I am ، ‫السلمِ راقِدا‬ ِ ِ ِ ‫ واحفظ‬، ‫السلمِ قا ِعدا‬ ِ ِ
sleeping, and do not let an enemy or envier gloat
ْ‫ اَللَّٰ ُه َّم إ ّن‬، ‫اس ًدا‬ َ‫ب َع ُد ًّوا َّو َل ح‬َ ‫َو َل تش ِمت‬
ْ ْ ُ
over my misery. O Allah, I beg You for all good, ِِ ِ ِ
the treasures of which are in Your Hand. I seek َ ُ ْ ُ ََ َ َ ُ ُ َ َ ْ َ ُّ ْ َ َُ ْ َ
Your protection from all evil, the treasures of ‫ وأعوذ بِك‬، ‫ي خزائِنه بِي ِدك‬ ٍ ‫كخ‬ ِ ‫أسألك ِمن‬
which are in Your Hand. ( ākim) َ.‫ش َخ َزائنُ ُه بيَدك‬ ّ َ ّ ُ ‫ِم ْن‬
ِ ِ ِ ٍ ‫ك‬ ِ

O Allah, Turner of hearts, make my heart firm َ ََٰ ‫ب‬


.‫ع ِدي ْ ِنك‬ ْ ‫ب الْ ُقلُ ْوب ثَ ّب‬
ْ ْ‫ت قَل‬ َ ّ‫﴾ يَا ُم َقل‬٢٥﴿

upon Your religion. (Tirmidhī) ِ ِ ِ ِ

ُ ّْ َ
ٰ َ َ ‫صف قُل ْو َبنَا‬
‫ع‬ ْ ُ ُ ْ َ ّ َ ‫﴾ اَللّٰ ُه َّم ُم‬٢٦﴿
ِ ‫صف القلو ِب‬
26 O Allah, Changer of hearts, direct our hearts to
ِ
   

Your obedience. (Muslim)


َ َ َ
.‫اع ِتك‬ ‫ط‬

O Guardian of Islam and its followers, keep me َ ‫ت أَلْ َق‬


.‫اك‬ ٰ َّ ‫ن بِ ِه َح‬
َ
ْ ْ‫ ثَبّت‬، ‫﴾ يَا َو َّل ْال ْس َلمِ َوأ ْه ِل ِه‬٢٧﴿
ِ ِ

ِ
   

firm on it (Islam) until I meet You. ( abarānī)

َ َ ُّ ْ ُ ُ ْ َ‫حس ْن َعقبَتَن‬ْ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
28
    O Allah, grant us the best outcome in all of our
‫ َوأ ِج ْرنا‬، ‫ك َها‬
ِ ِ ‫ر‬ ‫و‬ ‫م‬ ‫ال‬ ‫ف‬ِ ‫ا‬ ِ ِ ‫ اللهم أ‬٢٨
affairs, and protect us from the humiliation of this ْ َ ْ
َ َ َ ُّ ْ ْ
world and the punishment of the hereafter. (A mad) .‫اب ال ِخ َر ِة‬
ِ ‫ِمن ِخز ِي ادلنيا وعذ‬
86 87
َ ْ َْْ َ َ ُ َ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
O Allah, I beg you for steadfastness in all matters ‫ َوال َع ِزيْ َمة‬، ‫ن أ ْسألك اثلَّبَات ِف الم ِر‬ ِ ِ‫ اللهم إ‬٢٩

‫ َو َع َزائِ َم‬، ‫ح ِتك‬
and the determination to take the right course. I
ask You for all that which will necessitate Your ‫ات ر‬ِ ‫ وأسألك مو ِجب‬، ‫ع الرش ِد‬
َ ْ ْ ُ َ َُ َ َ ْ
‫ َو ُح ْس َن‬، ‫ َوأ ْسألك شك َر نِع َم ِتك‬، ‫َمغ ِف َرتِك‬
mercy and the determination to do all that which
will necessitate Your forgiveness. I ask You
to make me grateful for Your blessings and to ً َ ً َ َ ًَ ْ َ ً ْ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ َ َ َ
، ‫ ولِسانا صا ِدقا‬، ‫ وأسألك قلبا س ِليما‬، ‫عبادتِك‬ ِ
َ ُ ْ ُ ََ ُ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َُ ْ ََ
worship You in an excellent manner. I ask You
for a sound heart and a truthful tongue. I ask ّ‫ك ِم ْن َش‬
ِ ِ‫ وأعوذ ب‬، ‫ي ما تعلم‬ ِ ‫وأسألك ِمن خ‬
ُ‫ت َع َّلم‬ َ ْ ‫ك أَن‬َ َّ ُ َ ْ َ َ َ ُ ْ َ ْ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ
You for the good of what You know, I seek Your
protection from the evil of what You know, and I ‫ إِن‬، ‫ وأستغ ِفرك لِما تعلم‬، ‫ما تعلم‬
seek Your forgiveness for what You know. Indeed,
ُْ
You are the All-Knowing of the unseen. (A mad) .‫الغيُ ْو ِب‬

ْ ْ ُّ َ ْ َ ُ َ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ

    O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world
، ‫ادلنيَا َوال ِخ َر ِة‬ ‫ن أ ْسألك ال َعا ِفيَة ِف‬ ِ ِ‫﴾ اللهم إ‬٣٠﴿
and the next. O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness
ْ ْ َ َ
َ ْ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
ُ ّ
and well-being in my religion, in my worldly ‫ن‬ْ ْ ‫ف ِدي‬ ْ ِ ‫ك ال َع ْف َو َوال َعا ِفيَ َة‬ ‫اللهم إِ ِن أسأل‬
ِ َ َ ََُْ
ّٰ َ
ْ ‫اي َوأ ْه‬
affairs, in my family and in my wealth. O Allah,
َ ْ
ْ ‫ اللهم است عور‬، ‫ل ومال‬َ ْ ُ ْ َّ ُ ْ َ َ
conceal my faults and assuage my fears. O Allah, ‫ات‬ ِ ِ ِ ‫ودني‬
guard me from in front of me and behind me, from
َّ َ َ ْ َ ْ ْ ْ َ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ
my right, and from my left, and from above me. ، ‫ـي يدي‬ ِ ‫ اللهم احفظ ِن ِمن ب‬، ‫وآ ِمن روع ِت‬
I seek protection in Your greatness from being ْ‫ َومن‬، ‫ال‬
ِ ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ ْ‫ َو َع ْن يَّمي‬، ‫ف‬
ِ ‫ و ُعن ِشم‬، َ ‫ن‬ ِ ْ ِ ْ‫َو ِم ْن َخل‬
unexpectedly destroyed from beneath me. (Abū ِ
Dāwūd) ْ. ‫ال ِم ْن َتْت‬ َ َْ ْ َ َ َ َ ُْ ُ ََ ْ َْ
ِ ‫ وأ عوذ بِعظم ِتك أن أ غت‬، ‫فو ِق‬

88 89
ْ ُ ْ‫صن َو َل َتن‬ َ
My Lord, help me and do not help others against ‫ص‬ ْ ُ ْ ‫ َوان‬، ‫ع‬ َّ َ َ ‫ن َو َل تُ ِع ْن‬ ْ ّ ‫﴾ َر ّب أ ِع‬٣١﴿

me. Grant me victory and do not grant victory to

others over me. Plan in my favour and do not plan ‫س‬ِ ِ ‫ واه ِد ِن وي‬، ‫ وامكر ِل ول تمكر ع‬، ‫ْع‬
for others against me. Guide me and ease guidance ّ
‫ َر ِب‬، ‫ع‬ َّ َ َ ‫غ‬ ٰ َ ‫ع َم ْن َب‬ ََٰ ‫ن‬ ْ ‫ص‬ ْ ُ ْ ‫ َوان‬، ‫ل‬ ْ ‫ى‬
ِ ٰ ‫الهد‬
َ ُ
for me. Help me against those who oppress me. My ِ
َ َ َّ َ َ َّ َ َ َ َّ َ َ َ ْ ْ َ ْ
Lord, make me one who is extremely grateful to
‫ لك‬، ‫ لك َرهابًا‬، ‫ لك ذك ًرا‬، ‫ن لك شك ًرا‬ ِ ‫اجعل‬
ً َّ َ َ ْ َ ً ْ ُ َ َ ً َ ْ
You, who remembers you always, who perpetually
ّ َ ، ‫اها ُمنيْبًا‬
fears You, who is fully obedient to You, who is ‫ر ِب‬ ِ َ ‫ إِلك أو‬، ‫ لك م ِبتا‬، ‫ِمطواع‬
humble before You, who constantly cries and pleads
ْ، ‫ب َد ْع َوت‬ ْ ‫ َوأج‬، ‫ت‬ ْ ‫اغ ِس ْل َح ْو َب‬ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َّ َ َ
with You, and who repeatedly turns to You in ِ ْ ِ ِ ‫ و‬، ‫تقبل توب ِت‬
repentance. My Lord, accept my repentance, wash َ
ْ ‫ َواه ِد قل‬، ‫ان‬ ْ ْ
ْ ‫ َو َس ِدد ل ِ َس‬، ‫ت‬ ّ ْ ‫ت ُح َّج‬ ْ ‫َوثَ ّب‬
، ‫ب‬ ِ ِ ِ
away my sins, accept my supplications, strengthen ِ
ْ.‫اسلُ ْل َسخيْ َم َة َص ْدري‬ ْ ‫َو‬
my case, rectify my speech, guide my heart, and
remove the malice from my heart. (Tirmidhī) ِ ِ

َ َ ْ ُ ْ َ َ ْ ّ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
32
    O Allah, help me in remembering You, in being
grateful to You, and in worshipping You in an
.‫ع ِذك ِر َك َوشك ِر َك َو ُح ْس ِن ِعبَادتِك‬
ٰ ‫﴾ اللهم أ ِع ِن‬٣٢﴿
excellent manner. (Abū Dāwūd)
َ َ ْ َْ َ ْ َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
33
    O Allah, I beg You to enable me to do good deeds, ‫ َو ت ْر َك‬، ‫ات‬ َِ ‫ن أ سأ لك فِعل الي‬ ِ ِ‫﴾ ا للهم إ‬٣٣﴿
abstain from evil acts, and love the poor; and that َْ ْ ْ
ْ َ َ َّ ُ َ َ َ ْ ُْ
You forgive me and have mercy upon me. When ‫ َوأ ن تغ ِف َر‬، ‫ي‬ ِ ‫ وحب َ المسا ِك‬، ‫ات‬ ِ ‫المنكر‬
You intend to test a people, then grant me death
‫ن‬ ْ ‫ت ِفتْنَ َة قَ ْو مٍ َفتَ َو َّف‬ َ َْ َ َ ْ ََ ََْ ْ
‫ و إِ ذ ا أ رد‬، ‫ِل و ترح ِن‬
ِ
َ َُ َ
without being tested. I ask You for Your love,
َ ْ َْ َ
the love of those whom You love, and the love
‫ َوحب م ْن‬، ‫ َوأ ْسأ لك حبك‬، ‫ي َمفتُ ْو ٍن‬
َ َّ ُ َّ ُ ‫غ‬
of deeds which will bring me closer to Your love.
َ ّ ُ ٰ َ ْ ُ ّ َ ُّ َ َ َّ ُ َ َ ُّ ُّ
(Tirmidhī) . ‫ وحب عم ٍل يق ِر ب ِن إِ ل ح ِبك‬، ‫يبك‬ ِ
90 91
ُ ْ ‫ب َم ْن َّينْ َف ُع‬ َ َّ ُ ْ ْ ُ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
O Allah, grant me Your love and the love of those ‫ن ُح ُّبه‬ َّ ‫ َو ُح‬، ‫ك‬ ‫ اللهم ارزقـن حب‬٣٤

ُْ َ ْ َ ِ ُّ ُ َّ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ َّ ِ ُ ّٰ َ َ َ ْ
   

whose love will benefit me with You. O Allah,


whatever You have provided me of the things that ‫ اللهم ما رزقت ِن ِمما أ ِحب فاجعله‬، ‫ِعندك‬
ْ ّ ‫ت َع‬ َ ْ‫ اَللّٰ ُه َّم َما َز َوي‬، ‫ب‬ ُّ ‫ل فيْ َما ُت‬ ّ ً َّ ُ
‫ن ِم َّما‬ ِ ْ ِ ‫ُقوة‬
I love, make them a source of strength for me in
pursuing what You love. O Allah, whatever you have ِ ِ
ُّ ‫ل فيْ َما ُت‬ ّ ً َ ُ ْ َ ْ َ ُّ
withheld from me from what I love, make its absence
a means for me to pursue what You love. (Tirmidhī)
.‫ب‬ ِ ِ ْ ِ ‫أ ِحب فاجعله ف َراغ‬
ْ ْ َ َ ُْ َ ْ‫ك الْ َغي‬
َ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
35
    O Allah, with Your knowledge of the unseen and
، ‫ َوقد َرتِك َع الَل ِق‬، ‫ب‬ ‫ اللهم بِ ِعل ِم‬٣٥
Your absolute power over the creation, let me live
َ ْ َّ َ َ َ ْ ّ ً ْ َ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ ْ َ
in this world as long as You know my living is ‫ وتوف ِن إِذا‬، ‫أح ِي ِن ما ع ِلمت الياة خيا ِل‬
َ ُ َ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ْ ّ ً ْ َ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ
‫ن أ ْسألك‬
good for me; and give me death when You know
death is better for me. O Allah, I ask You for Your ِ ِ‫ اللهم إ‬، ‫ع ِلمت الوفاة خيا ِل‬
َ َ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ َ َ َّ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ
‫خشيَتَك ِف الغي‬
fear in private and in public, and for the word
‫كمة‬ ِ ‫ َ وأسألك‬، ‫اد ِة‬ ‫ب والشه‬ ِ
ْ َْ َ ُ َ َْ ْ
of truth in times of joy and anger. I ask You for
moderation in wealth and in poverty. I ask You ‫ َوأ ْسألك القص َد ِف‬، ‫ب‬ ِ ‫الر َضا َوالغ َض‬
ِ
ّ ‫ال َ ّق ف‬
ِ ِ
َ َُ َ َ ْ َ َّ ْ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ ٰ َ ْ
‫ َوأ ْسألك‬، ‫ َوأسألك ن ِعي ًما ل ينف ُد‬، ‫ن َوالفق ِر‬
for endless blessings and perpetual delights. I ask
You to make me pleased with destiny; for a cool ‫ال ِغ‬
and comfortable life after death; for the pleasure َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ّ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ َّ ْ َ َ َّ ُ
،‫الرضا بعد القضا ِء‬ ِ ْ ‫ وأسألك‬، ‫ي ل تنقْ ِطع‬ ٍ ‫قرة ع‬
َ َّ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ َ َُ ْ ََ
of beholding Your Countenance; and for the
ْ َ َ
longing to meet You, without any painful ordeals
‫ وأسألك لة‬، ‫وأسألك برد العي ِش بعد المو ِت‬
ْ َ ْ َ َ ٰ َ َ ْ َّ َ َ ْ َ ٰ َ َ َّ
and tribulations that misguide. O Allah, adorn us
‫ي‬ِ ‫ ِف غ‬، ‫ والشوق َّ ِإل َ ِل ّٰقائِك‬، ‫انلظ ِر ِإل وج ِه َك‬
with the beauty of faith, and make us those who
َّ ْ
‫ الل ُه َّم َز ِّينا بِ ِزيْنَ ِة‬، ‫ َول فِتنَ ٍة ُّم ِضل ٍة‬، ‫ض ٍة‬ َّ ‫اء ُم‬
ِ َ ‫ض‬
َّ َ
guide others and are guided themselves. (Nasā’ī)

ْ ْ ً ُ ْ ْ
.‫ َواج َعلنَا ه َداة ُّمهتَ ِدي َن‬، ‫ان‬ َْ ْ
ِ ‫اليم‬ ِ
92 93
َ َ ّ ُ ْ َ ْ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
ْ
O Allah, I beg You for all good: the immediate ، ‫آج ِل ِه‬ ِ ‫ي‬
ِ ‫ك ِه ع ِج ِل ِه و‬ ِ ‫﴾ اللهم إِ ِن أسألك ِمن ال‬٣٦﴿

‫ َوأ ُع ْوذ بِك ِم َن‬، ‫ت ِمنه َو َما ل ْم أعل ْم‬
and the delayed, what I know of and what I do
not know. I seek Your protection from all evil: ‫ما ع ِلم‬
َ‫ت منْ ُه َوما‬ ُ ‫ َما َعل ْم‬، ‫الش ُكّه َعجله َوآجله‬ َّ
ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ِّ
the immediate and the delayed, what I know of
and what I do not know. O Allah, I beg You for ِ ِ
َ ََ ْ َ ْ َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ
‫ي َما َسألك‬
the good which Your slave and Prophet  asked
ِ ‫ اللهم إِ ِن أسألك ِمن خ‬، ‫لم أعلم‬
َ َ َ ّ َ ْ َ ُ ْ ُ َ َ َ ُّ َ َ َ ُ ْ َ
from You, and I seek Your protection from the
evil which Your slave and Prophet  sought
‫ش ما عذ‬ ِ ‫ وأعوذ بِك ِمن‬، ‫عبدك ون ِبيك‬
َ َّ َ ْ َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ َ ُّ َ َ َ ُ ْ َ ُ ْ
protection for from You. O Allah, I beg You for
Paradise, and whatever words or actions lead ، ‫ اللهم إِ ِن أسألك النة‬، ‫ِمنه عبدك ون ِبيك‬
to it. I seek Your protection from Hell-fire, and
َ ُ َ َ َ َ َ َ
whatever words or actions lead to it. I ask You to ‫ َوأ ُع ْوذ بِك‬، ‫َو َما ق َّر َب إِلْ َها ِم ْن ق ْو ٍل أ ْو ع َم ٍل‬
decree good for me in everything you foreordain
َ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َّ َ َ َ
، ‫ وما قرب إِلها ِمن قو ٍل أو عم ٍل‬، ‫ار‬
َّ ‫ِم َن‬
‫انل‬
for me. (A mad) ِ
ً ْ ‫ل َخ‬ ْ ‫ك قَ َضا ٍء قَ َضيْتَ ُه‬َّ ُ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ
.‫يا‬ ِ ‫وأسألك أن تعل‬

    O Allah, I beg You for the best of what can be asked َ ُّ ‫ي‬
، ‫ادلع ِء‬
َ ْ ‫ َو َخ‬، ‫ي ال ْ َم ْسأَلَ ِة‬ َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
َ ْ ‫ك َخ‬ ‫ اللهم ِإ ِن أسأل‬٣٧
for, the best supplication, the ultimate success, the
َ َّ َ ْ َ َ ْ
َ َ َْ َ َ ِ ‫ج‬ َ ‫انل‬
َّ ‫ي‬ َ ْ ‫َو َخ‬
best deeds, the best reward, the best life, and the ، ‫اب‬ ِ ‫ وخي اثلو‬، ‫ وخي العم ِل‬، ‫اح‬
best death. Keep me steadfast, make my scales ْ َّ ْ ََّْ
‫ َوث ِقل‬، ‫ن‬ َ َْ َْ َ َ َ ْ َْ َ َ
heavy, establish my belief, elevate my ranks, accept
ِ ‫ وث ِبت‬، ‫ات‬ ِ ‫ وخي المم‬، ‫وخي الَيا ِة‬
my alāh, forgive my sins and I ask You for lofty
، ‫ات‬ ْ ‫ار َف ْع َد َر َج‬ ْ ‫ َو‬، ‫ان‬ ْ ‫ َو َح ِّق ْق إ ْي َم‬، ‫ن‬ ْ ْ‫َم َوازي‬
ranks in Paradise. O Allah, I beg you for good َِ َ ِ ِ ِ ِ
beginnings, good endings, good in its entirety, its َ ُ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ َّ َ َ َ
first, its apparent and its hidden; and lofty ranks ‫ وأسألك‬، ‫ واغ ِفر خ ِطيئ ِت‬، ‫وتقبل صل ِت‬

94 95
َ ُ َ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ َّ َ ْ َ َ ُ ْ
in Paradise. Āmīn. O Allah, I beg you for the best ‫ن أ ْسألك‬ ِ ‫ اللهم إ‬، ‫ات العل ِمن الن ِة‬

of what I can do, perform and accomplish, the best
of what is hidden or apparent; and lofty ranks in ، ‫ وأول‬، ‫ وجوا ِمعه‬، ‫ وخواتِمه‬، ‫ي‬ ِ ‫فواتِح‬
Paradise. Āmīn. O Allah, I beg you to elevate my َّ َ ْ َ َ ُ ْ َ َ َّ َ َُ ََ َُ ََ
mention, remove my burden, rectify my affairs, ‫ات العل ِمن الن ِة‬ ِ ‫ وادلرج‬، ‫اطنه‬ ِ ‫ وب‬، ‫وظا ِهره‬
purify my heart, protect my chastity, enlighten my َ‫ي ما‬ َ ْ ‫ َو َخ‬، ‫آت‬ ْ ‫ي َما‬ َ ْ ‫ك َخ‬ َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ْ
ِ ‫ اللهم إِ ِن أسأل‬، ‫آ ِمي‬
َ ْ ‫ َو َخ‬، ‫ي َما أَ ْع َم ُل‬ َ ْ ‫ َو َخ‬، ‫أَ ْف َع ُل‬
heart, forgive my sins and I ask You for lofty ranks
in Paradise. Āmīn. O Allah, I beg you to bless for َ‫ي ما‬ َ ْ ‫ َو َخ‬، ‫ي َما َب َط َن‬
me my inner self, my hearing, my sight, my soul,
ّٰ َ ْ َّ ْ َ ْ َ َ َّ َ َ َ
my appearance, my character, my family, my life, ‫ الل ُه َّم‬، ‫ات ال ُعل ِم َن الَن ِة آ ِمي‬ ِ ‫ وادلرج‬، ‫ظه َر‬
ْ ْ َ َ َ َ ْ ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َُ ْ َ ّْ
my death and my deeds. Accept my good deeds
and I ask You for lofty ranks in Paradise. Āmīn. ، ‫ وتضع ِوز ِري‬، ‫إن أسألك أن ترفع ِذك ِري‬ ِ

ْ َ َ ّ َُ َ ْ َْ َ ّ َ َُ ْ َْ َ ْ َُ
،‫ج‬ ْ ِ ‫ وت ِصن فر‬، ‫ وتط ِهر قل ِب‬، ‫وتص ِلح أم ِري‬

‫ وأسألك‬، ‫ وتغ ِفر ِل ذن ِب‬، ‫وتن ِور ِل قل ِب‬
ْ ّ ‫ اَللّٰ ُه َّم‬، ‫ال َ َّن ِة آ ِم ْي‬ ْ َ َ ْ َ َ َّ

The definition of Āmīn ( ) is:
‘O Allah, accept my du‘ā’.’ ‫إن‬ ِ ِ ‫ادلرج‬
ْ ‫ َو‬، ‫ع‬ ْ ‫ف َس ْم‬ ْ ‫ َو‬، ‫س‬ ْ ِ ‫ف َن ْف‬ ْ ِ‫ل‬ ْ ‫أن ُتبَار َك‬ ْ َ َُ ْ َ

‘Āmīn is the seal of the Lord of the

worlds, it is with it that His servants seal ِ َ ْ ِ َ َ ِ ِ
their du‘ā’.’ َ‫ادل َر َجات ال ُعل ِمن‬ َّ ‫ك‬ َ ُ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ َّ َ َ َ
ِ ‫ وأسأل‬، ‫فتقبل حسن ِات‬

O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my ًُْ َ

ْ‫ َو ِم ْن فَ ْوق‬، ‫ف بَ َص ْي نُ ْو ًرا‬ ْ ‫ َو‬، ‫ع نُ ْو ًرا‬ْ ‫ف َس ْم‬


tongue, light in my hearing and light in my sight.
ْ ‫َو‬
Place light above me, light beneath me, light on
ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ
ْ‫ َو َعن‬، ‫ن نُ ْو ًرا‬ ْ ْ‫ َو ِم ْن َت‬، ‫نُ ْو ًرا‬
ْ ْ‫ َو َع ْن يَّ ِمي‬، ‫ت نُ ْو ًرا‬
my right, light on my left, light in front of me, and
light behind me. Place light in my self and magnify ِ ِ
for me light. (Muslim)
ْ‫ َو ِم ْن َخلْ ِف‬، ‫ي يَ َد َّي نُ ْو ًرا‬ َْ ْ َ ًُْ ْ َ
ِ ‫ و ِمن ب‬، ‫ِشم ِال نورا‬

ً.‫ل نُ ْورا‬ ْ ِ ‫ف َن ْف‬
ْ ‫ َوأ ْع ِظ ْم‬، ‫س نُ ْو ًرا‬ ْ ِ ‫اج َع ْل‬ْ َ ًُْ

َ َ َْ ْ َ ْ ّ ‫﴾ اَللّٰ ُه َّم إ‬٣٩﴿

    O Allah, I am Your slave and the son of Your
، ‫ َو ْاب ُن أ َم ِتك‬، ‫ َو ْاب ُن عب ِد َك‬، ‫ن عب ُد َك‬ ِِ
male slave and the son of Your female slave. My
َّ‫ َع ْد ٌل ِف‬، ‫ك‬ َ ُ ْ ُ َّ َ َ َ ْ َ‫اصي‬ َ
forehead is in Your Hand (i.e. you have control ‫اض ِف حكم‬ ٍ ‫ م‬، ‫ت ِبي ِدك‬ ِ ِ ‫ن‬
َ ْ‫ َس َّمي‬، ‫ك‬ َ َ َُ ْ ُّ َ َُ ْ َ ُ َ َ
‫ أسألك بِك ِل اس ٍم هو ل‬، ‫قضاؤ َك‬
over me). I am subject to Your judgement and
Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You ‫ت بِ ِه‬
ُ ْ َْ َ َ ْ َ َ ُ َّ َ َ ْ َ
‫ أ ْو أن َز َله‬، ‫ أ ْو َعل ْمتَه أ َح ًدا ِّم ْن خل ِقك‬، ‫نف َسك‬
- by every name that is Yours, by which You

َ ْ ََْ ْ َ َ َ ْ
have named Yourself, or taught any one of Your
creation, or revealed in Your Book, or kept unto ْ‫ف علْم الْ َغي‬ ْ ِ ‫ت ب ِه‬
Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen that is ‫ب‬ ِ ِ ِ ِ ‫ أ ِو استأثر‬، ‫ك‬ َ ِ‫ِف ِكتاب‬
ُ ْ َ ْ ُ ْ
ْ ‫ أن تعل الق ْرآن َربي َع قل‬، ‫ِعنْ َد َك‬
َ َ َ ْ َ ْ
with You - to make the Qur’ān the spring of my
‫ َون ْو َر‬، ‫ب‬ ِ ِ
ْ ‫َص ْدر ْي َو َج َل َء ُح ْز‬
heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my
grief and the reliever of my anxiety. (A mad) ْ.‫اب َه ِ ّم‬ َ ‫ َو َذ َه‬، ‫ن‬
ِ ِ

ْ ْ َ ُ َ ْ َ ُ ْ َّ ْ ‫ل‬
، ‫عصمة أم ِري‬ َ ‫ِدي‬

ْ ِ ‫﴾ الل ُه َّم أ ْص ِل ْح‬٤٠﴿
O Allah, rectify my religion for me which is the

ْ ِ ‫ت ِفيْ َها َم َع‬
‫ َوأ ْص ِل ْح‬، ‫اش‬ َ َ‫ل ُد ْني‬ ْ ‫َوأ ْص ِل ْح‬
protection of my affairs. Rectify my world for me
wherein is my livelihood. Rectify my hereafter for
ِ ِ
me, to which is my return. Make my life a means َ َ َْ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ ْ َّ َ َ ْ
of increase for me in every good, and make death a ‫ واجع ِل الياة‬، ‫آخر ِت ال ِت ِفيها معا ِدي‬ ِ ‫ل‬ ِ
respite for me from every evil. (Muslim) ْ‫اح ًة ّل‬َ ‫ت َر‬ َ ْ َْ َ ْ َ ْ َ ُّ ْ ّْ ً َ َ
ِ ‫ واجع ِل المو‬، ‫ي‬ ٍ ‫كخ‬ ِ ‫ِزيادة ِل ِف‬
ّ َ ّ ُ ‫ِم ْن‬
ٍ ‫ك‬

ْ ُ َ َ ْ َ َ ْ ّٰ َ
41
    O Allah, apportion for us enough fear and awe
‫﴾ الل ُه َّم اق ِس ْم لَا ِم ْن خشيَ ِتك َما تُ ْول بِ ِه بَينَنَا‬٤١﴿
of You to prevent us from sinning against You,
ُّ ُ َ َ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ َ َََْ
and enough obedience to You to make us reach ‫اع ِتك َما تبَ ِلغنَا‬ ‫ و ِمن ط‬، ‫اصيك‬ ِ ‫وبي مع‬
َ ُ ُ ْ
ْ َ َ َ َ َ َّ َ
‫ي َما ت َه ِّون بِ ِه َعليْنَا‬
Your Paradise, and enough certainty to make the
difficulties of this world easy for us. O Allah, let us ِ ‫ و ِمن ال ِق‬، ‫بِ ِه جنتك‬
enjoy our hearing and sight and strength as long َ
َ ‫ اَللّٰ ُه َّم َم ّت ْعنَا بأ ْس َما‬، ‫ادل ْنيَا‬ ُّ ‫ب‬ َ ‫َم َصائ‬
as You allow us to live, and make it an inheritance ، ‫عنا‬ ِ ِ ِ ِ
for us. Let our retaliation be upon those who have َ َ ْ ُ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ َّ ُ َ َ َ ْ َ َ
wronged us, and help us against those who harbour ‫ارث‬ ِ ‫ واجعله الو‬، ‫ وق ْوتِنا ما أحييتنا‬، ‫ارنا‬ ِ ‫وأبص‬
َ ْ
enmity towards us. Let not our afflictions be in ٰ َ َ ‫صنَا‬
‫ع‬ ْ ُ ْ ‫ َوان‬، ‫ع َم ْن َظل َمنَا‬ ٰ َ َ ‫اج َعل ثَأ َرنَا‬
ْ َ َّ
‫ و‬، ‫ِمنا‬
our religion. Do not make the world our biggest
ََ َ ْ ْ َََْ ُ ْ ََْ ََ َ َ َ ْ َ
concern or the full extent of our knowledge, and ‫ ول‬، ‫ ول تعل م ِصيبتنا ِف ِدي ِننا‬، ‫من عدانا‬
َ ْ ََ َ َ َ َ ْ َ َ ْ ُّ َ ْ َ
‫ َول‬، ‫ َول َمبْلغ ِعل ِمنَا‬، ‫ب ه ِّمنَا‬
do not give power over us to anyone who will not
have mercy on us. (Tirmidhī) ‫تع ِل ادلنيا أك‬
َّ
ُ َ ‫ت ُ َسلّ ْط َعلَيْنَا َم ْن ل يَ ْر‬
.‫حنَا‬ ِ
100 101
َ ْ ‫ن فيْ َم ْن َه َدي‬ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
O Allah, guide me amongst those You have guided, ‫ن ِفيْ َم ْن‬ ْ ِ‫ َو َعف‬، ‫ت‬ ِ ْ ‫اه ِد‬

ْ ‫ َو َبار ْك‬، ‫ت‬ َّ


َ ْ‫ن فيْ َم ْن تَ َول‬ َّ َ َ َْ َ
‫ل ِفيْ َما‬
grant me wellbeing amongst those You have
granted wellbeing, befriend me amongst those ِ ِ ِ ْ ِ ‫ َوت َول‬، ‫عفيت‬
َ ْ ْ َ َ َّ َ ْ َ َ َ َّ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ
‫ض َول‬
You have befriended. Bless me in what You have
ِ ‫ إِنك تق‬، ‫ وقِن ش ما قضيت‬، ‫أعطيت‬
َ َ َ ْ َ َّ ْ َ ُّ َ َ ُ َّ َ َِ ْ َ َ َ ْ ُ
given me and protect me from the evil of what You
have decreed. You are the One who decrees and
You are not decreed against. Whomsoever You ‫ ول‬، ‫ وإِنه ل ي ِذل من والت‬، ‫ض عليك‬ ٰ ‫يق‬
befriend will never be disgraced, and whomsoever َ
َ ْ‫ت َر َّبنَا َو َت َعال‬ ْ
َ ‫ارك‬َ َ‫ َتب‬، ‫ت‬َ ْ ‫يَع ُّز َم ْن َع َدي‬
You oppose will never be honoured. You are the
.‫ت‬ ِ
Most Blessed, our Lord and You are the Most
Exalted. (Abū Dāwūd)

َ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ َّ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
43
    O Allah, Lord of Jibrā’īl, Mīkā’īl and Isrāfīl, ، ‫سا ِفيْل‬ ِ ‫وإ‬ ، ‫ل‬ ‫ و ِميك ِئي‬، ‫﴾ اللهم رب ِجبا ِئيل‬٤٣﴿
ْ َْْ َ َ
Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower
َْ َ َ َ ٰ َّ َ ِ
of the unseen and seen; You will judge between ‫ب‬ ِ ‫ علِم الغي‬، ‫ات والر ِض‬ ِ ‫ــــاطر السمو‬ ‫ف‬
Your servants in what they used to differ. Guide
َ‫بي عبَاد َك فيْما‬ َ ْ ‫ك ُم‬ ُ َْ َ َْ َ َ َّ َ
me in what is contentious to the truth, by Your ِ ِ ِ ‫ أنت ت‬، ‫والشهاد ِة‬
ْ‫اختُل َف فيه‬ ْ َ ْ ْ َ ُ َْ ُ َ
‫ ِاه ِد ِن لِما‬، ‫كن ْوا ِفيْ ِه يتَ ِلف ْون‬
will. Indeed, You guide whomsoever You wish to
a straight path. (Muslim) ِ ِ ِ
َ ُ َ َ ْ َ ْ ْ َ َ َّ َ ْ ّ َ ْ َ
‫ل‬ٰ ِ‫اء إ‬ ‫ إِنك ته ِدي من تش‬، ‫ِمن الح ِق بِإِذنِك‬
.‫اط ُّم ْستَ ِقيْ ٍم‬ٍ ‫ص‬َ ِ

102 103
َ َ ْ
ٰ َ ‫اتل‬ َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
ٰ ‫ك ال ْ ُه َد‬
O Allah, I beg You for guidance, taqwā, chastity ‫ق َوال َعفاف‬ ُّ ‫ى َو‬ ‫ اللهم إِ ِن أسأل‬٤٤

and self-sufficiency. (Muslim) ْ


ٰ َ ‫َوال ِغ‬
.‫ن‬

O Allah, guide me and grant me firmness. O َ ُ َ ْ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ْ ْ ّ َ َ ْ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿


ٰ ‫ك ال ْ ُه َد‬
45
   

Allah, I beg You for guidance and firmness (on


‫ى‬ ‫ اللهم ِإ ِن أسأل‬، ‫ اللهم اه ِد ِن وس ِدد ِن‬٤٥
َ َّ َ
the straight path). (Muslim) .‫الس َداد‬‫و‬

َ َ
46 O Allah, inspire me with sound guidance and ْ ِ ‫ش َن ْف‬
.‫س‬ ّ َ ‫ن ِم ْن‬
ِ ْ ‫﴾ اَللّٰ ُه َّم ألْه ْم‬٤٦﴿
ْ ‫ َوأ ِع ْذ‬، ‫ن ُر ْش ِد ْي‬
ِ ِ ِ
   

protect me from the evil of my self. (Tirmidhī)

47
    O Allah, to You Alone I submit, in You Alone I ُ ْ َّ َ َ َ ْ َ َ َ ُ ْ َ َ َ ُ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
،‫ وعليك توكت‬،‫ وبِك آمنت‬،‫﴾ اللهم لك أسلمت‬٤٧﴿
ُ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ُ ْ َ َ َ َ ُ ْ َ َ َ ْ َ َ
believe, upon You Alone I place my trust, to You
Alone I turn repeatedly in repentance, and for ‫ن أ ُع ْوذ‬ ِ ِ‫ الله َم إ‬، ‫اصمت‬ ‫ وبك خ‬، ‫وإلك أنبت‬
You Alone I advocate. O Allah, I seek protection
َ ْ َ ْ َّ ُ ْ َ َ ْ َ ِ َّ َ ٰ َ َ َّ ِ
‫ح‬ُّ ‫ أنت ال‬، ‫ن‬ ْ ‫ب ِعزتِك ل إِل إِل أنت أن ت ِضل‬
- with Your honour, there is no god worthy of
ِ ِ
worship except You - from misguidance. You are َ ْ ُ ْ ُ َ ُ ْ ْ َ ُّ ْ َ ُ ْ ُ َ َ ْ َّ
the Ever-Living who does not die, whereas the jinn .‫النس يموتون‬ ِ ‫الن و‬ ِ ‫ و‬، ‫الي ل يموت‬ ِ
and mankind die. (Muslim)

48 O Allah, grant me a deep understanding of the


.‫دلي ْ ِن‬
ّ ْ ‫﴾ اَللّٰ ُه َّم فَ ِّق ْه‬٤٨﴿
ِ ‫ن ِف ا‬ ِ
   

religion. (Bukhārī)

ْ ‫ن ما ينفع‬
،‫ن‬
َّْ َ
ْ ‫ وع ِلم‬، ‫ن‬
ْ ‫ن بما علمت‬

ِ ِ ‫﴾ اللهم انفع‬٤٩﴿
49 O Allah, benefit me with what you have taught

me, teach me what will benefit me, and increase ْ ْ ْ َ


me in knowledge. (Tirmidhī) .‫ن ِعل ًما‬ ِ ‫و ِزد‬
ً َّ ْ َ ُ َ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
‫ َو ِر ْزقا َط ِّيبًا‬، ‫ن أ ْسألك ِعل ًما نا ِف ًعا‬
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge,
ِ ‫ اللهم ِإ‬٥٠
50
،
   

wholesome sustenance, and deeds which are


ً َّ َ َ ُّ ً َ َ َ
accepted. (Ibn Mājah)
.‫وعمل متقبل‬

O Allah, grant my soul taqwā and purify it, for


‫ي َم ْن‬ ُ ْ ‫ت َخ‬َ ْ ‫ َو َز ّك َها أَن‬، ‫اها‬
َ ََْ ْ َْ
‫آت نف ِس تقو‬ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
ِ ‫﴾ اللهم‬٥١﴿
51
ِ
   

َ ُ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ َ َ ْ َ َ َ ُّ َ َ ْ َ َ َّ َ
You are the Best of those who can purify it. You
are its Protector and Master. O Allah, I seek
‫ن أ ُع ْوذ بِك‬ ِ ِ‫ اللهم إ‬، ‫ أنت و ِلها ومولها‬، ‫زكها‬
ْ‫ َومن‬، ‫ َوم ْن قَلْب َّل َيْ َش ُع‬، ‫م ْن علْم َّل َينْ َف ُع‬
Your protection from knowledge which does not
benefit, a heart which does not submit, a soul ِ ٍ ِ ٍ ِ ِ
which is not satisfied and a supplication which is
َ.‫اب لَها‬ُ ‫ج‬َ َ‫ َوم ْن َد ْع َوة َّل ي ُ ْست‬، ‫َّن ْفس َّل ت َ ْشبَ ُع‬
not accepted. (Muslim) ٍ ِ ٍ
َّ َ َ ْ َ َّ ْ َ ُ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
‫ َوع َم ٍل ل‬، ‫ن أ ُع ْوذ بِك ِم ْن ِعل ٍم ل ينف ُع‬
O Allah, I seek Your protection from knowledge
ِ ‫ اللهم ِإ‬٥٢
52
   

which does not benefit, actions which are not


َّ َ َ ْ َ َّ ْ َ َ َُُْ
raised (to You), a heart which does not humble
itself (in Your awe), and an utterance which is not
.‫ َوق ْو ٍل ل ي ُ ْس َم ُع‬، ‫ب ل يش ُع‬ ٍ ‫ وقل‬، ‫يرفع‬
accepted. (A mad)

َ ْ َ َّ َ َ ُ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
.‫ن أ ُع ْوذ بِك ِم ْن َصل ٍة ل تنف ُع‬
O Allah, I seek Your protection from a prayer
ِ ِ‫ اللهم إ‬٥٣
53
   

which does not benefit. (Abū Dāwūd)

106 107
َ ْ َ ََ َ ْ ُ ْ َ َ ُ ْ ُ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
54 O Allah, I seek Your protection from knowingly
، ‫ش َك بِك َوأنا أعل ُم‬
ِ ‫ك أن أ‬ ِ‫ اللهم إِ ِن أعوذ ب‬٥٤

associating partners with You and seek Your َُ ْ َ َ َ َ ُ ْ َ ْ َ َ


forgiveness for unknowingly (doing so). (A mad) .‫وأستغ ِفرك لِما ل أعلم‬

َ ُ َ ْ ْ َ ُ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
55
    O Allah, I seek Your protection from miserliness
‫ َوأ ُع ْوذ بِك ِم َن‬، ‫ن أ ُع ْوذ بِك ِم َن البُخ ِل‬ ِ ِ‫ اللهم إ‬٥٥
and I seek Your protection from cowardice. I seek
ُ ُ ْ َ ْ َ َ َّ َ ُ ْ َ َ ُ ْ ُ َ َ ُْ ْ
Your protection from being returned to the worst ، ‫ل أرذ ِل العم ِر‬ ٰ ِ‫ وأعوذ بِك أن أرد إ‬، ‫ب‬ ِ ‫الج‬
part of life (old age), I seek Your protection from
ْ‫ك من‬ َ ُ ْ ُ َ َ َ ْ ُّ َ ْ ْ َ ُ ْ ُ َ َ
the trials of the world, and I seek Your protection ِ ِ‫ وأعوذ ب‬، ‫وأعوذ بِك ِمن فِتن ِة ادلنيا‬
from the punishment of the grave. (Bukhārī) ْ ‫َع َذاب الْ َق‬
.‫ب‬ِ ِ

َ ْ ْ ْ َ ُ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
56
    O Allah, I seek Your protection from inability,
، ‫ َوالك َس ِل‬، ‫إن أ ُع ْوذ بِك ِم َن ال َعج ِز‬ ِ ‫ اللهم‬٥٦
laziness, cowardice, miserliness, senility, hard
َ ْ َْ َ َ ْ َْ َ َ َْ َ ْ ُْ َ ُْ َ
heartedness, heedlessness, economic dependence, ، ‫ والغفل ِة‬، ‫ والقسو ِة‬، ِ‫ والهرم‬، ‫ والخ ِل‬، ‫ب‬ ِ ‫واجل‬
humiliation and destitution. I seek Your
َ ُْ ُ ََ َ َ ْ َْ َ َّ ّ ََْْ َ
protection from poverty, disbelief, disobedience, ‫ وأعوذ بِك‬، ‫ والمسكن ِة‬، ‫ذلل ِة‬ ِ ‫ وا‬، ‫والعيل ِة‬
discord, hypocrisy, seeking fame and ostentation. َ ّ َ ْ ُ ُْ َ ْ ُ ْ َ ْ َْ َ

‫ َوأ ُع ْوذ بِك‬، ‫ َوال َ َر ِق‬، ‫ َوالغ َر ِق‬، ‫ َوالغ ِ ّم‬، ِ‫َوال َهدم‬
death by falling from a height or being crushed to
death; from dying of sorrow, drowning, drowning
ُ َ ْ ْ ُ َّ َ َ َّ َ َ َّ ْ َ
‫ َوأ ُع ْوذ‬، ‫ن الشيْ َطان ِعن َد ال َم ْو ِت‬
or being burnt. I seek Your protection from being
struck by shay ān at the time of death. I seek Your ِ ‫أن يتخبط‬
protection from dying whilst I am fleeing from the َ ُْ ُ ََ ً ْ ُ َ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َُ ْ َ َ
‫ وأعوذ بِك‬، ‫بِك أن أموت ِف س ِبي ِلك مدبِرا‬
ًْ َ َ َُْ َْ
battlefield and I seek Your protection from dying
from a venomous sting. (Nasā’ī)
.‫ليغا‬ ِ ‫أن أموت‬

    O Allah, I seek Your protection from the evil of

what I have done, and from the evil of what I have

protection, Your sudden punishment and all that .‫جيْ ِع َسخ ِطك‬ ِ ‫ َو‬، ‫اء ِة نِقم ِتك‬ ‫ وفج‬، ‫ع ِفي ِتك‬
which may incur Your displeasure. (Muslim)

ْ ُ َّ َ ْ َ ُ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
‫ ف ِإنه بِئ َس‬، ‫ن أ ُع ْوذ بِك ِم َن ال ُ ْو ِع‬
O Allah, I seek Your protection from hunger,
ِ ِ‫ اللهم إ‬٦٢

ْ َ َّ َ َ َ ْ َ َ ُ ْ ُ َ َ ُ ْ َّ
as it is indeed an evil companion and I seek
‫ت‬ َ
Your protection from treachery, as it is an evil
ِ ‫ ف ِإنها بِئس‬، ‫اليان ِة‬ ِ ‫ وأعوذ بِك ِمن‬، ‫الض ِجيع‬
confidante. (Nasā’ī)

.‫ال َطانة‬ ِ

O Allah, I seek Your protection from bad days,

bad nights, bad moments, bad companions, and

from bad neighbours in (permanent) places of
، ‫ب السو ِء‬ ِ ‫اح‬ِ ‫ َو ِمن ص‬، ‫ َو ِمن ساع ِة السو ِء‬، ‫السو ِء‬
َ ‫ف َدار ال ْ ُم‬
residence. ( abarānī)
.‫قام ِة‬ ْ ِ ‫الس ْو ِء‬ ُّ ‫َوم ْن َجار‬
ِ ِ ِ

ُّ ‫ك م ْن َجار‬ َ ُ ْ ُ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
‫ َو ِم ْن َز ْو ٍج‬، ‫الس ْو ِء‬
O Allah, I seek Your protection from an evil
ِ‫ اللهم ِإ ِن أعوذ ب‬٦٤

neighbour; from a spouse who will age me ahead


َ
َّ ‫ل يَّك ْون‬ ُ ُ َ ْ ْ َ ََْ ْ ُّ َُ
of time; from a child who will rule over me; from
wealth that will become a punishment for me;
‫ع‬ ٍ ‫ َو ِمن َّو‬، ‫ب‬ ِ ‫تش ِيب ِن قبل الم ِشي‬
َ َ َّ َ َ ُ ْ ُ َّ َ ْ َ ًّ َ
from a cunning friend whose eyes see me yet his ‫ َو ِم ْن خ ِليْ ٍل‬، ‫ع َعذابًا‬ ‫ال يكون‬ ٍ ‫ و ِمن م‬، ‫ربا‬
ََ ْ ْ َ َ
َ
ْ ‫ َوقلبُه يَ ْرع‬، ‫ان‬ ُ ْ ‫َّما ِكر َعيْنُ ُه ت َر‬
heart keeps guard over me: if he sees any good, he
‫ى‬ ٰ ‫ ِإن رأ‬، ‫ن‬ ِ َ ِ
conceals it and if he sees any bad, he announces it.

( abarānī) َ َ ًَّ َ ٰ ََ َ َ ََ َ َ ًَ َ َ
َ.‫اعها‬ ‫ وإِذا رأى س ِيئة أذ‬، ‫حسنة دفنها‬

65 O Allah, I seek Your protection from severe
‫ َود َر ِك‬، ‫الل ِء‬ ‫﴾ اللهم إِ ِن أعوذ بِك ِمن جه ِد‬٦٥﴿

trials, wretchedness, bad fate and that my enemies

rejoice in my misery. (Bukhārī) .ِ‫ َوش َمات ِة الع َداء‬، ‫ َو ُس ْو ِء الق َضا ِء‬، ‫الشقا ِء‬

ُ َ ْ َ ُ َ ْ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
‫ َوأ ُع ْوذ‬، ‫ن أ ُع ْوذ بِك ِم َن ال َه ِ ّم َواحل َ َز ِن‬
O Allah, I seek Your protection from anxiety and
ِ ِ‫ اللهم إ‬٦٦

َ ُْ ُ ََ
grief. I seek Your protection from inability and
َ‫ك ِمن‬ َ َ ْ َ ْ َْ َ َ
ِ‫ وأعوذ ب‬، ‫بِك ِمن العج ِز و َالكس ِل‬
laziness. I seek Your protection from cowardice and
miserliness and I seek Your protection from being
ْ ََ َ ُ ْ ْ ُْ
overcome by debt and being overpowered by men. ‫ َوأ ُع ْوذ بِك ِم ْن غلبَ ِة اﺪﻟي ِن‬، ‫ﺒ َوالبُخ ِل‬

ِ ‫اﺠﻟ‬

67 O Allah, I seek Your protection from poverty, َّ ّ َ َّ ْ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ ُ ْ ُ َ ّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ


ْ ‫﴾ اللهم إ‬٦٧﴿
، ‫ذلل ِة‬
ِ ‫ وا‬، ‫ وال ِقل ِة‬، ‫ن أعوذ بِك ِمن الفق ِر‬ ِِ
   

َ ُْ َ َْ َْ َ ُ َ
scarcity, humiliation; and I seek Your protection
from oppressing or being oppressed. (Abū
Dāwūd)
.‫َوأ ُع ْوذ بِك ِم ْن أن أظ ِل َم أ ْو أظل َم‬

َ َ َ َ َ ْ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
68 O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful against Your ْ ‫ َوأ ْغ ِن‬، ‫ك‬
‫ن‬ ‫م‬
ِ ‫ا‬‫ر‬َ ‫ك َع ْن َح‬ ِ ‫ اللهم اك ِف ِن ِبلل‬٦٨

prohibited, and make me independent of all those


َ ْ َ
َ.‫ك َع َّم ْن س َواك‬
besides You. (Tirmidhī)
ِ ‫بِفض ِل‬

114 115
O Allah, make me content with what You have ، ْ ‫ َو َبار ْك‬، ‫ن‬
‫ل ِفيْ ِه‬ِ ِ ْ ‫﴾ اَللّٰ ُه َّم قَ ِّن ْع‬٦٩﴿
ْ َ‫ن ب َما َر َز ْقت‬

granted me, bless me in it and be a protector for


َ ْ َ َ َّ ُ َّ َ َ ْ ُ ْ َ
ْ‫بي‬
me in that which is absent from me (i.e. family and . ٍ ِ ‫واخلف ع ك غئِب ٍة ِل‬
wealth). ( ākim)

ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ ْ ْ ّ َ َ ْ ْ َ ْ ْ ْ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿
70
    O Allah, forgive my sins, make my home spacious
and bless me in what You have granted me.
‫ارك‬
ِ ‫ وب‬، ‫اري‬
ِ ‫ وو ِسع ِل ِف د‬، ‫ اللهم اغ ِفر ِل ذن ِب‬٧٠
(A mad) ْ َ‫ل ِفيْ َما َر َز ْقت‬
.‫ن‬ ْ
ِ
ِ

َّ ُ َ ْ ْ َ ْ َُْ َ َْ ّٰ َ
71
    O Allah, grant us more and not less. Honour
، ‫ َوأك ِرمنَا َول ت ِهنا‬، ‫﴾ الل ُه َّم ِزدنا َول تنقصنَا‬٧١﴿
َ ْ َ َ ْ ْ ُ َ َ َ ْ َ َ ْ ْ َ َ َ َ ‫َوأَ ْع‬
us and do not disgrace us. Grant us and do not
deprive us. Favour us and do not favour others ، ‫ وآثِرنا ول تؤثِر علينا‬، ‫طنا ول ت ِرمنا‬ ِ
over us. Make us pleased with You and be pleased
َّ َ َ ْ َ َ ْ َ َ
with us. (Tirmidhī) .‫وأر ِضنا وارض عنا‬

O Allah, beautify my character as You have ْ َ َ ْ ْ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ ﴾ ﴿


ْ ِ ُ‫ح ِس ْن ُخل‬
72
   

beautified my appearance. (A mad)


.‫ق‬ ‫ اللهم أحسنت خل ِق فأ‬٧٢

َُ ‫ك‬
َ ٰ ْ َ ْ َ َُُْ َ ْ ُّ ْ َ َ ُّ َ َ ُ ّٰ َ
‫ل‬ ِ ‫﴾ الله َّم فأيما عب ٍد مؤ ِم ٍن سببته فاجعل ذل‬٧٣﴿
73
    O Allah, any believing servant whom I have

َ َ‫ك يَ ْو َم الْقي‬
َ َْ ًَُْ
cursed, make that a source of nearness to You on
the Day of Judgement. (Muslim) .‫ام ِة‬ ِ ‫قربة ِإل‬

116 117
ْ َ َ َ ُ ُ َ ْ َ ْ ّ َ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
74 O Allah, unite our hearts, set aright our ، ‫ َوأ ْص ِل ْح ذات بَي ِننَا‬، ‫ي قل ْوبِنَا‬ ‫﴾ اللهم أ ِلف ب‬٧٤﴿

relationships, and guide us to the paths of peace. َُ ُّ َ َ ّ َ َ َ َّ َُ ُ َ ْ َ


Bring us out of darknesses into light and protect ‫ات‬ِ ‫ننا ِمن الظلم‬ ِ ‫ و‬، ِ‫واه ِدنا سبل السلم‬
ْ َ َ َ َْ َّْ َ َ ْ ُّ ‫إ َل‬
‫احش َما ظ َه َر ِمن َها‬
us from evident and hidden obscenities. Bless us
in our hearing, our sight, our hearts, our spouses ِ ‫ وج ِنبنا الفو‬، ‫انلو ِر‬ ِ
and our children. Accept our repentance. Indeed, َ َ ََْ َ َ ْ َ ْ ََ ْ ََ َ َ َ َ َ
You truly are the Acceptor of repentance, the ، ‫ارنا‬ ِ ‫ وأبص‬، ‫ارك لا ِف أسما ِعنا‬ ِ ‫ وب‬، ‫وما بطن‬
Ever-Merciful. Make us of those who are grateful َ‫ب َعلَيْنا‬ ْ ُ‫َ ُ ُ ْ َ َ َ ْ َ َ َ ُ ّ َّ َ َوت‬
، ‫ وذ ِرياتِنا‬، ‫اجنا‬ ِ ‫ وأزو‬، ‫وقلوبِنا‬
ْ َ ُ ْ َّ ُ َّ َّ َ ْ َ َ َّ
for Your blessings, who praise You for them and
acknowledge them. Perfect (the blessings) and َ‫اج َعلْنَا َشا ِكريْن‬ ‫ و‬، ‫إِنك أنت اتلواب الر ِحيم‬
ِ
َ‫ َو َأتْم ْمها‬، ‫ي ل َ َها‬ َ َْ َ َ َْ ُْ َ َ
make them last forever for us. ( ākim)
َ ْ ‫ قَابل‬، ‫ك‬ ‫ِ ِلع ِمك مثنِي بِها علي‬
ِِ ِِ
َ
.‫َعليْنَا‬

َ َ ُ ْ َ ََ ْ َ ْ َ ُ َ ْ َ َّ َّ ُ ّٰ َ
‫ي َما َسألك ِمنه ن ِب ُّيك‬
O Allah, we beg You for the good which Your
ِ ‫﴾ اللهم ِإنا نسألك ِمن خ‬٧٥﴿

Prophet Mu ammad  asked from You. We


َ ُ َ َّ َ ُ َّ ٌ َ ُ
seek Your protection from the evil which Your ‫ َون ُع ْوذ بِك ِم ْن‬، ‫اهلل َعليْ ِه َو َسل َم‬ ‫م َّمد َصل‬
Prophet Mu ammad  sought protection for َ ُ َّ َ ٌ َّ َ ُ َ ُّ َ ُ ْ َ َ َ ْ َ ّ َ
from You. You are the One whose assistance is ‫اهلل َعليْ ِه‬ ‫ش ما استعاذ ِمنه ن ِبيك ممد صل‬ ِ
sought and You are the Only One who provides َ َ ُ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ ُ َ َ ْ ُ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ َّ َ َ
and suffices. There is no power (to avert evil) nor ‫ ول‬، ‫ وعليك اللغ‬، ‫ وأنت المستعان‬، ‫وسلم‬
َّ َ َّ ُ َ َ ْ َ
ِ ‫حول َول قوة ِإل بِا‬
strength (to do good) except by Allah. (Tirmidhī)
